We hope you liked the video on the Gamo Coyote .22 caliber but now it’s time to put our .177 through some out-of-the-box testing. For fun, we’ll shoot some JSB pellets and some JSB Slugs to see which ammo gives us better results at 30 yards. And remember, this is RIGHT OUT OF THE BOX!

Always a pleasure to watch you Rick. Admire your approach to testing - 'straight outa the box'. I know a superbly skilled and knowledgeable gunsmith over here in Yorkshire, England who told me nearly all the remedial work he does on PCPs is on regulators - so he said like you, you don't need'em. You'll know the wise acronym - 'KISS - 'keep it simple stupid' - amen to that. (I think it's using handpumps, injecting humid air into the guts that's the root cause of the trouble, so a regulated gun, best keeping to air tanks, imho.

Excellent quality as always and very interesting for me as I am still interested in .177 and am pleased to see the results for slugs. Actually, I will probably never shoot slugs in .177 because where I use this caliber, I don't want much carry-through. Your testing them gives me information to add to opinion. Looking forward to watching the full review, but this looks a pretty nice gun.

Good to see the coyote whisper still on the market. I have mine in .177 and it loves 10.34s. And 7.9s. What people should know is that the rifleis I incredibly easy to adjust the hammer spring.
I have my C.W. set at sub 12fpe.
And it still out shoots my avenger.

Great video! I really like the .177 stuff. Please keep it coming.
Try some Hades in that bad boy.
My .177 Avenger likes a variety of slugs. It's not nearly as pretty as that Coyote, but I do have the Buckrail kit on it which is a major improvement over the factory plastic stock.
Keep up the great work Rick!
    Thanks for what you do!

Another great video from the EAR/AW/AWTV team!
I bet those heavy slugs need to go faster and if I'm right, after you finish your "out of the box" reviews, you should find, if you're interested in tuning for the slugs, that the adjustable hammer spring is only turned in about 8 1/2 of its 16 available turns, giving you an appreciable potential velocity increase. If you choose to do it at some point, I sure hope you post a video of it, since I have one of these and would love to find out that it's a viable long range slug gun! If you get some more calm days, maybe you could stretch this slug vs. pellet challenge out to 50-75 yards, since that is where one would expect the BC of the slugs to make a real difference.👍👍👍

I just bought the coyote and love the gun and placed the scope from my Gamo swarm magnum on it till I can find a scope for it, but this scope (BSA Outlook 3 - 9X40 mil dot) has one bad review after another on it, and they are mostly current reviews, it’s only $76.00 but think I best keep looking for a better scope. Thanks for a great review on the Gamo Coyote.

I know you have to say don’t replace the screw. But on the Urban it is absolutely mandatory! As with an aftermarket powder burner trigger, just be careful and if you take it down to no or very little creep just do an empty chamber bump and drop test. I’ve shot thousands without any issues.

    • @AirGunWeb
      @AirGunWeb  Před rokem +1

It’s a liability issue. If I say “replace the screw” and someone does and there’s an incident, they come after me. I’ve been an expert witness in such cases. All attorneys care about is getting a buck from any source.
It’s not “mandatory” on a $220 airguns. You may want it better, but it’s just fine, functional, and practical as it sits.

Just a figure of speech, ha ha. I understand liability. Sad times we live in. I wonder how Timney handles the liability issue. You can take their triggers to unsafe on several models. Take care.

hello rick nice the result with slugs ,,but a pellet is better in a low power gun,it expands better ,is less expensive . more avaiable ,and most more accurat . you can get a good result with slug a but the next batch maybe not .a pellet is more forgiving , a friend has a coyote .25 cal , full power ,only 25 shots or so from a 235 bar fill . it started shooting consistent after the huma reg fitted from shot 1

A gun that doesn't shoot well out of the box is a gun that somebody that likes to tinker wants. Like my FX M3. I went through trial and error to get that gun right, and I did. Now it's a laser. I even paid 250$ for it to be tuned when I got it. Let's just say that was a rip off. Either way I love the gun now.

@sosteve9113 Yeah, you can get water in your air tank from any fill source if you don't have a proper filter. I use an oiless air compressor with 3 filters. I get about 50-60 shots per fill with my M3 .22 cal 800 mm barrel and 700cc carbon tank at 88 fpe, shooting a 40 grain at 995 fps and a 35 grain at 1036 fps. With my 700 mm .25 barrel I shoot a 50 grain at 990 fps for 109 fpe, and I get about 40 shots with that.

The 8.5g HN snipers shoot amazingly well out of that gun out to about 70y. For a 500-600 dollar setup you can't complain with the consistency, power and accuracy... it does shoot a little hot out the box but that's easily mitigated.
