Being that she is a African-American CRNA! rare and I love it. I can't wait and i'm so happy I found this channel this will get me through nursing school.
I believe, no matter your nationality or gender or etc... If you want something bad enough you will work and fight to achieve itâ€. I am happy you are a part of the Thrive CRNA family. I am actually West Indian from Trinidad and Tobago. Thanks for your comment. đ
As a society and a world in general we need to learn to ask people how he or she wishes to be identified and we need to stop the cycle of automatically assuming that we know someone's background based on the color of that persons skin.
Iâm glad to see but these days Iâve seen a lot of black crnaâs and I love it
She was quick to tell you she ain't african american. Immigrant hate.
Wow
Inspiring!!!
Currently an ICU nurse starting the CRNA application process! Please pray!
how did it go? did you decide to do NP instead? please share your experience! thank you!

Iâve always wanted to become a Anesthesiologist but I want to start my career kinda early so Iâve decided to become a nurse anesthetist and I think itâs the best decision I made as a 14 year old. I want to prepare and know what I want to do for my future.
This is the realization iâm making, iâm going to college next year and this will definitely cause me to change my major
I always thought being a crna would be cool, nice video
Man this is so inspiring. I have to be a CRNA, this is something I am definitely interested in doing as a living. Keep up the good work!
Iâm currently in nursing school at LIU Brooklyn and your videos are so inspiring. Continue thriving!
Iâm glad I found this video. Iâm a cosmetic chemist and now Iâm going back to school to become a CRNA.
Howâs being a cosmetic chemist? Iâve been interested in that career option as well.
I would love to be a CRNA as well that's my goal. I just started my nursing school 2 weeks ago. I love OR you get to see the best and worst scenario. I am 20 I will graduate next year as a Nurseđ€.

Iâm looking to do a career change, this looks awesome! Thank you for putting out this valuable information and being transparent!
How is the career change going?
Thank you so much for this! Definitely needed. â€ïž
Thanks for the video! Iâm on my first year on BSN and this is exactly my goal
Same here! I will be starting this fall for my BSN
This video relieved some questions I had! I currently am completing my BSN and decided to pursue CRNA!
Love this video Iâm currently in college pursing a BSN I plan on becoming a CRNA
Can you talk about your schooling? Like how long did you take you, any failures (for motivation), things like that
Here is a video that answers your question: czcams.com/video/kC_sNPBr5Ws/video.html
Just graduated Nursing school! Love your channel đ very informative.
Wow! You seem so pleasant! Iâm LVN working on my BSN and I work in eye surgery doing pre/post op. Most of the CRNAs we have are very rude and degrading so itâs nice to watch your videos and seeing someone who is so nice.
Thanks for your kind words. Happy to hear your working on your BSN. No matter where you work, there will be good and bad apples. I would recommend shadowing a CRNA at another facility to give you a different perspective of CRNA practice.
Great video! Youâre inspiring! â€ïž
Happy this video popped up in my suggestions. Now I am considering this path. Thank you!
Your babies are just too cute, btw. â€ïž
Youâre welcome đ and thank you.
Thank you for making this video!

Thank you for this info!
Glad it was helpful!
I cannot wait. Iâm completing my application now
How's it working out for you?
I cannot wait for my new career!
What opportunities do CRNAs have outside of the OR? I just started in the ICU and like it a lot, so I don't know if I want to stop working in an ICU setting to switch to an OR setting which I do not enjoy as much. I like the flow of the ICU, the variety, the patient interaction, and being able to help out my coworkers elsewhere on the floor, as well as the visits from other members of the interdisciplinary teams to the floor when they do patient consults.
Great question. I truly enjoyed the skill set I developed in the ICU setting as well as developing close relationships with my coworkers and my patients families. Here is a video that might be able to help you with your decision, thanks for watching: czcams.com/video/dbfvwVwhkjw/video.html
Thank you so much for your informative video!! Have you ever been there when someone went through malignant hyperthermia during surgery?
Thanks for your comment. I have not experienced MH during surgery.
Thanks for this video
Her voice đ„°
Iâm currently a peds ER RN. Really interested in the CRNA route after my first year at bedside! Love the videos
That is awesome. How are you enjoying the pediatric ER?
Thrive CRNA been an awesome place as a new grad. I feel like Iâve gotten good at a little bit of everything (Ivs, NG, OG, central lines) skill wise. Iâm just ready to move up in the nursing ladder and get away from standard bedside. CRNA has always interested me Iâm doing research before I apply at the end of the year (Iâll have 2 years of crit care exp by then as well)
Do you have experience in the ICU?
Love you channel.
Great job
Just found you!! Love you already!! đđ€
Thanks for your comment. We found each other and thanks for joining the Thrive CRNA family. đ€©
there how difficult this job is so simple turkey. After graduating from high school, you can study in an anesthesia program for 2 years and start working. I started working at the age of 19. but it was more practical than theoretical lessons. We worked in the operating room for 8 hours every day during the internship.
I know you canât record your patients. But is it possible that maybe we can get a vlog of you doing the things you mentioned in the video?Or maybe a talk between you and your colleagues who are Crnas as well?
I will try to see if I can do that type of video in the future. Thanks for your suggestion.
Thank you I look forward to it. Iâm taking the first steps now and applying to accelerated bsn programs so I have a way to go. But these videos are very insightful so thank you again.
I always seeing myself becoming an nurse i love helping others.. how long did it take for you to become an CRNA
Wow! You worked in the came hospital as me! CMC!
I loved you video! Also are you able to take vacations as a CRNA?
Yes of course. It is your choice. I currently have 6 weeks per year. If you are a 1099 or locum, it is flexible.
How hard is it to find a job that you want after graduation? More specifically, how hard it is to find a place that you can work 7am-3 everyday and have a relatively normal work schedule (for a medical field job) since that is what I would eventually prefer but it is hard to find information on that. Also, if you have that shift structure, do you generally get paid less? Awesome vids and theyâre super helpful but it seems to be hard to find info on this anywhere I look.
It is not hard to find a job or 7-3shift as a CRNA. It depends on the location and facility. You can check out gasworks.com and indeed.com for jobs.
Thrive CRNA thank you!
Thanks for this informative video
I real quick look up to you
I'm RN CCN BSCM how can achieve CRNA
Do you have to do calculations in your head on the fly without a calculator? Iâd love to become a CRNA, but I hear that schooling is extremely hard.
You can use a calculator if you need to.
Hello, I am 33years old. Iâm thinking of starting my BSN next year. My goal is to be a CRNA. Sometimes, I have doubts because of my age and I feel itâs too late. I would love for you to share your insight
Iâm an ICU nurse, & a mother of five. Iâm interested in CRNA but am wondering if CRNA career is mom doable?
How do you know how much anesthesia to use/put in the person?
Do you have to do any calculations prior or you're told how much anesthesia to use/ to wake them up?
Also, how do you know what medications to bring out? Does someone tell you or do you learn it in school?
CRNA school and clinical practice
I am very interested in becoming a CRNA. I love plastic surgery as well. Is there any way that CRNA has a certain type of speciality that they undergo
When you become a CRNA, you can go into any specialty area. There are many options and areas in anesthesia practice.
I need one more year and I will get into the nursing program and this video helped a lot thank u so much but do u go to work everyday or 5 days a week as full time?
At my facility, we have a variety of shifts. You can work five 8 hour shifts, four 10 hour a shift, OB 24 hour shift with two 8 or 10 hour shifts. It also rotates depends on the week or month.
Do crnaâs take exams every year for recertification??
How long did it take you to learn your routine and once you start a case are you there from beginning to end or do you go on to the next case
In CRNA school, you will learn your routine depending on case. Thus, when you are practicing anesthesia on your own. You will be confident in your skill set.
I really wanna become a CRNA but I can't find any information on international students and equivalent qualifications needed :(
I totally understand. I would recommend reaching out to a CRNA school you are interested to ask international related questions and requirements as well as contacting aana.com and NBCRNA website.
I want to pursue a careering crna but Iâm scared it might be too hard for me. What is the difference between crna and nursing school?
Here is a video that can help you with that specific question: czcams.com/video/mmzzkpY6QDc/video.html I have a bunch of playlists that can guide you to helping you decide if this is a career for you as well as motivation and personal development techniques.
Does ICU experience from a level I âUniversityâ hospital look better than ICU experience from another Level I, non university hospital? I have 2 interviews coming up and trying to find the best option.
It depends on your experience in the ICU. It looks good to work at a teaching hospitals. However, if your work at a small hospital with the mindset to challenge yourself and obtain a wide range of ICU experience.
If I did want to specialize, will I be exposed to different specialities in CRNA school ?
When you are in CRNA school, you will be exposed to a variety of anesthesia specialities.
Iâm 16 and Iâm stuck between pediatric nursing and crna...is college work harder for crnaâs?
I would recommend shadowing a CRNA and a pediatric NP. It will help you figure out which one your interested in.
I'm in my first year of nursing school studying to become a RN and I want to be a CRNA or a NICU Nurse. What should I do after I graduate with my BSN to purse those? Should I do extra studies in school even after graduating with my RN license?
If you want to become a CRNA, you will have to go into ICU for a minimum of 1 year.
@@ThriveCRNA thank you so much for responding! I appreciate it and thank you. As soon as I graduate I will try to work in the ICU then do CRNA. Be safe â€â€â€
How do you have time for your own family your kids your husband ?
How long did you work as an RN before applying to CRNA school? Did your chosen school have a requirement on how much experience you had to have?
I worked in the ICU for about 5 years. I wanted to be an NP and was in school. Then, I decided to become a CRNA. There was a minimum of 1 year of experience required.
I'm praying my dreams comes true â€ïž I really have the passion for this career. God help me đ
I want to become a CRNA so badly and Iâm only 13 years old
Thats awesome. You are at a perfect age to strive to be your best and work towards being a CRNA.
Do you work sitting or standing?
Hey mam, i am Indian nurse by profession honestly i want to be CRNA need a proper guidance can somebody help me
As a BSN student in Canada, how hard would it be to apply to CRNA school in the US?
P.S Love your videos! You've inspired me tremendously
Being a BSN RN, I believe you will not have a problem with getting a ICU nursing position and hopefully if you work hard. You will become a CRNA with diligence.
Would be nice to get vlogs for such videos
It would be nice for a future video, but HIPAA and hospital policy doesn't allow me at this time. Thanks for your comment.
Thrive CRNA I get that I just meant for parts like the morning routine, breaks, coming back from work such parts then the hospital part you could do the pictures thing you've done but either way thanks
Thanks, that is a great suggestion. In the future, I will consider doing that. Thanks again.
Iâm going to nursing school this year and I strongly want to pursue becoming a CRNA. Iâve done some research and I keep running into DNP vs DNAP. Iâm very confused about which one of these degrees to pursue in order to practice as a CRNA with no limits in the profession. Is it possible to become a CRNA with either one of these degrees. Can you clear up the confusion for me please â€ïž Love your channel. Itâs not only helpful with information about the career but Iâve kinda began looking to you as a role model because of your professionalism, knowledge and transparency. Please keep up the good work. Thanks
Thank you for your comment and kind works. I recommend that you watch this video to help answer your question: czcams.com/video/rVHZP0TDen4/video.html
Thrive CRNA â€ïž thank you so much for replying. I watched the video and it doesnât really resolve my question as to if either degree (DNP or DNAP) allows an individual to work as a CRNA. I think Iâll just do a little more research. Then again, maybe my question just doesnât make sense because of my confusion. Lol Thanks again.
@@jasmineburgess9029 CRNA: DNP vs DNAP: They are essentially the same thing in regards to advanced practice nursing degree. The main difference is research based vs clinical practice based degrees. It depends on your personal preference. They will both lead you to become a CRNA.
how long did it take you to become a crna? I'm an Lpn right now and I want to further my education. I've always waned to become a crna but was worried about how long it would take. I'm almost 30 with kids and I don't want to spend every waking moment either in school or at work
Check out this video, it will answer your question. czcams.com/video/kC_sNPBr5Ws/video.html
Thrive CRNA thank you!
My question is are Anesthetist Assistance able to become a DPN, if so how would a person go a about doing that?
Thanks for your comment. My specialty is Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist. I do not know about anesthesia assistant.
Hi Iâm 15 years old and I have decided that I want to be CRNA. In my school there is a cna(nursing assistant) , cma (medical assisting), and emt program and I choose the cma program. However I am wondering if I should have choose the CNA one instead or does it not matter? There are benefits with any one I choose.
Thanks for your comment. Either one should be good. Getting experience in the Healthcare field is good.
@@ThriveCRNA thanks for responding
What were your high school stats and did u go to a big college or small
In high school, I had average grades. When I was in college, I had good grades and retook classes to improve my grades. Here is a video that can help your answers. czcams.com/video/kC_sNPBr5Ws/video.html
I'm a nursing student in Sri Lanka.I like to be a CRNA.But unfortunately no CRNA schools in our country. If I will come to USA, Can I become a CRNA? Please tell me.
I would recommend contacting the NBCRNA and AANA on specific requirements for an international Registered Nurse. I recommend checking out these video: czcams.com/video/_fiq8mtWGiQ/video.html czcams.com/video/TNLBV8e6Ptk/video.html
Do anesthesiologists have different responsibilities than CRNAs???
It depends on the hospital. We can do the same job. However, CRNA's are advanced practice registered nurses and anesthesiologist are medical doctors.
Hospice nurse 1.5 years..interested in changing things up..
Are you there the entire time the person is under surgery because Iâm love the idea of being an crna but idk if I can watch the actual surgery
Yes, you are in the OR the entire time. You will have to be comfortable with watching surgeries.
Thrive CRNA okay thank you!!!!
Id like to know if you're doing 8 hour cases if you have to stand? How long do you normally stand for?
Good question. Every OR, you will definitely have a chair to sit. You are allowed to sit or stand. I usually sit for long cases as long as my patient is stable. Thanks for your comment.
@@ThriveCRNA Thanks much for the reply. I was worried you were expected to stand 8 hours
I am 28 right now and it will take me 8 years to do CRNA school. What do you think about going back to school this late in life-- I'll be 36 by the time I begin work. Also how do you think this work affects people with families?
If you want to pursue a career as a CRNA, nothing should stop you, especially age. Dreams require sacificing. Here is a few videos that will help answer your questions: czcams.com/video/2ZzpumExV18/video.html , czcams.com/video/ZbQENsu2OAk/video.html , czcams.com/video/R0r4DGknNZk/video.html
Iâm in the same boat. We can do it!
Thank you!
@@snowmob101 I agree.
In 8 years you will be 36 by the time you graduate and start work. In 8 years you will still be 36 with or without schooling.... So why not be 36 with the job you truly want??
doesnt a crna go throug like 11 years of college and nursing school? i want to be a crna but i just dont know if all the school is worth it and i heard it is very competitive.
Check out this video: How Long to Become a CRNA: czcams.com/video/kC_sNPBr5Ws/video.html
Hi, I am a high school graduate researching majors. I have a couple questions, 1) Can you start as a crna and work your way up to become an anesthesiologist (even with some study?) 2) Is CRNA school different from medical school?
Yes đ

Plz suggest me a good college to pursue my nurse anesthesia course & fee structure.... Suggest me good country....
Thanks for sharing your story. I went to SUNY Downstate in Brooklyn NY. I would highly recommend my school, however, the CRNA program is not active at this time. I would recommend researching areas and CRNA programs your are interested in. It will depend on the type of program size, state, etc...I hope this helps.
hello đ
I have a question about crna
can you still be a nurse practioner as well
Thanks for your comment. CRNA and NP are different APRN careers which require different programs in school and board exams in order to practice.
@@ThriveCRNA okay I'm starting to understand now thank you for helping me!!
How long did it take you to become a CRNA
Here is a video that answers your question. Thanks for watching czcams.com/video/TNLBV8e6Ptk/video.html
Is crna program available in Canada
There isn't a CRNA program in Canada. Canada has anesthesia assistant programs.
Hello! I see your kids in what seems like the hospital. Do you take your kids to work often or were they just visiting?
They were visiting me during my break.
Thrive CRNA thanks for responding! Do you have a video on your crna journey? Were you already a crna before kids? I want to be a crna but I donât know if it can be attainable as I have a kid.

Hello @Thrive CRNA, I am currently trying to apply for pharmacy school and work as a pharmacy technician however I am conflicted with being a CRNA vs pharmacy; one of the reasons I am considering CRNA is the challenge it brings about with various in comparison to being a pharmacist? Also, the job outlook for pharmacists is very low; I am scared of graduating and being in debt with a low salary to pay off my loan. what will be your advice and suggestion
I would recommend shadowing a CRNA and a pharmacist. Follow your heart â€
