You look like someone i know but i haven't seen in a long time
Not sold on the professional critics reviews are useless, bit. Feels like you're writing off their perspective because most viewers don't watch movies from that same perspective. This doesn't account for how well or poorly a professional reviewer can evaluate a film FOR the lay person. They are normal people too they are only "professional" because they made it their jobs. I always felt like the thing that makes them different from a normal person isn't some strange perspective that makes their opinions only useful to people in the same boat, it's that they can write clearly and coral their thoughts on a film into something palatable for someone to read.
Sometimes you see a film wildly differ in pro vs regular viewer scores and I would attribute this more to a film finding its niche than to reviewers using some bizarre metric that only applies to them.
Agreed they are good at writing in a succinct way. I guess I have a problem with reviews in general that act like they hold an objective truth. Like “these headphones measure better than all others so they are the best headphones”. But what about comfort, longevity, style, cord length and the compatibility with audio jack sizes? Lots of different ways to look at something
