Actually distrubiors tend to be bad at editing shows, adult swim would do a much better job. Samurai Champloo and Paranoja Agent had an episode where it was about sex and prostruion on the wedge of where Kill La Kill is and only nipples removed. NGE also had under boobs uncensored, but this? Ugh, I know... Tokyo ghoul is my favourite anime and manga but it still pisses me off that some scenes are censored even in the uncensored version. Like that weird scene in episode two when Nishki kicks off a ghouls head for feeding in his territory. It's practically completely blacked out when it happens in that scene. Yet not as much at the end of episode 1. The part I'm referring to is when he throws the head at Kaneki and it's all blacked out. And in Tokyo Ghoul :re they BUTCHERED the introduction of Owl Takizawa. The scene where he rips off a bunch of doves heads is completely out of frame on the broadcast version. MAYBE it won't be on blu ray but my hopes aren't high. And they RUINED the entire character of Mutsuki by not telling us about him being born female, and showing Torso ripping open her shirt. This scene is CRUCIAL. Without it in their his obsession with Toru makes basically ZERO sense. Since she had scars on her chest, which fits his profile. I still have to catch up on the second season of :re so MAYBE, JUST MAYBE they'll fix this shit when they do the rest of the Torso stuff that reveals what happened to her family and is basically her Yamori torture scene that fucks her up and changes her personality. Still at least they NAILED Urie and even did Shizaru justice for the most part. But they still fucked up two important scenes with Haise. First they didn't have him hold his chin when he told Arima he was happy this way, and second they cut out the scene where he cries in his room after being called a ghoul by Urie. Cutting these two scenes is basically inexcusable. For one, it removes the intentional foreshadowing that Haise wasn't as happy as he said, and it makes it seem like he wasn't even effected by being called a ghoul in a deragotory way by his subordinate. These omissions were really shitty. But the season did the story arcs justice for the first 60 chapters for the most part despite these bad choices. My main concern is if season 2 is meant to end the series completely it now has to cover more than 100 chapters in just 12 episodes, meaning it could be even more of a mess than Root A when it comes to adapting too much and condensing the story to shit. I wish they'd stop rushing the show. Like it deserves like at least 3 seasons, that way each season could cover about 60 chapters each. Or more ideally would have been to make 4 seasons and not have cut so much from the first season. Hell, they coule have just made 2 24 episode seasons. Which isn't that big a deal. Plenty of FAR less popular manga gets more episodes than that. Tokyo ghoul is one of THE more popular animes on MAL, and is one of the highest rated mangas on MAL as well. So many significantly worse shows get at least two 24 episode seasons. Yet all the best shows end too soon. Like why is it that something as popular as Attack On Titan didn't get its second 24 episode season until mid 2018? Yet a show like Magi or A Certain Magic Index got at least two seasons of 24 or 25 episodes. The entire total episodes of Tokyo Ghoul of this is the final season will be a measly 48 episodes less than Magi was given and that's not even close to the popularity of Tokyo Ghoul. 48 episodes to cover 325 chapters (I'm including the 144th chapter of Tokyo Ghoul aka it's epilogue here) is appalling.

Individual opinions on panty/chest shots aside, they are part of the show, for better or worse, and trying to make people believe they aren't there is not only pointless and confusing, but insulting to the creator, IMHO. My point is simply this: if you see a show you want to air on your network, air it or don't. Messing with it kind of defeats the point. It wasn't intended for a target audience of single digit ages, and changing it to suit them changes the show. It also creates confusion when those 'kids' grow up later and look up the REAL show, and then go 'wtf. Why didn't they just show us this?' It just complicates matters unnecessarily instead of letting people see the show for what it IS and forming an honest opinion about it, AS IS, instead of whatever watered down version they get. I feel the same way about censorship as I do about the english dubs or radio edits of song. They mask the real experience for no good reason and don't let you judge the real content on its own merits.
Then the show is not for them. Trying to bend it and band-aid it does no one any favors. Thousands of anime out there; watch them as is and you're bound to find one you like. Watching one with bad makeup on it is just self-deluding.
I would much rather watch a show in my native tongue if I had the chance. I would only watch the subbed version if 1. English dub was unavailable and the show was a must see. Or... 2. The English dub is so unbelievably bad that the only respite is to have the Japanese dub. I don't get subheads, unless you actually speak Japanese. Very few shows have dubs so awful that you'd need to watch the show in Japanese (although I can think of a few really bad ones). Funimation tends to do a pretty bang up job in dubbing stuff, especially those five shows I mentioned that had better English dubs than Japanese dubs (DB, FMA, YYH, etc.)

+Sky rain might be a first airing VS future airing of the episode, sometimes when airing for the first time an episode will stay like the original and then be modified later after they get feedback. a bit like how a few years ago, when inuyasha was airing on ytv, it was bloody, you would see some naked breasts and stuff, after a while they restarted the series from episode one, and had replaced the blood with red light, and erased the breasts.

It’s likely due to what the sponsors will allow.
For example, I’ve seen R-rated film air with TV-MA ratings on cable channels yet they still say “edited for content” at the beginning.
The most common thing censored is the F bomb and maybe a few other words, along with nudity (sometimes they’ll allow rear end nudity but that’s about it).
That's the reason why I don't watch anime on toonami😅

therealbahamut Why should they give up? You don't like seeing KLK on tv or something? I don't see how the few edits they make destroying 90% feel of the show unless someone specifically decides to watch the episode for the brief Ryuko panty/chest shot.
Individual opinions on panty/chest shots aside, they are part of the show, for better or worse, and trying to make people believe they aren't there is not only pointless and confusing, but insulting to the creator, IMHO.
My point is simply this: if you see a show you want to air on your network, air it or don't. Messing with it kind of defeats the point. It wasn't intended for a target audience of single digit ages, and changing it to suit them changes the show. It also creates confusion when those 'kids' grow up later and look up the REAL show, and then go 'wtf. Why didn't they just show us this?'
It just complicates matters unnecessarily instead of letting people see the show for what it IS and forming an honest opinion about it, AS IS, instead of whatever watered down version they get. I feel the same way about censorship as I do about the english dubs or radio edits of song. They mask the real experience for no good reason and don't let you judge the real content on its own merits.

Hey, the English dub actually is pretty damn good. It only had the Japanese on Netflix when I watched it.

I would much rather watch a show in my native tongue if I had the chance. I would only watch the subbed version if
1. English dub was unavailable and the show was a must see. Or...
2. The English dub is so unbelievably bad that the only respite is to have the Japanese dub.
I don't get subheads, unless you actually speak Japanese. Very few shows have dubs so awful that you'd need to watch the show in Japanese (although I can think of a few really bad ones). Funimation tends to do a pretty bang up job in dubbing stuff, especially those five shows I mentioned that had better English dubs than Japanese dubs (DB, FMA, YYH, etc.)

But the most important reason to not give a fuck about dubs is that if you watch it subbed, you get it straight away and dont have to wonder if it will ever get dubbed which opens up a lot of choices

Kind of absurd to censor KLK, while it's mostly there for fan service there's a whole symbolism behind the sexual aspects of it like people getting completely distracted by their own perversions and causing adversities while it only empowers the characters that embrace it upon themselves.

+Sky rain might be a first airing VS future airing of the episode, sometimes when airing for the first time an episode will stay like the original and then be modified later after they get feedback. a bit like how a few years ago, when inuyasha was airing on ytv, it was bloody, you would see some naked breasts and stuff, after a while they restarted the series from episode one, and had replaced the blood with red light, and erased the breasts.
