Jazz family, to *create a vibe* is to create an atmosphere and energy - to change the frequency of a room on impact..
*Hands down, the vibraphone will ever be the epitome of coolness.*
Lionel, Milt, & Bobby were masters of that unmistakable sound & exponents of elegance.
*Joel Ross connects us to an ethereal space with each strike of his mallet* - we *“feel”* his vibes, verve, & a sublime expression of flow.
Last night, *Yasushi Nakamura & Kush Abadey* kept the rhythm section pulsing with a devastating groove.
- And if that ain’t a vibe, I don’t know what is…
*Emmet, you and the cats are the ambassadors of cool each & every week and we join you in honoring Mr. George Wein.*
The Newport Jazz Festival is synonymous with *history-making vibes.*
As a visionary, Wein forever changed how we imbibe this music. May his flame burn brightly as the *new generations transform the jazz landscape, with the blinding passion as those before them.*
This comment was way better than anything i could've written so I'm just gonna go ahead and give it my thumbs up of approval :) - watching a vibes player at work is so hypnotizing.
Thank you, Meira A.
Kelvin Grant (sound and recording), really showed his skills tonight, with a superb reproduction of the vibraphone.
I listen on headphones, and the whole stereo sound spectrum is filled with a clear and spacial "floating"sound.
Brilliant job Kelvin!
Yes, it is great, except the channels are backwards. When looking at the video the low end of the vibraphone is on the right and the high end is on the left. But in the headphones the audio image is switched, which is a bit disorienting for me. But A+ for effort though.
@@simonsays525 Hey, turn your phones around the opposite way, or just sit back and enjoy!

WOW!!! I can't express how great this music makes me fee! WHAT A GREAT GROUP OF TALENTED MUSICIANS! Your music has recreated the excitement that I felt, when I at the age of seventeen, sitting in a corner of the Halfnote, got to hear the likes of the John Coltrane Quartet with McCoy Tyner. Your music makes this old man feel young again and grateful to know that there are young talented musicians pushing this great genre of music forward!
Number 69 may very well be the best show I have seen on Emmet’s Place! The dynamics of each musician required each of them to bring their “A” game. Man, they did just that! Joel Ross is at the top of his instrument!
It suddenly occurred to me that the ethnicity of the entire world may have been present in this wonderful quartet....for all we know!!!! excellent.
One year later and I still find myself coming back to watch this video at least once a week. Superb playing! Instantly caught my attention right out of the gate with the cover of Equinox by Coltrane! My favorite Coltrane song covered by Emmet and friends? What could be better? Seriously, this is just amazing playing all around. The entire band is so incredibly tight, y'all absolutely crushed this!
me too...at least 1x/month!
Im late but that's EQUINOX on another planet.
When Joel is dancing is too fun to watch, the whole band is amazing! BIG PROPS to Kush Abadey!
Man... definitely in contention for my favorite session so far!
and still is in my top 5 Live from Emmet's
Kush ‘n Sush artfully swinging the rhythm. Thanks, fellas.
I love how this band dissects ‘Rhythm-a-Ning’. Truly wondrous.
A veritable tour de force - brilliance all round!
