Ken Hensley was so talented. This album is a real gem of an album. They were kind of a heavy prog type of band with really good vocals. Their first half dozen or so albums are the stuff of legends.
Was a teenager when this band was in their prime. This was our high school stoner band. Go to the lake(we had a small lake in the middle of our city) do mushrooms and party too Uriah Heep. Great fuckin band from rhe day. Thanks for the memories man. Peace and love from Ottawa Canada.
Uriah Heep’s “Lady In Black” is my favorite song by any artist. Every time I hear it, which has been several times a month for the last 30 years or so, I am more impressed with the song writing as well as the performance.
Think about how preposterous it is for him to say:
She asked me name my foe then
I said the need within some men
To fight and kill their brothers
Without thought of Love or God
-and to then say-
I begged her give me horses
To trample down my enemies
So eager was my passion to devour this waste of life
*** then YOU said, quite succinctly and brilliantly, “Oh, so he part of the bullshit too.” ***
As the story’s narrator, he then has to report back to us, the audience that she turned him down due, I am sure, to such a preposterous self-contradiction
But she would not think of battle
That reduces men to animals
So easy to begin and yet
Impossible to end
The music is great. The story is told with beautiful and unusual language construction -so complex and well crafted that it is difficult to remember the words entirely without the music. I know I could not sit down and write out the words perfectly without the music and background voices and I have heard it close to 1,000 times I would estimate.

I was watching your reaction to "Love Hurts", by Nazareth, and when you mentioned you enjoyed great vocals/lyrics, I instantly thought that I'd love to see your reaction to "Sympathy", by Uriah Heep. Naturally, I went to your channel and searched for 'Uriah Heep', and found this.
Oh, man! ... This is a rabbit hole that I think you will really enjoy exploring.
Maybe not right off the bat, but once you're familiar with them, you need to hear/experience, "The Magician's Birthday".
"Sweet Lorraine", is another good one. "Easy Livin' ", "Stealin'' ', and "Gypsy", would give you a cool mix to listen to. And then there's, "Rain", "July Morning", or "Come Away melinda", which are softer, but no less impactful.

Theres another mix of it (possibly the American release) where at the end during the chant the music fades out and its just vocals and then the music comes back in. It keeps it from being so tedious with the repetition. You might want to find that version for your playlist. Its pronounced You-Rye-uh Heep. Named after a character in the Dickens novel David Copperfield. The 2 American singles that still get some classic rock radio play are Easy Livin' (1972) and Stealin' (1973). Saw them many times in the early 70s. Thunderous.
My favorite is "Stealin" by Uriah Heep.
Got this in the 9th grade- the cover was red with a man with no skin… musculoskeletal I guess.
I really like the Look At Yourself album best I think -although Demons and Wizards was their biggest seller I believe.

I really like these "reaction videos". It's like someone unknowing gets introduced to a higher truth. And was it any better, when we first, consciously, listened to this song or another? I mean, with me, when was it, in the mid ninties? The song already was more than 20 years old.
It's the same with movies. When did YOU see Matrix or Fightclub, and when did the Millenials see them, if ever.
