- We’re finally here! I hope you guys enjoy my reaction to the Season 3 finale of Supergirl. It’s been my pleasure to react this season, and I wasn’t expecting the finale to leave me in tears like it did! I know I will miss the characters who aren’t returning next season...ok I’ll miss “some” of the characters. Either way, now we have to figure out that cliffhanger??
*immediately comes to Lena's defense...* sameeee
that said, I do think she'll have a struggle arc. just hope it's handled well
I think the Black Kryptonite split Kara into two, just like it did Sam and Reign, I think that’s what the end means. The Lena scene has me a bit worried because the writers, obviously. Just because she’s a Luthor doesn’t mean she’s evil.
Also, can I just say how much I enjoyed seeing Alura use her powers and save the world with Kara, like that was a highlight for me. Seeing how much her daughter has grown, no doubt she was proud. I loved what Erica Durance did with the character and I hope she comes back next season for guest spots.
Lena commenting on how great of a mom Alex will become because she has seen how well she took care of Ruby, is honestly all I could ever want. And the group hug between Alex, Lena, and Sam...#AgentReignCorp 😂.
Agree with you 100% Emily, I hate seeing Alex cry. But our girl got promoted!! #DirectorDanvers 🙌🏻
Yap the black rock is going to be how they do a really famous superman comic where he is in Russia but with her
could be Overgirl reborn
Kyle Voltti could be with a little explanation but I don't think a former Nazi would side with any part of Russia or former Russia I think more clone kinda it will be interesting to see how they explain it
i don't think Lena is evil....i just think she wants to do all the research she can, regardless of what supergirl thinks
MyNameIsAprille exactly she knows this rock could be dangerous but she also knows it could do something great for the world so she had to deal with that question even though it can be bad does that mean we shouldn't use it for the good that it can provide as well like nuclear power it can be bad but also good I hope the show hits on that next season as a way of showing she's doing good even when she might get into trouble doesn't mean she's evil
The one thing missing for me is Kara telling Lena she's supergirl
Or supergirl saying she's Kara both works...
Too bad Lex was the first one to tell her.
When Sam, Reign and Kara touched the Black Kryptonite,it created an evil Kara. Same as when the Black Kryptonite divided Sam and Reign into two different people.
The Kara at the end is Evil Kara and they are either making her the villain of season 4 or Lena, or maybe even both.
maybe evil kara seduced lena to the dark side. and now they are planning world domination
There is no confirmation on whether or not Kara's doppelganger will be Evil.
Carlos Huiskens there isnt but thats what black kryptonite does and the scene with the soldiers was actually a rip away from the comics.
Actually you're a bit wrong on that. Black Kryptonite was a original concept on the television show Smallville. On that show Black Kryptonite was used multiple times to separate A being into two separate beings not necessarily one good and one evil. It was first used on Clark to separate him from his kryptonian ''Kal-El'' side. And Kal-El wasn't evil by nature he simply didn't have his human side to keep him grounded. This is why the Kal-El version of Clark was fully focused on fulling his Destiny.
It was used a second time on accident on Lex when he experimented with it. This result split him into a good and evil side. And it was used a third time on Doomsday by splitting Davis bloom from the Beast and by nature neither of them are actually Evil. Doomsday of itself probably doesn't even know what evil is. Its simply a killing machine. At least that is how he's depicted on Smallville.
Afterwards Black Kryptonite was formally introduced into the Supergirl comics as a form of kryptonite that separates one into a Good and Evil version. But ultimately its up to the writers of Supergirl how to interpret the effects of this version of Black Kryptonite.
As for the finale scene its meant as a Easter Egg towards the Superman: Red Son comic. And its been confirmed that season 4 will borrow some of its elements. But also in that comic the Superman that grew up in the Soviet Union wasn't evil by nature. So the only thing i can hope for is that they don't go for a Evil Kara next season. We've had 3 sounds in a row of Evil-ish Super powered female villains. Basically copying the Flash with having 3 Evil speedsters for 3 seasons long. So it would be good for the show to switch it up a little.
Really you call her Karla? Don't tell me you've been watching this show for 3 years and call her Karla haha. Also if you don't enjoy the show then don't watch it.
Red Son is a masterpiece comic, in this alternative universe Superman grown up in Urss. I have all the fears the CW writers they will make a shit adaptation. The conflict between Luthor and Superman is huge in this comic.
Good news! They didn’t really do an adaptation, just used Red Daughter and had the best live action Lex Luthor in recent memory (plus politics).
I'm sad if Sam isn't coming back......like the Daver sisters together. Want more of Lena next season. And please get Alex a love interest.
Deb Anderson why
I still think Sam should have been Alex's love interest.
Actually, David confirmed today on instagram that he's back full time next season. :) Glad you enjoyed the finale. :)
The ending was actually Kara's clone created by the Harun-el(i think) but it was for sure her clone.
One question: will you be reacting to season 4 when it comes out? 'Cause i really hope so, your reactions are the best
I'm sad that Sam wont be a regular next season she's only in a few episodes x
She MIGHT be in a few episodes. Nothing has been confirmed yet as far as i know.
hahahaha 10:55 I laughed so hard =DD "Legends are gonna show up and be like nonono!" Had I not seen the episode I thought Kara was gonna bump into waverider on the way up
The black kryptonite split Kara into two people like Sam/ Reign. I hope we get more Kara and Lena scenes next season! Overall it was and interesting episode. I will forever support Lena Luthor even if they make her evil!
Well if this is the case then is cool...evil Supergirl is the best! The best episode from the whole show was the one with Red Kryptonite
That makes much more sense!!! So basically like crisis-x Kara.
Tunxh Yeah pretty much but Siberian
I'm lowkey dying for Lena to find out Kara is supergirl.
MyNameIsAprille honestly same I hate that she has to lie to her friend to “protect her”. She’s a Luthor she’s always in danger!
This episode it’s the way the whole season should have been...emotional, about friendship, the fight scenes it was amazing... it was so beautiful to me! Its so sad that the ruined previous episodes
Can't wait to see season 4 ,what will happen with Lena character
Supercorp 45 she going to become a evil bitch
simplyxnoella oh my god yessss
That Phil of the Future reference slapped me across the face.
And thanks for your reactions this season! I'm glad you stuck with it. Not cause it's a great show, but because there's so much to learn from it. Mostly from its mistakes. I think this fandom has grown and become more educated because of all the conversations it brought up.
Wow. Someone finally called Alex a hero. Amazing.
i hope ALEX DANVERS falls in love again
dayna palomino with Maxwell Lord? Me too. He needs to come back to the show.
the fancy rock that they used to end Reign splits kryptonians apart so when kara touched it, it made to versions of her
they are doing the Red Daughter storyline!!! The basic premise is: what if instead of EUA, the kryptonian pod landed on Russia ?"
It's based on a Superman story from the early 2000's.
Except that wasn't Russia but USSR, which doesn't exist anymore and Russia today has nothing to do with communism, and the main theme of the story was how absolute power corrupts even good guys - which wouldn't work here since black Kryptonite Kara would be all evil.
Haru-nel is like black kryptonite, it is able to split or join two halves of a kriptonian.
Your reactions are EVERYTHING! I always look forward to them! Will you be reacting to season 4? I know you said there was a possibility that you weren't going to, so I'm just wondering-I love watching your Supergirl reactions because you always analyse the episode really well and we share a lot of the same opinions! I'm definitely a fan of yours!
I think Jon is a private detective now, like in comics. Read the minds, so it's an easy job for him. And the ending may mean that season 4 will be based on Red Son.
That's Imra legion ring not a wedding ring, they never wore any marriage ring.
Just like Barry Allen did Kara changed the timeline causing disasters such as another Kara
Super excited for the clean slate for next season. I have a good feeling they're going to it well this time. Lena will never be evil, but she clearly can disagree with the Supergirl team and both sides be right. She believes in scientific advancement by any means because thats her way of helping people. That's it. Supergirl thinks differently. That's it. And that's a great conflict story. Not good vs bad, but two conflicting ideologies with the same goal trying to work around each other
The second Kara is unknown there are a few possibility. Either the rock split Kara into 2 or their are consequences to time travel because why isn't there. Or alternate dimension version. Superman: Red Son features a superman who landed in Russia instead of America and how that changed history and DC Bombshells has a Supergirl who landed in Russia before WW2 who becomes a hero alongside other WW2 versions of superheroes.
I freaking CRIED at the end with Winn!!
Am I the only one that’s gonna miss Mon-el?😭
Amanda Moskal no
I'm gonna miss winn
The ending means they are about to do the famous graphic novel story "Red Son". In that GN, superman's rocket landed in Russia vs America, and he was raised to become a commie super leader. They are doing it seems, a Supergirl version, and this is a duplicate of Kara caused by her time travel.
Thank you Emily Anne for the devoted reviews the whole season and by the way you are looking gorgeous and full of energy.
The black rock on the show is called black kryptonite in the comics and it’s known to split a kryptonian in half one good one bad that Kara at the end was the bad one
The Alex and Lena moment had fucking tension
Mon el is gone!!!! Woohoo. Now if we get evil Kara after Lena. Omg. The possibilities of evil Kara. Lol. Cannot wait. They just need to end lames. I still think Lena is good and will discover and create something good
I love your reactions, thank you for making them:)
I'm with you. Lena not being a "company man" doesn't mean she's evil. Toeing the line Lena is so much more fun and filled with creative opportunities than the trite, cliche, boring ol' Lena's a Luthor so she must turn against the Supers trope.
this episode was emotional I like director Danvers and the Winns leaving scene was just a tear jerker. can't wait for season 4.
lena as the big bad is cool.
thanks for all your hard work this season.
brainy is in season 4.
I know I CRIED at the Winn part
I thought Brainy went back to the futrec. Hmm
- Lena and James are still Lames. NO!
- Emily, for the space between now and when "Wynonna Earp" premieres, can I recommend "Legion"? The gay stuff doesn't happen until about the end of season two, but I think that you'd like the cinematography throughout the whole show.
Kris Smith Lenny having that one drug fueled hookup is the only gay thing I remember. Is there anything else I'm forgetting?
8:37 Oh look! It's Harry Potter and Dumbledore drinking the poison of the hocruxs! :D
Did you do Phil of the Future only switched it with Winn? 😂😂❤️❤️ I love your reactions so much. I can’t wait for Wynonna Earp
They're doing the Superman 3 timeline. Or red son timeline m look it up ;)
Looks like they're going to do Superman: Red Son, where Clark landed in Russia instead of Kansas, but with Supergirl instead. This'll be interesting!
Can you react to "the bold type" please
omg yes please
I cant believe they got rid of Winn instead of James.
JadeTheMonkeyGirl I think Jeremy Jordan wanted to leave expand his horizons etc
Actually, now that I think about it, Lena having the kryptonite might be a good thing because of Evil Supergirl. They can just put them together again.
Looks like they are taking inspiration from the Superman: Red Son comic book arc (to explain the end)
Goodbye Mon-L can't say I will miss you
No one will miss you too, and btw, you're pathetic none existent ship called supercrap will still not happen.
lol too real
That’s your opinion don’t mean you have to spread negativity. I could just tell everyone you know how much of an idiot you are, I won’t keep that to myself.
Supercorp 45 Of Course you Can't 😒😤😔
Same lol
HERE for the undercut. Has that always existed?!
When Sam, Lena,Ruby and Alex had a group hug that's a family support.John what will he do?Winn will go to the future i'll miss him the bestfriend of Kara and i like him than James to be Kara's bf at first.About Alex and Lena when she first visited Danvers place i thought she and Alex gonna have some relationship but nothing..Black Kyptonite might split Kara into 2..wow interesting i just don't want Lena to be riding the bad Luthor's name but writer's might go into it.Danver sisters i just love them.
My guess: Siberia Kara is.basically.a time remnant - like in The Flash. They may be doing a Supergirl take on the Superman "Red Son" story.
I've come to realize I only watch this show for Alex Danvers.
We are not saying evil, just that the road to hell can be paved with good intention. Lena had to hide out at Catco for the first part of the season because she did not trust herself after being manipulated by Rhea into having her creation used to bring an invading army to Earth. Now she is researching alien minerals used for Terraforming.
I too was surprisingly pleased with how all the character arcs ended up! And they faked out most of them going really badly too :P Many characters dying, Alex resigning... nooope :D
Kinda sad Mon-el is totally gone, he became quite a bro.
Lena is doing nothing wrong! Maybe a bit foolhardy and dangerous but not evil!!
For season 4 they're gonna do the Red Son story arc
Dont forget supergirl is in different universe than legends
Also, Kara created a new timeline, different from where everybody died. Barry would be ....little angry.
Maybe Kara has a split persona too now like Sam and Reign. It could've happened when they all had their hands on the haren-el (that's probably spelled wrong, sorry). The bad guy in season 4 might be Kara herself.
The black rock used to separate Reighn and Sam also separated supergirl and Kara
I read a theory on twitter from @littlemachine_ on twitter, that Lena could be affected by the handling of that rock because they were unaware of the side affects.
That ending is a Superman storyline from the comics. It's pretty good tbh. Have you heard Floriana supposedly wants to come back?
Always enjoyed your reactions.....thanks.
Amazing episode!!! End scene I think Red Daughter!! Or Powergirl !! 🤔🤔🤔
It was amazing watching you react this season
The Black Kryptonite split Kara into two, one evil and one good. So... troubles ahead next season
You can also time jump if you have a connection to the speedforce to
Did you just drop a Phil of the Future reference? How dare you hit me in the feels like that!
I bet you when Kara watched Star Wars she went through all the planets and said whether they were real or not
I agree with Charles Durham's comment, Red Son/Red Daughter storyline for S4. Be interesting to see how it is interpreted.
So since you don't watch The Flash, Barry can go back in time too and he has MULTIPLE times. just to let you know, its a very bad idea thats why the Legends take care of it.
I wish they had shown Supergirl turning back time, like they did in Superman. We know that’s what she did, but they didn’t show it.
Well Kara can always take B5 to see a Star Wars marathon.
I suppose the Fountains of Lilith should be allowed because it was shown from the start that Reign was created with magic that had to come from somewhere. This season was fantastic as were your reactions.
They really pulled this off
yasssss Red Son supergirl!!!!!!!
ok I know you hate karamel and all but please tell me that you do realize that this was a ridiculous conclusion to their storyline, I mean they had them admit their feelings two episodes ago, they went through the whole Mon-El/Imra thing finally separating them and for what?! just to make Mon-El miserable. I still can't believe the writers said that the plan was always to have Mon-El for two seasons bc it really looks like they just found out Chris was leaving right before filming 3x23 or just totally forgot about their scene in 3x21
I have the same Wonder Woman cup. And the Kara at the end is The Red Daughter or Red Son Supergirl.
That scene with the spirits was just like that scene in Ghost where the bad guy gets dragged off.
I think season 4 might explore the iconic red son story line. With power girl..
Season Four is gonna be A take on Superman Red Son; Supergirl Red Daughter. That’s why she is in Russia
Charles Durham or Last Daughter of Krypton...
havok6280 It’s going to be a take from the Superman mythos. czcams.com/video/tG0UUdGI01o/video.html this link will explain what they are going to attempt to do
Charles Durham that's based on an assumption. There is also a Supergirl story called Last Daughter of Krypton that takes place in Siberia. They could draw from either story. Google it if you like...
Red Son is a great story, but the Soviet Union doesn't exist anymore. Plus it's an elseworld story. It doesn't occur in the main continuity. Plus CW shows tend to draw from New 52 stories...
havok6280 Well it’s a safe assumption. 50% likelihood. If it’s not, okay.
Charles Durham 50/50 is not good odds... it's not even more likely than not...and I'm not even sure what you're basing that on... but we'll see in the fall...
Legends wouldn't care about Kara's time travel unless they exist on Earth 38 in the Arrowverse. Legends with Sara Lance and company takes place on Earth 1 where Barry Allen is main culprit of time travel foolery.
I think the ending had something to do with supergirl fucking with the timeline maybe. Idk
Lena doesn't have to be evil to be an antagonist to Supergirl. She can be good for the people and bad for Supergirl at the same time, which is actually what Lillian wanted all along. She'll just be less terrorist-y about it. Lena wants to help the world. If Supergirl likes it, fine - if she doesn't, tough.
Danvers Sister is the truest and they better not make Lena go evil.
Also, I think Kara got exposed to Black Kryptonite, which splits a Kryptonian into two separate entities
It also will be funny if they have Kara and Lena end up together(thats if Kara tells Lena she is Supergirl) in season 5, pulling a Korrasami or have a comic where they are together as a spinoff like them going on vacation.
Also, you make a very good point about Lena and Regina. I never thought of that. They both have moms who were terrible(but Cora did get her bit of redemption). They both have siblings that were bad. And they both are being constantly judge for their family or their own actions. Nice take away.
Also, if you dont mind. Im writing a fanfic about my reaction to Supergirl and I was hoping you like to read it?
Kara got split into two. Melissa plays evil version better than sweet kara as proven in episode 16 season 1 the fallen which is still top 3 episodes thus far on imdb it was that good. Season 4 will follow split kara theme
geez, we have the same reaction in the last part and i love how they pull this finale.
Nice reaction! I felt all the endings to the arcs were really well-earned but also unexpected yet sensible? IDK, I always feel the writers do a really good job with emotional character work if not always consistency. One correction tho, Jeremy Jordan is now a recurring role on the show. David Harewood is still a regular. Chris Woods is no longer a regular or recurring.
This chick be like - "all the men are leaving - yay! Let's ship all the women!" Haha
Lena isn't evil... yet. They're following Smallville's blueprint almost... where Clark and Lex were good friends and then Lex found out Clark's secret and took that as a betrayal. That's how I see the Lena/Supergirl relationship going.
They're doing a version of the Superman storyline "Red Son," where instead of landing in Kansas as a baby, he lands in Russia.
I am totally on board with the Winn/Brainy ship! 100% that's gotta happen. It's what we need.
10:55 The Legends were on Earth-1. Supergirl was on Earth-38. 11:19 It's not the same universe. Not at the time of this episode. Only now (Post-Crisis on Infinite Earths), are they all on Earth-Prime. Also, Barry Allen (and other speedsters) can time travel.
I kinda feel bad that reign died
She was one of the best supervillains kara fought.
In s4 its probably gonna be another evil kara. In my opinion reign was one of the best villains in the show, kinda hot aswell tbh
Brightside Mon-El is gone bye Felicia .
ChivyD darkside
Im tired of evil Karas !!!!!!!!!! They need to renew themselves !!!!!! What about Cadmus ?!?! Huh ?!?! What about THAT storyline ?!!!
I like evil karas they arnt gunna stop bringing her up for someone like you
Margaux C r u seeious evil kara is acting on point!!!!! Better acting then a 3vil Oliver qu33en how many evil speedsters did we have ;)
I do like Evil Kara back in Season 1 when Kara was exposed to Red Kryptonite. That episode was great. I just feel like it doesn't bring anything new to the story since we've already seen it done before when it comes to our hero facing evil version of themselves; Crisis on Earth-X and The Flash Season 3. Surely, I hope they changed my mind on it when Season 4 starts. I am hoping that maybe this Kara ends up becoming Power Girl. But, for now, I am not feeling Dark Supergirl with the background of Superman: Red Son.
Slade The Deathstroke they apparently say it might be a Russian supergirl
Slade The Deathstroke your judging how it’s gunna be before you’ve seen it. Maybe it’s going to be entirely different and better
The Legends and Time Bureau on Earth 1 are not going to interfere with changes to the timeline on Earth 38. It is well outside their jurisdiction and makes no impact on the Earth 1 timeline.
My predictions for Season 4:
-Lena and Kara will be adversarial. I said ADVERSARIAL, not that Lena will go full on supervillain, because i think it will take more than Kara and Lena disagreeing on stuff for Lena to take any kind of full turn to the dark side. However, the best villains are the ones with a lot of layers to them, and Lena definitely has that, so I think if anything, it's going to be a bunch of different things that make Lena and Kara part ways as friends. They already sowed the seeds this season for that to happen, so ..... it's inevitable that they're going to be enemies. Maybe Lena won't be evil, but as far as SuperCorp goes....it's already starting to unravel.
Sorry shippers, I've seen the evidence.
This show with that many members of the cast leaving and/or heading in for handfuls of episode arcs in Season 4, the show will look and feel very different than it was from this season.
-Brainiac 5 and Kara....canon. Calling it now. NOT A FAN SHIP, A REAL THING IN THE COMICS. Do with that infromation what you will.
-James and Kara still have Lena as their boss, but the world knows he's Guardian now. Definitely some repercussions coming for both him and Lena, and everyone else he cares about. But James is still keeping Kara's secret because he is a good friend. But i think in S4, Lena might get closer to kara's secret, which will put a certain amount of pressure on James to cover for Kara, so he either might tell Kara to come out about her identity OR the pressures of being a publicly outed superhero will make life worse for him and everyone else he cares about, including Lena and Kara. I LOVE DRAMA like this in the comics, the whole soap opera of what a hero does when someone finds out who they really are, so i think Im looking forward to that dramatic angle the most in S4.
_J'onn. Oh, J'onn, you awesome green-skinned Space Dad watching your kids grow up! Really loved how they put him in a fedora by the end, because its a nod to how he appeared in the comics in his early days as "random dude in trenchcoat and hat", so myself and other comics fans probably smiled when David Harewood put on "the hat", lol!
-Im guessing there will be guest appearances by David Harewood in the future, and Jeremy Jordan has confirmed on his social media that he'l have guest appearances in Season 4, so we'll definitely see Winn again at some point, worry not.
Overall .... this season felt very long and very disjointed with a lot of things I nitpicked due to lazy writing. SG needs a much tighter team of writers so they can make the show even more compelling and dramatic and not so "plot demands contrivance at this point, plot demands convenience at this point." I think I need a break at this point, because there were times the show genuinely made me roll my eyes and I wasnt sucked into what was happening at all, and other times I was like "Yeah, this actor has a great dramatic scene and they're acting their hearts out, but.....they're trying with this character, but it's just not coalescing in a satisfying way."
I might binge Season 4 after it's all released, but if Season 3 is any indication of the future of this show .... not sure I wanna invest anymore time. But we'll see. This Season was so all over the place it made my head spin. Hopefully its simpler and less convuluted next September....but im not getting my hopes up. Especially with this writing team. Serviceable but ... needed a ton of trimming.
I’m pretty sure that when Kara time-traveled and interacted with the Harynel(not sure if I spelled that right) it time displaced her. I think they are going to do their version of the Red Son storyline.
I am here for Supermon Allura!!!!! 💜💜💜💜 Can we please bring her back?!?! She reminds me of my mom. I think that so many of us can say our mom's are super.
Out of four siblings my older sister and I were always the fighters in the family literally learning boxing and mix martial arts. We have that temper problem in our DNA but our mom always turned into a worrior when it came down to defending us and teaching us to fight for what we want (not physically obviously).
That said I have not yet heard of the fountains of Lilith but Lilith is an actual character in the DC comics. She is obviously a villian and I think she might of been featured in Teen Titans # 25 edition 1970 Not sure but she is a thing. Other mentions of Lilith go way back in ancient Hebrew texts.
So, other than dumping half of their cast, great finale for Supergirl. Jeremy Jordan is going to be recurring character for next year, but Jon and Mon El are gone as far as I know.
Also, Kara should really have Barry and the Legends lecture her on screwing with time.
Kevin O'Grady J'onn will still be on the series, just that he will not be at the DEO.
Sorry, Legends is Earth-1 Timeline only, so no Sarah Lance or the rest of the team to interfere. Supergirl's Earth, Earth-38, hasn't shown any time travel outside of the Legion of Superheroes, though credit for the writers in finding a slightly more believable way for a Kyptonian to turn back time than what Superman did in the first movie. If they do have some sort of time travel enforcement, outside of the Legion and their habit of actively altering and interacting with the timeline, it would probably be something very different to the Earth-1 Time Masters, Legends and even the Multiverse spanning Speedforce, so who knows if Kara will run into them at some point. Not that she will need to, as the consequences of her actions are sure to make themselves known soon enough.
Random thought I just had: Does Kara know accurate Greek mythology because of Diana... ;)
