  • DESCRIPTION
    “Attention.
I’m sorry this had to happen but I am in bad need of money and couldn’t get it any other way. Don’t tell anyone or go to the police about this because I am watching you closely. I am scared stiff and will kill the baby at your first wrong move.
Just put $2000 in small bills in a brown envelope and place it next to the signpost at the corner of Albemarle Road and Park Avenue at exactly 10 o’clock tomorrow morning. If everything goes smooth I will bring the baby back and leave him on the same corner safe and happy at exactly 12 noon.
    No excuses, I can’t wait!
    Signed, Your babysitter.”

What is wrong with people?! I'm not even talking about the crime-ing. The people who use the opportunity to make & send hoax calls & letters! What is wrong with you people?? It's not funny & shows they have no heart or empathy for people going through the worst moments in their lives. Why aren't they punished severely to make clear that it won't be tolerated?

Just sad all around. If he'd gotten Peter back home alive, that whole sad ending would never have happened. Ugh.

My sincere sympathy is with the Weinberger and their son. Peter's brother was a true blessing to their parents...not a replacement.

The kidnapper killed that baby. He could have left that baby somewhere where it would be found instead of the woods.

I think he could have left the baby in his car trunk over night and the baby died that way. Or just left him alive till he died outside. There was no reason for it. There was that man that tried to buy the fake formula though. The news paper should be ashamed but I wonder if the baby was alive anyway after that first night. Also some police informant notified the press for money. It’s like he wasn’t going to get any money from it so why not just leave him out where he would get found.

This is so sad and infuriating. The guilt rests 95% on the greedy media. I think the man would gave gotten the money and brought the baby back. I do not believe he wanted to kill the poor baby to start with. He was trying to save his own kids and wife too. I wish he had found another way.😢RIP little one.

Both the cops and the media ended up causing the death of the baby...

How was it the police fault? It was entirely the media.

Such a sad and avoidable tragedy. Yes, kidnapping might have been a mistake, but leaving an infant to die in the bushes is unacceptable. Did the kidnapper in my opinion deserve a death sentence? No. Not even a life sentence. He wasn't a danger to society.
What the press did was criminal, in fact, it should have been criminally prosecuted

Yeah, cuz the egos of the pyggies is of upmost importance in a kidnap case. To hell with the kidnapped kid.
