About us,
We are a family from the North-East of England following our dream to restore a beautiful abandoned french Château. We discovered the heart stopping Château De Lalacelle in summer of 2020, this beautiful architectural monument Is set in the countryside of North-West France.
The moment we visited the Château we all fell in love, from the beautiful sweeping landscape and forests, to its stunning untouched interiors and magnificent spiral staircase in the turret.
Unfortunately Château De Lalacelle has been abandoned for a number of decades so will need a lot of restoration and DIY.

My mother was an interior designer who did a lot of upholstery and furniture repair for clients. I observed and even helped on occasions. Watching you save this lovely chair was like a walk down memory lane!

Terry, thank you so much for the upholstery tutorial, yes short and sweet, but a good start for encouraging me to tackle a hundred-year-old armchair with a horsehair cushion. If or when possible, it would be a joy to see more tutorials on upholstery. Just as Ash did while spray coating the hardware for the windows, all of you have practical experience and make for wonderful instructors. Best to all of you from sunny California.

Terry, the chair is stunning. Cinderella, herself, would be charmed. I left home at 15, had very little money, but even then wanted a beautiful home. Over the years, I taught myself to paint, wallpaper,lay flooring, etc. Out of necessity, I developed many skills that have served me well through life, as i suspect you have as well. Looking back, it was a blessing.
PS. I could watch a entire series of your upholstery endeavors and im sure many others agree.
Although the chair is gorgeous even more gorgeous is your cat. I have never seen a cat with colouration like that. So cuddly and affectionate too. You can tell a lot about people not only by the way they treat their pets but how their pets react with them.

The only thing about the colour accents is that when I think Marie Antoinette I visualise the blue you have chosen but with silver accents not gold...... but I guess you can't get silver leaf plating but you can get gold. Edit to add that yep the colours are great for the 400 suite. I thought it was the new room.

Terry is definitely very talented in interior design and restoration work. His vision and ability to bring back to life pieces that many others would have discarded as trash or irreparable are simply outstanding.
Sabrina and I absolutely love the show and project. She has her Morning Dance Studio and has refinished, repurposed and reupholstered many pieces. The first thing I thought when I saw the state of that chair at the beginning was that someone has a temper tantrum and took it out on the poor thing. You’ve done a great job restoring it and it will be a lovely addition to the 400 suite. I really wasn’t sure about the gold trim when you introduced it but of course you were right Terry. My dear mother had a beloved 150yr old chair that was brought to the US bay great aunt in
England. She had it recovered and restored. It had thin legs as was suitable for a lady. A dear friend of theirs who was 6’4” made a bee line for that chair whenever they visited for dinner. He was my father’s superior, thou not his boss, and he was older.
She never said a word, and the years passed. The delicate old chair holding that giant of a man. Close to 20 yrs later, when the man was in his retired in his late 60’s, yup it finally happened. ThankGod only his pride was injured.
She had the chair repaired and moved to her bedroom where she tossed clothes on it.
Now over 200yrs old. I have it and throw clothes on it in my bedroom.
Your bashed up chair made me think of this old family story.

Only you Terry could take crumpled chair and pull it back together. Give it the support, and the reupholstering with fabric detail, it needed to make it fit into that lovely room. Beautiful and you’re taking that sows ear and making it into a silk purse. ❤❤❤
