Dricus is setting a remarkable example for African fighters by proving that they can achieve success in the UFC even while training in Africa. This demonstrates the immense potential of training in South Africa. If you're Nigerian and training in New Zealand, this sends a message to Nigerians that they too can achieve their dreams, but they may need to consider training elsewhere. It's surprising that some people are overlooking this concept, but it's important to acknowledge the impact of Dricus's success in inspiring and motivating African fighters.
Because they don't have facilities in those countries, I grew up in Cameroon, so I know what I'm saying .South Africa is one of the more developed countries

Even DDP is lying when he tried to claim he hasn't implied he has the African because he resides in SA. He said that he wants to be the first African to bring the title home. When Francis and Izzy have both done that, what then is the implication of "the first African"?
Dricus was born in Africa, resides in Africa, and trains in Africa. If he gets the MMA belt, he is bringing it to Africa and that's the legitimate African belt.
Where did Izzy, Usman, and Ngannou learn to fight? Not Africa, if he wins a belt, it would be significant in being the first homegrown African champion.

When Moreno won the belt for the first time, people made a big deal of him being the first Mexican fighter to win a belt from Mexico. When Leon won the belt, he made a point of saying he's the first English fighter to win a belt from England. What's the difference with DDP making the same point of being the first African fighter to win a belt from Africa?
Mexico and England are countries; Africa is a continent. Africa has over 50 countries. If DDP had said he’d be the first South-African born champion, that’d be comparable to Moreno’s statement (or Leon’s to an extent).
The statement that was made about Moreno was that he was the first Mexican-born champion, which he was. It was not stated that he was the first "residing" champion.
Because Francis already exists.

Maybe I'm biased cause I'm from SA but I'm not even white and to me Dricus is African and his one of us and we stand behind him. We are literally called the rainbow nation we have 11 national languages and we are a multicultural nation. There is such an obvious double standard when it comes to what you can and can’t say based on who you are. Usman can sit at a presser and say always bet on black and Dricus can’t be as African as him because he is not black (that’s exactly what he said without saying the words). Belal can say Colby gets the title shot because he is white. Izzy can mock a kid all without much blow back from Ariel and others. Yet Colby for example says Jorge is a deadbeat dad and gets vilified as a person that talks about kids and Dricus’ answers get dissected and analyzed like a frog in a lab and then potentially racial accusations get attached to them it’s a disgrace.

What Dricus said really wasn't anything crazy, as he said he just stated facts. Now, the words from his coach are somewhat problematic but they aren't DDP's words. I think what Dricus meant to say, and I'm just speculating, with regards to Ariel's question about the important of these facts, is simply to advance African MMA and inspire more kids. It's similar to Leon Edwards talking about how nowadays you don't need to travel to the US anymore to get to that level. You can become champ while staying at home. It's not a sign of disrespect to people like Bisping. And it is not the same if an American, Canadian or Brazilian said this because there are a lot of champs from there.

People are missing the point. Dricus goal is to win the belt but that’s not all, he , like most of us in SA loves how sport brings our people together regardless of history or skin colour. He unofficially made it his own responsibility to pave the way for other African fighters to follow, showing it is possible for them to chase their dreams even all the way to the UFC gold.
