      +Rod Molyneux - simply put, Enjoy! We have not been to any other Iberostar Grand resorts - this one set the bar too high, but please reply with your experience regarding the comparison. We have been to this resort multiple times, and hope to get back there soon. Insider secrets: (that took us a few visits to figure out) - the spa is no charge (there is charge for massage) but the general spa facilities are free to those who stay at the Grand, check it out; ask and you shall receive - anything you need, simply ask your concierge/butler and they will have it for you in a timely fashion (as with most 5* resorts) but the service is exceptional; your concierge/butler will make your dining reservations for you - just tell them what you want to eat and when/where, and they will hook you up; venture off the beaten path - although Dunn's River Falls is nice, check out non-tourist places like the Blue Hole (google it - tour companies won't get you there but talk to a Star Friend and they'll let you know how to get you there/back safely). Again, Enjoy!

    • @Rodmoly
      @Rodmoly Před 8 lety +1

      +Stuart Kerr Thanks for the insider info Stuart, the resort looks very similar to Grand Paraiso, resort a little smaller though in Jamaica. The spa is free in Mexico too, just pay for treatments, it all looks vaguely familiar just with reggae instead of mariachi and rum instead of tequila. Interesting about Dunns river, would like to see it but know for sure its a tourist trap, which really is a turn off, will check out Blue Hole. Most probably won't leave resort much as this week is to unwind after a hectic week in New York. Thanks again!!!

      Angela Worlds ...you will not be disappointed. Still pictures do this resort no justice, and once you go, you'll know that videos don't either - it is that spectacular. We've been to this resort 3 times now, would have been 4 times, but we tried a "last minute" vacation in February of 2014 but the Iberostar Grand was booked, so we ended up trying the Royalton White Sands in Falmouth. The Royalton was nice with our (paid) room upgrade, but by no means is the Royalton "Grand"...lol. We will be going for our 4th visit to the "Grand" this coming winter. In the mean time, have fun at Iberostar Grand, and Happy Birthday.

    • @stuartkerr5894
      @stuartkerr5894  Před 7 lety +1

      I have never been to Couples, but I just returned (Labour Day Weekend) from my 4th visit to "The Grand". Not sure what your concerns are over swimming in the ocean? I snorkel off of the resort - there are 3 small reefs located just off shore of the Iberostar Suites (right next door to Iberostar Grand) where you can see a great selection of marine life. There are also excursions with Dressel Divers that can take you "out" to further reefs but I have not done this (no need in my mind with the close reefs). As for just swimming, I swim in the ocean at the Grand with no issues to date.
      Hope this helps.

    • @stuartkerr5894
      @stuartkerr5894  Před 4 lety

      The resort is a fair size. It is combined with the other 2 Iberostar properties, and you have access to them, but they do not have access to The Grand. There are vendors at the far side of the resort, behind the parasailing dock.
      We have stayed ocean front, pool side and ocean view- no complaints about any room or view, each has it's own pros and cons. It is nice staying ocean front though :-) and is our preference.

    Stuart we are trying to plan a week vacation to celebrate my 60th on January 3, 2017. Planning on booking this trip from December 31, 2016 through January 7, 2017. Looks very nice! I am looking at upgrading to an Oceanfront Suite. Is room choice/location that important?

    • @stuartkerr5894
      @stuartkerr5894  Před 7 lety

      I have stayed Ocean Front and Ocean View - both are very nice. I guess room location would depend on how much time you spend in the room? I personally do not spend that much time in the room (apart from sleeping) so over my visits, it does not matter to me. I prefer Ocean View myself, as once the sun goes down, you can't see the Ocean due to the darkness. My only suggestion would be to get a room on the highest floor you can - better view and you would not want a room over the buffet (noisy at times). Hope this helps.
      Have a great b-day celebration!

    • @stuartkerr5894
      @stuartkerr5894  Před 6 lety

      ...not to be a sarcastic SOB... but everything is included in this resort - EVERYTHING. From top notch drinks and food, to the spa (NOT massages, but use of the spa)... everything onsite is included. With that being said, on site excursions and activities, such as parasailing and massages... are not included and the typical prices of any resort. It is easy for me to say 'you get what you pay for', but until we discovered this resort - we did not know, once you go, you'll know. I hope this helps, you will not be disappointed.

    • @stuartkerr5894
      @stuartkerr5894  Před 8 lety

      +Sean Kim I did not play golf, but there are courses nearby... when I have been there, there have been guys/gals who come back to the resort mid/late afternoon with their clubs on their shoulders, but I am a hack at the game, and I don't think the courses would appreciate my divots...
      I would say that that is enough time for a quick getaway - but you would have to consider your flight time into your travel time, and judge yourself accordingly. Personally, from Toronto (for me) - I would consider even 3 days enough time to de-stress a little... enjoy your time...

    hi stuart! great video. we are thinking of going to the Grand in july, 2019, for a "family-moon." Me, my new husband and our three kids (ages 21, 22 and 23). Were there activities/entertainment at night such as a disco, beach party, casino, shops on site? Also, were the rooms clean? we went to the Dominican Republic this past January and had a very bad experience with a moldy room (my eye lids actually swelled shut -- sigh). Were there plenty of towels at the pool and beach? I've read mixed reviews about that. THANK YOU for any information you can provide. We have narrowed down our "family-moon" search to two resorts and the Iberostar Grand is so close to being our choice . . .

    • @stuartkerr5894
      @stuartkerr5894  Před 5 lety +1

      In the multiple times we have been to this resort, I have never experienced any issues with the resort. Our room has always been clean, the amenities were always well stocked, and the service was excellent. There is a small casino on site, nothing fancy - just a couple of slot machines (no table games), there is on-resort entertainment (disco next door, beach parties and "shows" that change nightly) and you have access to the same at the 3 Iberostar resorts on site as well. The shops on site are limited, and my suggestion would be to just wait until your departure for the airport to pick up any souvenirs, but in saying that, there is a small vendor market just off the resort to the East (by the parasailing dock). The spa is also available for use with your stay at "The Grand" - not including massage services. I do not think you will be disappointed, and we are also in the planning stages of our next visit. Once you go you'll know... hope this helps.
