This is probably one of my favorite materials yet-!! Also, because it's an actual 3D sphere, you technically can collide with it and stuff, so have fun messing with the settings-!!

Just a heads up, fresnel is pronounced "fre-nell", the S is silent. Great video!
I love black holes. I will say that adding another fresnel to create some falloff for the hard edges of the sphere also helps sell the effect
I immediately need to play with this on my own. Thank you for the the tutorial that's (as always) great and on point and for sharing your source.
That's so cool! More and more people like this 2-5 minute short tutorial.keep going
Great video.
fast, and problem solving tutorial. Thank you soo much 👍👍
Bro nice and quick tutorials
Best ever video about UE Ever
For who saw "Refraction(Disabled)" thing, go to materials details and write "Refraction" and chose the kind you want.

Fre-nel (with silent S). Great video though. Your stuff is clear and straight to the point.
AMAZING!
Thank you every time
Just fyi, the s in Fresnel is silent
Can I make any object into a black hole material? Something like a square or a triangle or a mesh?
Algo!
hey man you seems to learn unreal engine quite fast, could you explain to me how do go about learning something becuase i seem to struggle learning these stuff. Thanks:)
Sure thing - I'll probably make a separate series about that in a few months after we've gone through the Unreal stuff -
can someone tell me why why my time node is not doing anything? Is there a loop that yall can show me that I can use instead of the time node or something?
hey, great tutorial I understood everything, except when I have the same inputs that you have in the refraction it doesn't create the cool distorting effect around it. Any ideas/tips?
Also when I set the blend mode to translucent it doesn't turn the refraction on it stays greyed out. I have to scroll down and manually set it to either 'Index Of Refraction' "Pixel Normal Offset' and '2D Offset' and none of these cause the distortion either. I am unsure of what im doing wrong. UE5.2.1 btw
@@kuiper7002 hi, did you find the solution? settings > engine scalability settings > set high or epic
@@kuiper7002 did you find a solution? same problem
Solution: theres a refraction tab in details (of the material) and you can set refraction method to "Index of refraction"
I love how we actually know what black holes look like experimentally at this point. But this is cool too. ;-)
Also, you're pronouncing "Fresnel" wrong. It's a French name.
Fruh-nel for the curious
@@DaDarkDragon Or "frey-nel" perhaps, if you want a *really* French accent.
Another one, Euler is pronounced oy-ler.

Your videos are the tits mate. Straight to the point no fucking around🫡
Any chance for a tut on water/stream falls? Like the lil ones you get during rainfall coming off a building?:D
