- Here a short iPhone clip of my 1973 Maestro Blacktop EP-3 Echoplex Tape Delay that I posted on my Instagram ( / davidhislop . I picked it up a few months ago from an owner who had it sitting in his closet for decades. It's in excellent condition, was recently recapped, and it sounds so good - all the tape warble, wow & flutter vibes. I took this video when I was testing it after I cleaned the heads. I plan on doing a proper hi-fi mic'd up demo of this soon, but thought youtube land might enjoy a little preview!

This could quite possibly be the best delay sound I've ever heard.
This delay sound + your guitar + amp + playing style = Heaven
No reverb needed with that!! What a sound!!!
Also your my favorite guitarist. Thank you for all, you do (Love the We Praise You lead you wrote)
Your sound touch my heart! ❤😭🙌
We want more! Literally anything. Talk about cats with a guitar in the background
HAHAH deal 😂
There’s a reason old stuff sounds good!
Check into a Moog MF-104m Superdelay or a Binson Echorec if you can
Won’t regret it
Sounds so freaking good!
I could listen to that all day man. Lol, you going to pop that in the next service? If so I’ll buy your IEM mix bro.
🙌🏼 sounds amazing
That natural modulation wow
Sounds so good
That ac30 is heaven
Beautiful
That’s super beautiful
Sounds sick 🎸
Que bonito se escucha Bro, Nunca había visto uno de esos está genial!!
They are excellent! There are tons of guitar heroes have used them since the 70's (jimmy page, eric johnson, van halen, etc, etc)
Wonderful
Oh my. So lush.
Hey David, your Echoplex sounds phenomenal. I have a blacktop EP-3 as well. Do you happen to know what brand of tape you were using? Also, were you running into a Strymon Big Sky in this vid as well. Thanks.
Yeh...I think I have room for this on my pedal board... haha
Sounds amazing dude! Nothing like the real thing.
nice bro! i like! God Bless You
Miss mine.
Cool vid, made me smile.
Suppose theres no chance youd want to sell it to me...
Nope, sorry! I’ll probably hang onto it until I can’t play guitar. Lol. There are more out there though!
Cant say I blame you. Some things just taste right. Hope to see more vids like this
WOW!!
Definitely find a way to add this to your pedalboard
Hey David, who services your ep-3?
It has crystal clear echoes and seemingly zero noise. Very impressive.
Yo I have some questions which would you prefer more a morning glory or a super bolt on your board? I have a morning glory it sounds amazing but I want something a little dirtier do you think superbolt would be a good option. And deciding whether to get a strymon el cap or a timeline for delay which would you prefer?
Hi David! What are you playing here - any track name? Love it
Strymon Volante vs Ep-3?
Wow bro! this sound is incredible! What´s pick ups have your red veritas?
Thanks! I have Fralin’s in it.
@@DavidHislop thanks bro! Regards from Argentina!
What pickups are in the white strat
It’s a stock EJ strat from ‘07 or so.
Curious how you set your EQ on the Vox. Sounds great!
How is yours so hissless?????
It was serviced and recapped before so got it.
Hi I want to do something like you do when I am older in a travel worship band. Any tips on how to get there?
Hey Ean! There isn't a fast and easy answer for this, but if you do these things I have no doubt you will be successful:
1. Be excellent at your craft. Your gift will open doors for you.
2. Serve well and with excellence wherever you are planted.
3. If you don’t have paid gigs, work for free to build a portfolio of your work.
4. Relationships. The music industry is built on them. Make a point to be friendly and work well with people.
5. Be diverse (playing, production, tech, etc). Having multiple skills will take you a long way in music when it comes to making a living.
6. Let God do the rest!
@@DavidHislop Thank you so much man. Such a great inspiration. Take care!
