At the 03:24 - 03:36, you're probably wondering why there's no audio... Well, after a few hours of having this video live, I got a copyright claim from the band's publisher for having 12 seconds of the song playing in my video. So just to make it easy, I chose the option to mute it. But I still think you will all get the point...
rip
Its honestly way more comical that you had to mute.
"Check out these Toms"
*nothing*
@@Bruhaker Kinda why I did it. Hey, if their publisher doesn't want me using their music to highlight the band in a video talking about the band, then I won't. 😂😂
Is copyright really that bad? I tought it was allowed in this format.
Publishers are the merch cuts of distribution
So, essentially Sepultura, Suicidal Tendencies and Slipknot traded drummers.
like a big orgy
Exactly.
*Did they combine or something?!*
a rare 3-way band trade
@@TheAbysssarian the one who got fired from slipknot is in ST now, i imagine
As a brazilian, i'm very proud of our Casagrande (BIG HOUSE, hahaha) represeting us in one of the best metal bands in history!
ELOY IS THE BEST DRUMMER IN THE WORLD!! SO TALENTED!! 🇧🇷 FINEST!😎😈🤟💪🦾
Brazillian sucks
Eloy e Kiko ! Infelizmente o Kiko teve que sair por motivos familiares, mas porra, quem iria imaginar a 20 anos atrás que brasileiros estariam em duas das maiores bandas de metal de todos os tempos?!?!?!? Muy Fuéda!
As a big Sepultura fan and with the band coming to an end soon. I am so glad Eloy found a new home and I can start following Slipknot a little more closely now
And Greyson is doing an incredible job in Sepultura! I was worried because replacing Eloy was a tall order.
Honestly his arrival to Slipknot seems to have spark something, they sound absolutely insane on stage
And by the end of that 40 years last tour, we, old School sepultribe fans will have finally, the end of the biggest metal soup opera of the 90's. We will have that classic line up reunion.
@@yessitsme6884 Greyson has done a great job. I was also worried. I was like man, I hope this guy can play Eloy’s stuff. But he’s fit in really well and if they tour close by, I will definitely catch one last show.
@@nachomagallanico Would be cool to see a reunion.
No drummer should be mad or angry about being replaced by Eloy. If it was me and I got replaced by Eloy, I'd be like "yeah, I get it".
That's assuming that the band had their sight set on Eloy before letting Jay go, which I don't know if that's the case or not.
They did they were training Eloy for the last 3.5yrs to nail these tracks like he is. His heretic anthem video just proves it.
@@michaelflythe519where did you get that 3.5 year number? It doesn’t take a competent musician 3.5 years to learn a setlist. Eloy’s a good drummer, he could’ve learned their entire catalog in like 6 months.
@@SurfinTheKaliYugayeah the other guys on some conspiracy theory bs no I do believe they had Eloy picked out before letting jay go based on the press release saying they wanted to go in a different creative direction but yeah it’s highly unlikely they were training him for years it’s more likely he was probably just practicing like hell for the past 6 months
@@theonewhoshitposts9727I mean, definitely probable that they already had Eloy in mind before letting anyone go. For sure. The 3.5 year thing threw me through a loop tho lmao. I learned everything from Self-Titled through All Hope Is Gone in like a year, and I was nowhere near as good as Eloy is, so I KNOW it took him less than that lmao
They sounded absolutely incredible at SNW!! They played all their old hits with the exception of Unsainted. Eloy really did Eyeless justice.
I hear and sounded like Coreys mic was very low.
@@CradlePayne the sound for that stage wasn't great overall all day, guitars kind of fading in and out, mic low, but the drums were tight
@@stryker914 it may also be explained if you notice how hard Eloy "smashed" the drum. LOL
He probably had to retire that particular set. kkkk
He always hits it hard, but seemed he hit it a little bit harder that particular night.
Blaaaahh blaaahh blaaaash they suck now
@@garydobbs5159 ur a death metal elitist relax. Bolt thrower sucked from day 1
I’ve watched both recent Eloy shows and they were absolutely brutal with Eloy on drums. No more tempo rushing. More power. Absolutely dead accurate.
Crazy good.
Not gonna make many friends saying this but Eloy is by a good margin the best drummer Slipknot had. It’s like Dirk Verbeuren in Megadeth…Yes, Joey was an icon and a pioneer and Jay is unquestionable gifted but Eloy is a phenom, won international drum contests at 14 and did pro metal gigs at 16. They were able to sign a guy that may be way above whatever the band can throw at him.
Yeah, I really like eloy’s drum writing, and the only thing left is to see how that matches slipknot’s compositions, but by sheer technicalities, dynamics, power, style, time keeping, it’s simply no contest. The guy grooves like nobody.
Like, even the rest of the band sounds better due to eloy simply keeping better time, it’s amazing. Slipknot never sounded bad live, but I feel like this might be the push they need to become one of these goated bands that put on an impecable live show
I totally agree with you. Eloy is an absolute monster on drums. One of the best metal drummers in the world these days. And Slipknot hit jackpot with this guy. Let's see how things will evolve from now on.
U made a new friend
After watching the “mini show” and watching the drummer you can tell it’s Eloy by the way he moves behind the kit. He has a very distinctive head bob or head nod when he plays and you can see it plain as day..
Tattoos. We learned from V-man joining that Slipknot is bad at covering distinctive tattoos.
@@pretzelsaregood57 yeah, this also. But before I ever seen the tattoos it was obvious who this guy was.. lol
Tattoos, physique, mannerisms, drum kit. Like Slipknot said "the answer is all around"
First time I see an american pronounce Eloy's name correctly.
We brazilians are very proud of him.
I am not usually proud of things I did not do myself. Speak for yourself, mate
I’m absolutely overwhelmed by Eloys drumming !! What an incredible drummer !!🤘🏼
I must say after watching their first show with Eloy I was blown away how much better he made the band sound, I'm a guitar player even but I enjoyed watching Eloy most of the time.
I just want to hear new music with him, Jay did fine but Eloy can really elevate them.
Jay was fine ? He was heavy metal drummer of the year twice !!!! Played everything great !!!!
@@paulletchworth2036 Because he was voted for by Slipknot fans, yeah. He was good, yes, but he's no Eloy.
@@slipknotpurity00 the guy on CZcams is better than Eloy
@@paulletchworth2036 Yeah he is an outstanding drummer for sure, but for some reason I'm just more excited to see Eloy play with them.
Corey Taylor has said in interviews before, that the band loved when their fans were obsessed with finding out who they all were and were matching tattoos with candid photos and stuff
I'm pretty stoked about the band now too. For their live shows, Eloy is a god-tier performer (and doesn't RUSH HIS TEMPOS, even through his fills!!!!), but also excited for the writing possibilities. Really hope they write at least 1 new album together.
In Italy it's a common pratice to have non resellable tickets. Tickets are nominal, and in case you get sick and can't fo the seller's website provides a safe channel to resell them. It happened last year to a friend of my mom (yes, my mom is 73 and still goes to rock shows): she was due for a surgery on the day of the concert, so she went back to the website and sold her ticket for the price she had bought it minus a minimal fee. (Surgery went very well.)
Having a strong drummer like Eloy, allows the band to essentially " lay back" into the songs without any worry. Even in the videos being posted it can be felt. They seem very relaxed and comfortable in the material. The power and groove that Eloy provides just seems to wrap right around the songs. This is going to be good indeed.
Going to watch my first ever Slipknot concert in December and cannot wait.
I am curious how Slipknot's sound will change with Eloy when they put out new music. He is a super creative drummer. He could push them in a direction that I personally would like more than I have any of the music they made with Jay. I mean Jay is an awesome drummer, but IMO he's pretty mid in the creativity aspect.
Eloy is goovy af. Not to mention clean while hitting like a truck. Ngl I'm kinda hyped.
Yeah agree totally. You only have to listen to Quadra to see and hear how incredibly talented and creative a drummer he is, not afraid to take a potentially straightforward piece of music and just complete rewrite the way you approach it when coming up with the drum parts. I'm seeing a lot of comments primarily on how hard a hitter he is; totally correct and understandable given he's playing parts he didn't come up with. I look forward to the point when it's his take on the Slipknot sound and where HE wants to take the new sound they have with him in the band.
That show had an energy we haven't seen from them in years.
The best they’ve ever looked and played. I always hated that “we don’t like clicks cuz we like it raw” because every time I saw them,
the songs and the pace all felt wrong. It also made it harder for Corey to scream when it was faster
This is one of the first things I noticed. Eloy really slowed the tempo down live to match the album. Joey and Jay both played so fast and everyone else had to speed up.
4:05 Eloy is a brilliant drummer, for sure. What gets under my skin is the way Slipknot tend to treat… their drummers. Joey, founding member, was fired via email and Jay via social media, to me that’s all wrong. Joey was fired since the band believed he was on drugs when he in fact was sick. Jay had his knee operation coming up and Slipknot couldn’t risk being without a drummer at this vital moment, so that’s probably why Jay was replaced. If they ever replace Eloy I do hope they treat him with a lot more respect.
Mate it’s made very clear that Hoey condition was a result of heavy drugs and alcohol, his condition was common for relapses with Heroin, unfortunately he made bad choices, we don’t need to compare these artists they all played a major part in the bands journey and Eloy is at the wheel now.
@@aaronclark-pearman9030 To me it’s what WAY they were fired. Joey via email and Jay via social media. Joey was actually sick when he died. He worked like a maniac to stay in the band but he had no chance.
However, we can both agree on the fact the Eloy has already make the other members stoked about playing again. 🤘🏻🇸🇪🤘🏻
@@aaronclark-pearman9030 heroin is the devil’s own brand. The disease Joey suffered from is a distant relative to MS, and you can’t have to be an addict to get that. Horrible disease, kills with discrimination.
This whole tour is gold. Really like how stripped down stage set is. Cant wait to see them later this year.
What Slipknot is doing is like the traditional easter egg hunt, where the eggs are hidden... but are not really hidden.
It is just fun to see the kids looking for it.
we back 2000s slipknot
Not only were the tickets $9, but Slipknot donated the money to the Joshua Tree No Kill Animal Shelter and the Boys and Girls Club of the Hi-Desert, and the venue matched it up to $5k I think.
Eloy sounds Sooo good I just don’t get people shitting on Jay. And don’t compare either to Joey 🐐🤘🏽🔥
Yeah 100%. All three drummers that have now been in this band are all legendary and great drummers in their own right. It doesn't need to be a competition.
@@TankTheTech man I truly appreciate your point of view and inside looks you give us great stuff Brotha 🤘🏽🤝🏽🔥🔥
@@TankTheTechtyosvm for that
@@TankTheTechagreed!
Something fun that isn't being mentioned nearly enough...
Jay Weinberg having joined Suicidal Tendencies, that band now has Jay WEINberg and Ben WEINman, both legendary (in their own rights) guitarists originally based out of NJ (with Jay having relocated to Nashville and Ben staying local to NJ and actually having opened up a coffee shop in his town). Jay's father, Max, plays drums for legendary a rock artist from NJ (Bruce Springsteen, aka the Boss), whereas Jay himself is playing drums with a legendary metal artist from NJ.
Also, I'm well acquainted with Ben (to the point where I get a "friends and family" discount from his new coffee shop), since I live locally to him, so it's pretty wild that he's now playing with a drummer that really helped shaped my love for metal in Slipknot's WANYK.
Anywho, I think Suicidal Tendencies is a much better fit for Jay, as it plays to his punk roots strengths so much better. And I think Eloy is a much better fit for Slipknot on drums. So, while it sucks that Jay got fired and Eloy left Sepultura in the dust, I think it's overall a win-win-win for all three drummers and bands. Eloy's in a band that can benefit greatly from his drumming, Jay's in a band where he can shine more, and Greyson's now drumming with one of the biggest metal bands in the world, finally getting his well-deserved recognition.
Thanks for pronouncing Eloy's name correctly 👏
Yeah, it's hard for the Americans said the "E" like we say in Portuguese. And for those who don't know, it's like he is saying on this video haha
Stfu nobody cares
He pronouncing like Gran "Jay" like the letter J but its more like G
even with Sepultura, he did great
@@SaltyHoldy Exactly
As a tech person I figured you’d be psyched to hear eloys rig with Slipknot, the snare and toms are massive
I was at Sick New World. Like you I’ve been a fan of the band since ‘99, and kind of like you’re saying, people like what they like. You wouldn’t know the online gripes existed by the crowd on Saturday night. Didn’t hear a single mention of sour grapes about lineup changes or anything else. Just 70-80k people enjoying Brand Slipknot doing its thing and doing it well for their first big show out of the gate.
Eloy used to play in a band in Brazil. When he left to join sepultura, the band never found another drummer on the same level and went downhill. Slipknot better stick with the man 😂
As a Brazilian - and an American - Sepultura became huge in 1996 with Roots, but they didn't know how to maintain its peak and was destroyed by ego, after that it went downhill and nothing relevant happened. Just look at the festivals with the name Sepultura minuscule at the bottom, and Slipknot headlining. There is no way to compare. In terms of his professional decision, Eloy did absolutely what any intelligent musician would do. Way to go!
Sure also picked up a nice check from all this and just made his CV even more impressive
Well...the lead singer leaving after that album to start Soulfly didn't help
The videos of the energy of the band that came out of this performance.....so damn cool!
This is probably really stupid but when I saw footage from that first show, I noticed the big drums up front were basically Tama bass drums whereas they were custom made before so that was a possible hint that it was Eloy. But then you hear the playing....especially the double kicks which aren't as clicky as some other really fast players since Eloy doesn't use triggers. I'm also back to being interested in the band once again. Their live performances from the past few years were starting to look like a circus act with everything going on on stage. Can't wait to hear an album with Eloy on it!
First time in your channel and I must say that I find truly amazing that you ended the video saying for people to be kind to each other. Much respect. Rock on!
Eloy is a monster on the drums.
So happy they pick them 🔥🔥🔥🔥
As a diehard Sepultura fan I have always advocated for some sort of collab between Eloy and Slipknot bit instead I got the whole package
Kudos for pronouncing Sepultura and Casagrande like Brazilians would! Cool attention to detail and great video and general!
Been a fan since 99 and after watching the mini show, all I can say is "they are back!" This took me back to their self-titled album days. It's good to see and I hope this means we won't be losing them for a while longer. The fire has been reignited!
There were so many different stuff showing he was the man, but some people were still skeptical about it, even after the pictures of papa's concert where we could clearly see his tattoos.
Thanks for the videos in which you highlighted and clarified the reasons why it was definitely him.
And curiously this video was released right at the same day the band posted a picture tagging him. 😅
Agree 100%, super excited about Slipknot for the first time since the Grey Chapter. Can't wait to hear it!! 🤘
I watched the whole show and it was amazing. He played the correct tempo and almost played the songs beat for beat how it was written plus adding in his own flare. I wasn’t really a fan of Jay’s drumming either Slipknot but I’m very excited to see what Eloy does with any new material.
I‘m a (hobby) drummer since 1993 when I was 15, and I am not a huge fan of Metal, but I certainly do like a few Metal songs and even stuff from Slipknot.
And even to me it seems more than logical that Eloy joined them, if I would have been offered such a chance I would have jumped on it immediately.
Eloy is an amazingly talented and gifted drummer, he fits this band from head to toe! And of course Ian is right in saying „Slipknot is way bigger than Sepultura ever was and probably will be“…
Thanks for covering this topic, I‘ve seen the complete video from their tiny concert and I enjoyed it but I was mostly only looking (and hearing) to the drum stuff 😉
All the best from Germany 🇩🇪, Philipp 👋
dope video and commentary Tank
0:13 I walk past this every morning at work to go get ice. I never thought I would ever see these guys up there on that stage. And of all the nights for them to be there, still doesn't feel real
thats dope man
I’ve been waiting on this!!
stoked for this tour; haven't seen them live since '01 and hope they go heavy with the classics
besides the obvious things you mentioned the giveaway for me as a drummer was that his gear was the same eloy plays (tama starclassic, paiste cymbals, promark sticks etc.)
eloy brought the band to a whole new level. he is so tight, its almost like a drum machine. the only thing that bothered me in the performance were the sloppy percussions. i mean tbh. just don‘t mic up the percussions or just bury them in the mix and everything would be so much better lol.
i was a big slipknot/ joey fan but when he got fired i was kinda done with the band. now that i‘m not a „fan“ anymore i can get over the fact that they‘re turning into the blue man group of metal and replace probably everyone but corey and clown
but for the first time in like 11 years i‘m hyped for new slipknot music. something i thought i would never say again.
Thanks for this video, man. Eloy is just explosive!
I can’t wait until December, I was looking forward to it anyway but now I’m really looking forward to seeing them.
Happy Birthday to number 1! Best boy Joey🖤
6:43 the amount of hype that was already there blew up by both the source code slip-up" and not covering his tattoos drove so much engagement it's been crazy.
Can´t wait to see them live for the first timer ever this year!
Very good ideias man, subscribing for sure. Love from Brazil
This was awesome. Even more excited for them at Rockville
just got off rotation from flying with an act around the country. Manager said he knew you and it was a small world. I liked him a ton after he said he knew you. Jay with Dierks
I think it is always good to see the fan base just invested in the band and a new member in the band. Like when Paul passed away I was invested to see who they were going to get to replace him.
I’m so excited to see them live now
As a Brazilian, I would drop sepultura to join slipknot in a heartbeat. Eloy knows what's best for him and for us
After all that is just a superior marketing move! They timed it like that, so all of the metal community is now talking about if it could be him and finding out it is Eloy. Badum rs, now Slipknot has our attention. Job done!
I'm with you, i think this is huge, not just for Slipknot but metal as a whole. From what i have seen from the videos you can tell there's some kind of energy, maybe it is Eloy, maybe it is just the fact that their 25th is coming up. It's definitely a magic they have bottled up and I'm all for it. Eloy is a beast and have been following Sepultura for a very long time so when Slipknot said goodbye to Jay and then when Sepultura said they were hanging up their hats, i immediately got excited for the prospects of Eloy behind that kit, going as far as explaining to my little 10 year old metal head son about the whole situation and he was pumped. After seeing him beating on those things I can only say that it just feels right.
Regardless of the career Eloy had with Sepultura (which is retiring anyways) , what metal drummer in the world would reject the chance to drum with Slipknot ? Eloy got bills to pay and he is just the perfect fit for the band. He doesn’t only make Brazilians proud but South American drummers in general. He has the heat only we possess.
I'm with you Tank. I haven't been this hype on them in years. Watching clips from this show, the throwback masks, the jumpsuits, the power and groove in eloys drumming. I'm taken back to the Iowa days being a kid watching the Disaster pieces DVD. I'm so hype on slipknot right now.
Well put sir. Eloy is a beast!
I've been coming across a lot more non transferrable tix lately and I love it!
I was almost over them, but this news gives me chills like eyeless did the first time i heard it on late night radio 25 years ago!
The videos I've seen of the show. It's beast!!!! I thought they were done for. Glad it turned around.
I'll be seeing the at Rockville in a week and a half. And this made me even more excited about it.
I’m very excited. Slipknot goes in waves. How they feel, how they look, the songs they sing… I feel we have a very heavy album coming.
First thing: Can’t stand the whole “secretive” method Slipknot has done with new members this time around. Get over it fellas. Just let us know who they are, because it’s easy to figure out 🤣
Two: Eloy is a monster and I haven’t been able to stop watching his performances. He looks like a silverback gorilla back there crushing those tunes!!
Eloy is a freaking amazing Drummer for Slipknot!!! It really feels like we just time skipped in reverse to 1999!!!! 🤘🤘🤘
Leveled up by taking OC on tour with them. 🤩
I was at the small show in California at pappys. Only like 350 people were there. Only slipknot played shirts and hoodies were one offs. Well worth the $9
Fingers crossed for a good outcome. My headphones crave new Slipknot music.
Dude no way! I was just at Pappy and Harriet's a few months ago for some planning conferences. Bet a ton of Marines from 29 Palms got to see that awesome show. So awesome man.
Eloy is nuts. I watched one of the videos from their recent show of Disasterpiece and his fills were absolutely insane. He's very exciting.
Hope to see this at ROK, cant wait. Even more excited.
It's like Slipknot Rebirth. There something amazing happening with the energy and synergy in the band. It's like they found themselves as a collective for the first time in decades. It is just awesome to see and I'm all in for this new journey 🤟
I haven’t been this hyped for Slipknot in a while. Seeing footage of that first show took me right back to ‘99. Really can’t wait to see what the guys have planned.
100% agree on all you said!
Thank you for saying his name correctly!
A screenshot of a backstage video came out from the Pappy & Harriet’s show and Eloy had a metronome sitting on a stool behind him. This is the first time Slipknot have played with a metronome live
Oh wow, I haven't seen that yet.
@@TankTheTech From what I've heard jay not playing with a click had something to do with his firing. If you look jay always said slipknot would never play with a click. There's also tons of video of jay speeding up the songs. I think they picked an amazing drummer to replace jay as someone who really liked Jay.
Eloy is not playing live to a metronome and never was also during Sepultura times, I saw all live videos since he's in Slipknot and tempo slightly changes during songs..maybe he has click only for the beginning of the song. Also Corey stated in many interviews that slipknot will never ever play live to a metronome. He want to keep that human feel during live playing.
@@Stain_SVK You are wrong. There's an interview with Eloy in portuguese here on CZcams where he says that he uses the metronome all the time and that he's even got the timing wrong a few times.
yes, the metronome is from the brand 3L0Y. very good metronome.
I gotta say that the Eloy addition is huge...but one thing not only I couldn't ignore, but it actually caught all my attention at first was Corey's performance. His vocals in that small concert felt so fresh! I can't believe a man his age can still perform like that.
I've been a Maggot since 99. 11 year old me didn't know how to feel about my favorite band at that point in time... But they had my undivided attention. Fast forward 25 years, and I'm feeling those same feelings all over again. What a time to be a Slipknot fan.
I can't believe I've been listening to Self-Titled for 25yrs. Bringing out the 1999 jumpsuits and dreads mask etc was the best move given some of the drama lately. Excited to see what Eloy brings and if they bring back a more raw sound even
Saw them in Vegas and they still are awesome. More of a stripped back stage for the 25th anniversary and I honestly loved it.
Eloy is a rockstar, and as a Brazilian, I used to watch him on Sunday shows as a prodigious drummer kid. It's crazy where he is now!!!
I was at SICK NEW WORLD. And Slipknot had an amazing show. It was my first time watching them live, and it was a highlight of the whole day
I’m brazilian, and I remember seeing Eloy playing drumms in this brazilian tv show, when he was a teenager, just like me in that time. And at the same time I used to listen Slipknot all day long. It’s really great to see this and see how life can be unexpected. He is a great drummer and his type of playing matches to the band in another level.
Sure, I can dig Clown's Samba Circus :)
Seriously tho', first when Jay was kicked, I was down right angry. Maybe not because it happened, but how. In more of a hindsight, they could have done _way_ worse than picking up Eloy.
I like that they bring new people, yes I would love if joey were still here, r.i.p.
The one thing that people have to remember is that jay and v-man were not supposed to be full time members
The fact that a Tama kit was on a Slipknot stage should have told folks it was Eloy before they even walked out lol. Kind of excited to see what signature offerings they come out with for Eloy
I’m here for the ride. I’m happy Slipknot is on the road and touring. I might get a ticket now. Who ever the drummer is, if they are still having fun, then so am I.
Eloy must have been so stoked to be there
Cant wait to see them at Welcome to Rockville in less than 2 weeks! 🤘🤘🤘
Loved you slipping in a Sabaton song title there.

Correct, Corey Taylor previously said he’s only ever used floor monitors.
I didn’t notice that so good catch lol
My old band supported Sepultura in the UK years ago. Eloy was a beast. Slipknot are my favourite band, so Eloy joining them is an elite moment for me.
He timed his membership to the band as they'll celebrate the anniversary by going back to their roots.
Bloody roots!
Eloy from Brasil !!!! Hugs Tank
Fun. Its fun. You nail'd it.
