BTS is often the target of haters saying that they lip sync and don’t even sing or rap live. So in the last clip you saw, they performed “Mic Drop” and Suga stopped rapping during his part and smirked at the camera as it came by, proving that he wasn’t lip syncing as the music went on. 😎 a big 🖕🏻 to the haters basically 😂.

One of the things I really admire about Suga is that he talks about not having dreams. Everybody says to “shoot for the stars, achieve your dreams, don’t let anyone stop you,” and while that is important, it’s incredibly difficult to constantly be told to keep running forward when you don’t have a direction to begin with. It’s terrifying to not have a dream, and people who have them don’t really understand that.
As a younger person I take great comfort in being told by someone who’s seemingly achieved it all that it’s ok to be lost. Just be happy.

I suffered so much because I don't have a dream but then they sang to me, to us, that it's okay and that it's our life ans we just should be happy and satisfied with ourselves and it comforted me so much. I still have moments when I'm down because of this, but now I think about their words and I feel better. I love them so much.

Sure, a Grammy is a plus, it helps approve BTS' existence with professional music critics, but at the same time, this award is not completely necessary. However, BTS does really want a Grammy badly as additional validity to their reason for being a group. I can live with that, even though as a fan of them, again I do not care if they get a Grammy or not. What matters is that they saturate the world with their music far more & greater than any other musician in history, and so far they are doing that. But there is still a lot of people who don't know they exist or those who have heard of them but don't really care for their music. That's fine too.

  • @marar8045
    @marar8045 Před 4 lety +54

lol nobody outside of the US makes PBJ sandwiches.
Trainees don’t make much money, if any (that depends on the company and their contract). Usually their parents provide for them while they’re trainees, but since Yoongi’s parents were against him being an artist they didn’t support him during that time. I believe only his brother would help him from time to time. Trainees are usually forbidden from having part time jobs, because their time is already divided into studying and training. Training is their job. So it’s a big deal that he had part time jobs.
Also, one of these part time jobs caused him an injury that’s still affecting him to this day. He had an accident while he was delivering something. His shoulder was crushed under the car. However, since he was afraid he’d get kicked out of the company for saying he had a part time job, he didn’t tell anyone about it. Obviously, it became something he couldn’t hide and BangPD, the CEO of Big Hit told him he’d pay for Yoongi’s tuition so he didn’t have to work part time anymore. He also gave him time to heal. The man recognized talent and wasn’t about to lose it like that.
Before that Yoongi used to bboy. His injury affects his dancing sometimes which is sad, cuz he’s very skilled. He’s been trying so hard to become an even better dancer and vocalist lately too, he’s trying to become an even better artist.

You are filling in a lot of their story and life based on your interpretation of their quotes and that's great, but beware that you're not misinforming. Make sure to mention that it's what you think and not what BTS thinks. It's really cool how you're breaking down and researching BTS.
I just want to give some examples. None of the members of BTS have a mindset of "this is the beat I made so this is my music and im generously sharing that with you", that's your view on it but based on BTS's reflection of thought they've always put BTS first and ultimately made music for the group as a collective together with BigHit producers and all just do their best to deliver. There are projects they make personally like the mixtapes or songs but that's a whole other process, where the member has to fully bring that to life themselves without BigHit except if they ask fro guidance or decide to work with one of the producers. But then again, this is also based on my observations of BTS. What I just can tell you is that their mindset is no where near being selfish, anything they do they won't claim all credits to themselves. Except ofcourse since they're charismatic they boast funnily. Their attitude ofc changes within songs esp hiphop where they boast or call out haters.
Also, SUGA and also BTS never force their opinions on things like university or school or dreams. They express you can or you can't and it would both be okay, embracing that whatever path and feelings are good.
Lastly, there may be confusion as to how BTS has promoted and set their goals for western musicmarket. Up till I'd say 2017 there was no intention at all from BigHit or BTS to break into America. Their first Billboard Nomination in 2017 motivated that and got BTS and Bighit in awe of the popularity rising. This also became a big part of their strugfles, SUGA said that after their first AMA performance he cried in the shower because he had no idea how to further their carreer at this level. The pressure was immense as the first Korean artist stepping into a whole other industry in a country abroad with a language they didn't speak. That quote later in the video where SUGA said he wanted his music to play in the streets, reffered to just Korea. All they wanted at that time is average recognition in Korea. I think in Seoul city centres there is a lot more music played by either stores or there are loads of streetartists.
Sorry for the long comment, it got out of hand hahaha. I'm sorry as well for my English, I typed really fast and it's not my first language. Just wanted to let you know my review and ofc this is only based on my observations of BTS. Love the videos though, have fun becoming Army 💜

      Things like His struggles, etc...
Also I think some of the personality jokes here would have been taken better, that start when Suga said he produces so he produces better than the other members is definitely not His serious outlook on things, even though I would argue that He is the best producer regardless.

Just a few points. As far as ur reactions go, i really love how passionate you seem to be about trying to understand the things each member is trying to say, but sometimes I feel you cut the interview or song so short and go off on a view of what you heard which is actually different from the entire point once the interview is finished. an example is ur first pause where you kept saying he said he can produce better than the other boys and would push his songs into the group and than get praise. Suga and RM were the only original producers in the group, writing and producing for almost all there original albums by themselves, what he was saying is he was proving to the world he could produce music for the boys, not trying to prove to the boys he could produce. It's why the boys always praise his songs and love on his songs so much because they are so meaningful. They do it for RM also, always giving credit to each other. For MoTs7 it was the first time for a lot of members to fully write there entire song, or for Jimin to actually produce a beat by himself to be included in his song. In future interviews you will see the boys call songs like "J hope's song, or Suga's song, RM's song." I really hope you dont take this as a hate comment, i really do enjoy your reactions, just wanted you to slow down a bit before you pause. lol

For the job thing, he actually was working part time because he desperately needed the money. He was in high school during the day, working part time in the morning, producing at night. He lived in a one bedroom apartment with all the other members of BTS and the bus vs dinner thing was a real problem since, if he didn’t take the bus, the walk home would be hours long. He almost left BTS at one point because he simply could not afford to continue but Bighit got him back (I don’t remember how but I think they might’ve paid for his college or something?). Even growing up, he was poor which is why his parents were so against him taking such a massive risk that could potentially leave him in tremendous debt. They actually didn’t support his music for years (they only really supported him around 2015/2016 and there’s a video of him bowing to his parents and sobbing on stage at the first concert they went to). Most of this information comes from his song 724148 which is absolutely fantastic and something I completely recommend

Bts have a song called Hip Hop Phile where the rappers pay homage to all the hip hop artists that influenced them. J Cole is one of them, as well as many others you probably don't expect them to even know about. They also mention some of those artists' best works or important periods of their lives only a true fan would know about. Every hip hop fan i've seen react to that song clicked off with their minds blown at how much suga, rm and jhope actually know about the genre.
This song is definitely one of my main suggestions, as well as Born Singer which is a tribute to J Cole's Born Sinner.

you’ll hear these terms a lot in bts/kpop videos such as this one so just a heads up in case you don’t already know :)
Noona: what korean males call older females
Hyung: what korean males call older males
Unnie: what korean females call older females
Oppa: what korean females call older males
Koreans are big on showing respect to their elders, so they’ll often use these to address those older than them :) it’s called using honorifics.

You definitely hit the nail on the topic about mainstream music! Apparently, BTS is still somehow neglected in several radio stations and it's mostly about xenophobia. That's why the armys are proud that we're able to get "ON" into #4 on BB Hot 100 with little to no radio playlisting. You can't really get them airplays on most stations unless the artist did some payola - and that's sad.

Where RM and J-hope's lyrics sometimes need a well-read korean individual to explain what's going on, suga's lyrics are often much more in your face. However, you can't take them word for word, especially from translation. In a very early song he said he is better than you/those idol rappers who don't put in the work, or something of the sort and when confronted about it, even before he was confronted about it, in an album review he did for fans, he said it was a line meant to show his confidence, not to diss anyone in particular. "If someone gets pissed off hearing this, it's not my problem".
I would love it if you would give time to the rapline's mixtapes. They give you so much insight to their talents and personalities, if you sit down and listen to them as album listens, instead of picking singular songs from them. Especially in suga's case, he gives you the confident, proud side of himself, but also the vulnerable, scared side of himself, and the balance between the two is very beautiful in my opinion.
Speaking of balance, I would like it if you would watch some of his funny compilations on your own. The serious working side of suga is very nicely shown here, but again, it is only One side. His dry humour and quick wit are my favourite things about him. He can even give Jin the run for his money in dad jokes, and he pretends Jin's jokes don't make him laugh. Spoiler: They do. He loves them. A fun fact: he has never felt the need to raise his voice at anyone to get his point across. The only time you hear him yelling, is when someone is far away, or everyone is talking loud and he needs to be heard. He also has rubbish luck with his mic, whenever they record lives. His is usually the quietest.

We call Yoongi Minstradamus bc he literally predicts future hehe
and him saying that he produces music better than other members was more of a joke. sometimes he says completely opposity things like "i can produce a little"
'so far away' portrayed how people around you push to do basic stuff (like uni, job, marriage) saying that your dream is childish or impossible to achieve, push you to think that it's the only way you can succeed in life, but it's not true. the time you let yourself believe those words and follow what you're told to follow, you understand that you're loosing your time, you realise that you lost the meaning of life. all the hardships you face when you try to achieve you dream will pay off in the end. and in the end it will make your dream bloom even more beautiful.
it's also about what yoongi always says: "it's okay not to have a dream". not having a big dream/goal shouldn't stop you from dreaming. you should still live and be happy.

Yoongi will always hold a special place in my heart his song far away made me actually follow and accomplish mine. He’s a true genius in both the way of his art ( music ) but also a genius in the way he is human. He understands struggles and dark times he understands there’s different sides to every person along with a story and he’s aware of his short comings but doesn’t allow that drag him down instead he makes them stepping stones. He’s humble and kind he’s smart and genuine and above all he is aware how how human he is. Yoongi is a truly amazing individual just like the other members .
