- We are a small soap making business based in East Sussex, UK. There are only two of us, Anne and Wayne, and we specialise in creating all natural, palm oil free, vegan and vegetarian, cold process soap bars.
We have come to CZcams to shows people how we make our soaps and to hopefully inspire other budding soap makers too, whether you are a beginner just looking to learn about soap making or someone who has been making soap for years!
In this video we will be making and colouring soap with completely natural ingredients. We will be using the cold process method and using a Tiger stripe swirl to create our design. The soap will then be topped with some Lime embeds that were created by Anne using cold process soap. Both the main soap and the embeds are naturally coloured using French green clay and spirulina powder.
The soap is inspired by the Mojito cocktail and so we are using a refreshing blend of Lime and Mint essential oils and topping off our design with some sea salt.
Our soaps are all palm oil free and this one is vegan friendly too.
The ingredients we used for this soap are as follows:
Water 220g
Sodium Hydroxide (Lye) 109g
Olive Oil 340g
Coconut Oil 184g
Shea Butter 75g
Cocoa Butter 36g
Castor Oil 57g
Sweet Almond Oil 99g
Spirulina Powder 2g
French Green Clay Clay 5g
Lime (Distiliied) Essential Oil 20ml
Peppermint Essential Oil 5ml

Lindo parabéns
Well, I made your Mojito soap and the recipe turned out great, except that (I'm a newbie) and due to the clay it began to set up rather quick so I really didn't get a nice drop effect like you have. My green is a little muddy and grayish looking and my main batter is not as white as yours, but it's soap, so I'm happy otherwise. Would share a pic here if I knew how, maybe it's not possible. Going to try it all over again with a lighter trace to see if I can get the drop effect and a brighter color with the clays. Glad I found your channel.
I am so glad that you tried our recipe and that it worked out well for you :-) I don't think it is possible to share images on here unfortunately (not that I know of anyway). Good luck with your future attempts :-)
Can you do a embred tutorial 😍 the top deco😍
Hi Jia,
We will try and get round to doing an embed tutorial in the new year. We are pretty busy at the moment with the pre-Christmas rush but hopefully in the quiet period of January - March we will be able to work on something like this :-)
Cómo deja reposar el jabón después de ponerlo en el molde y antrs de cortarlo?
We turn the soap out of the mould after 24 hours and we then cut it within a day or two.
@@TheSussexHandmadeSoapCompany , cubre el molde para dejarlos reposar?
Hi Anne love your videos and humour which is much needed at these times. Where do you get your soaping supplies? I cant find many here in the Uk - finding it really hard to source affordable olive oil and Shea. Like my recipe dont want to reformulate and start again - thank you in advance! :)
We find that The Soapery is great for most of our oils. They have affordable prices and fast, free UK shipping. For Olive Oil we just purchase from the supermarket as we find that this seems to be the cheapest way of sourcing it.
@@TheSussexHandmadeSoapCompany thank you loving your videos youre a natural
Lovely. Did your green color fade at all to a more brown color?
No, it did fade a little but just to a lighter green shade, no brown in sight :-)
how do you manage to get white without colorant, my soap is getting a creamy color
I can only put it down to the fact that we use a lot of light coloured oils. We use light Olive Oil, which I think contributes to the paler colour.
To make it dry you need to keep it in fridge for 24 hrs or outside is ok ?
We recommend keeping it out of the fridge as refrigerating will prevent the soap going through gel phase. This is fine if you don't want your soaps to gel, but with natural colourants we actually always recommend gelling them as it helps them to appear brighter and last longer. The soap will definitely harden up without going in the fridge :-)
Wonderful video. How long does the smell last in soap??
Hello, we tend to find that if left unwrapped the smell will fade slowly over time. Depending on what scent of essential oils we use, this can be anywhere from 3 - 6 months. Citrus oils generally fade the most quickly (by about 3 months of being unwrapped) whereas more spicy oils such as cinnamon leaf and ginger last a good 6 months unwrapped.
Love your video! I looked for this soap at your shop, but didn't see it. All sold out? will you have some more?
Thank you! This was just a test batch that we created and unfortunately as we haven't yet had it certified for sale, we aren't allowed to sell it yet. It is quite possible that we will be getting some of the most popular designs we create on here certified though and when that happens we will list them for sale on the website :-)
@@TheSussexHandmadeSoapCompany Ah I see ! I am looking forward to be able to buy Mojito Soap! Take care and stay safe! :)
Thank you and you too. We will let you know when these soaps are available to purchase :-)
how to make those lime strips?
have u used cold process for them?
Hello
Yes, they are made from cold process. We purchased the Citrus mold from Bramble Berry as this gives the perfect detail for creating the Citrus slices. To fill, we allowed our green soap to thicken until it was able to be piped. We then piped the segment edges and "rind" of the lime in green and then simply filled in the rest of the mold with the white soap and this is how they turned out :-)
