    hit 123 miles in my pair today.. zero issues so far.. can’t notice ANY wear on the outsole.. upper is starting to get a little more forgiving in the forefoot but still has its structure and lockdown through the midfoot.. the midsole’s versatility is still there.. just so so good

      @@dominicwalton8189 it definitely wouldn’t be a strong pick out of my whole rotation.. if the plan is to run the distance with no serious performance expectations out of yourself, and you’re in good fitness i think you’d have a good experience. maybe just not the best experience (imho)

    Yeah, your channel has grown really fast but that's because you've put in a ton of work; you've gone out-of-pocket for a lot of the shoes; and you've developed this really unique vlogging style of video that at least 14K people must enjoy. I watch your videos every day.
    On the SL2, I really like that feeling of not having a lot of shoe on my foot. I've also thought in the context of you and I wearing the same size. You're much bigger and stronger than I am so a 10+ oz. shoe feels like a lot towards the end of the run.
    I hope you got out early this morning to beat the heat. I'll probably find out tomorrow morning.🖖

    Your videos have changed the way I see my own relationship with running and saying in relative good health overall. I always WANT to go for a run, but the motivation is dampened by everyday things that come up. After watching your videos, I have also started to prioritize my running and seeing how I can better incorporate it on a weekly basis. Keep doing what you’re doing, inspiring people. I watch til the end, and it’s not always about the shoes. It’s to remind myself that grinding out those miles will make me healthier, and less stressed.

    Just had my first run in the SL2 thus morning at easy pace. Feels good and protective! Gone half a size up, as adidas shoes tend to be run small to me due to my high volume foot!
    Looking at your laces, I just realised that I have been short changed, mine are barely long enough! I have new laces on order! Apart from that can't complain, especially when I got them for £80 (just over $100). In today's market that's a bit of a bargin!

    Hey Yowana, love your channel. But I think this is a missing part in the running community (but I guess it would be very niche).
    Most runners don’t typically have the build I have (I’m 6’1 220, run a 20:24 5k and a 42:54 10k). And the ones I would consider close in stature aren’t necessarily doing shoe reviews.
    All that is to say that shoes like the Rebel v3 and v4 work well for lighter runners, but if a heavier set runner such as myself runs in them (a shorter stack shoe) they tend to bottom out after a pretty short distance (for myself it was about 4 miles).
    But I love the reviews, and think it would be neat if you could explain your footstrike (like how you heel strike a bit) a little more for people so people aren’t confused when one shoe is good for you but not someone else.
    Thanks, if you see this!

    I took a 7.5 in the SL2 and 7 in Boston 12. Both are awesome shoes. The SL2 is more narrow in the forefoot to me, which is why I went up a half size. Length still feels fine.

    Thanks for the review Yowana :)
    Decided to give the SL2 a try because I enjoyed the SL1, here's my experience with the sizing. Had to go up a half size to a size 11 annnd the fit wasn't bad (could probably make it work at 11.5), but I think if you have flat feed or wider feed it's definitely a really hard shoe to get comfortable in, especially compared to the original SL which was wider in the forefoot than most shoes.
    I'm thinking I should maybe try the Fuelcell Rebel instead as I've heard it has a massive toebox, maybe this is a good suggestions for others.

    I just did a 21 km long run for 2 hours in alphafly 3s to demo it before a race and compared to my endorphin pro 3 for long run, it's more comfortable and my knees take less of a beating.
    Based on my pace, i'm a mid packer and heel striker but so many reviewers say the endorphin pro 3 would be better for me but that isn't the case.
    I think the stiffness of the foams are really a big factor here.
    I tried the cielo x1 before the endorphin and those shoes didn't along with me either as it was heavier and my heel strike hitting the awkward part of the shoe.
    I just don't see how alphafly 3 wouldn't be good for midpackers as emphasized by you and other shoe reviewers, maybe I'm a highly specific case haha.
    For context i'm 5'8" 150 lbs

    Just got these last week and put 50km in them. Interesting how different people perceive softness. I personally wouldn't consider these to be very soft. They're marginally softer than the Boston 12, and nowhere near as soft as the 1080 v13. However, it does feel a lot softer when landing heel first compared to a forefoot strike.
    When it comes to faster runs, I definitely prefer the Boston 12. It's equally as responsive, but the fibreglass rods and more aggressive rocker makes turning over much easier. Though the SL2 has the bounce from the Lightstrike Pro, I feel it's a bit nerfed by a flat-footed geometry and lack of a stiffening agent.

    • @supwell
      @supwell  Před 2 měsíci +2

      Brooks ghost max would be my top pick for that! It's a super comfortable walking shoe that also handles running decently well - it's more comfortable than fast, but if you're looking for 90% walking it'll be perfect. If you want something with a little more bounce and aggressive feel to it for running, the hoka Mach 6 would also be a good choice. It has a more exciting and fun feel, but it's a little less stable and comfortable than the ghost max

    This is my favorite pyhsical education equipment podcast but the host has a different running style than me which is a damn shame because I keep buying shoes that don't make sense to me (skill issue I know but still) - Do you think you could do like 12 miles in a shoe where you just switch through running styles like rear, mid, forefoot - shuffle and pop off edition, chill and speedy? Like an anklebreaker fartlek? Dont need to put on the goku weight vest but that would be sweet info addition

    • @supwell
      @supwell  Před 2 měsíci +2

      Hahaha this comment made me chuckle. What's your running style? I'm guessing more of a forefoot runner? Also what shoes didn't work for you and what have? I can give some picks that might work better based on that. But between this and the Mach 6, if you're an aggressive forefoot runner you might have better luck with that one due to the roll in the front. I've had a few forefoot strikers now say they didn't love the SL2

    • @haroholic
      @haroholic Před 2 měsíci +1

      @@supwell Aah my bad I was making up an issue to push my agenda, I think it'd be cool to have running footage like "okay relaxed rearfoot mashing feels garbagio but mild midfoot agression gives me wings" type runs, I usually just ajust my running style if a shoe doesn't suit my usual, more forefoot way of running. Like the rebellion pro 2 or the cielo x1 I just had to play around to find a stride to engage the foam properly. Novablast 3 - if I run that rearfoog it's weird and boring, run it on my toes - trampoline engaged, bops me along beautifully. It's like I wanna know how we milk these shoes as good as we can you know? Hoka mach 6 sounds tempting for sure, kinda scared that at 200lbs I might crush it a little

    I hope u can or somebody reading this can hep me up with a reference: how does SL2 compare to asics magic Speed 3, im want to buy any of this 2 shoes to improve my 10k PB(55min)... I know they are in a different segments, but for reviews i can see they also have some similarities... Any thoughts that can help me decide which one to buy... Im 5'7 and 140lb with thin and narrow feet...

      @supwell  Před 7 dny

      Great question! The SL2 is more comfortable and is a better choice if you're looking for something to run in for daily miles as well as workouts. The magic speed 3 is more specialized and will perform well for faster workouts but won't be as comfortable for everyday runs. I'd get the SL2 as you'll get more use out if it

    Hi @Yowana i am binging your videos lately haha. I am a true Adidas fan and only running in adidas. at the moment i rotate between supernova for easy and boston 12 for treshold/tempo. Adizero pro 3 for racing and intervals. at 77-81kg i need just a bit of stability. but youre making me really hyped for the SL 2... my boston and supernova both have 400-500km now and i am looking for a new one. do you think the SL2 is a switch and for what type of shoe?
    my easy or Z2 runs are ranging from 5:30-6:30 with some strides. treshold/tempo is more 3:50-5-min per kilometer.
    i am 186 with 80kgs atm and a good amount of muscles 😀

    Bud don’t be a hero. You look beat. No need to push through. Take a few days to chill. It’s 90 and humid here too so I know how that takes it out of you. Running will always be there in a few days. Enjoy some popsicles !!

    hey yowana and his community im currently sitting at 265 ish lbs at 6'1 my first shoe was the nike vomero 17. while its good for the first shoe i feel like, i just dont think i would get another pair. i think i like more squishy and soft foam while having a good roll. i land midfoot to forefoot depending on pace. a lot of the stuff i need to do since i box is faster runs any good suggestions?

      Check out the hoka mach 6! Exactly what you're looking for - softer foam, nice rolling feel to it and great for faster running

    Hi Yowana! So would you say this is a good shoe option for the interval sessions? I'm looking for a non-plated shoe specifically for that - I have the rebel v4 but I'm not getting along with the fit, it's too wide for me so I'm selling it...

    Could you confirm that it does not have a stability component? other youtube videos mentioned those who pronates, this shoe will not be able to support them.

  • @guybeaver
    @guybeaver Před 2 měsíci +1

    How stable is the SL2 compared to the More V5?

    • @supwell
      @supwell  Před 2 měsíci +2

      Both are soft and decently stable but the more v5 has more of a cradle effect that holds your foot in place - so the more v5 will work a little better if you need a little more guidance. SL2's stability moreso comes from the platform being a little lower to the ground and more natural feeling - but it can be really squishy and unstable out of the box

    You mentioned you would probably choose a boston 12 for long runs. 13-20 mile runs, would you recommend the boston 12s over any other shoe? Im struggling to pick a shoe for longer runs. Ive tried a bunch but cant find one. Trying clifton 9s soon.

    • @supwell
      @supwell  Před měsícem +1

      my favorite long run shoe this year has been the asics novablast 4 - comfortable and supportive but light enough for those later miles. it's a little peppier than the clifton 9 and the cushion will likely hold up better for the long time on feet

  • @jrmendez0720
    @jrmendez0720 Před 2 měsíci

    I'm 10.5 as well, but fairly wide. The Novablast fit just right for me at a 10.5. Should I go up half a size or will I be good?

    • @supwell
      @supwell  Před 2 měsíci +1

      Novablast also fit me in 10.5 - if the standard version of that fit you as well you'll probably be good with the 10.5 here! It seems like a lot of people sized up though 🤷🏽‍♂️ I would look through some of the other comments here as well to get some other perspectives
