- Come see a day in the life of a CRNA! I will show you what it’s like to give anesthesia to patients for surgery everyday. Every day is different but hopefully I can give you an idea of what it’s like getting anesthesia.
I work at a community Hosptial in small town Indiana. I love my job so much and look forward to what each day has in store! Anesthesia is such an amazing part of surgery. There are so many different types - general, regional, spinal, epidural, Mac. All have their place.
Please comment and ask any questions! I love anesthesia so much and I want to help others know what to expect when they or a loved one needs to get anesthesia for a procedure.

how long did it take you become a CRNA? And was the overall hard?
@@mslittlexmiss6899 for me it took a little over two years. Yes, anesthesia school is definitely hard, but considering what we do and everything we need to know, it should be. The biggest challenge is balancing your time between class, studying and family. It is a huge sacrifice but well worth it in the end.

Hi! Thank you for this video. I’m a retired CRNA. I practiced in a small community hospital for 26 years and our day to day experiences appear to be quite similar. I’ve been retired for 10 years and I was beginning to forget what my life was like for all those years. Your video reminded me and brought back so many fond memories. Thanks again 😊

I think an important aspect of medicine is knowing your nurse anesthetist or anesthesiologist is confident in their knowledge and skill. With any surgery I’ve had, the anesthesia workers on my case were so open and glad to share their confidence and THAT is what put me to ease during my surgeries. You all are often in the background but you are so incredibly appreciated. Your confidence and love for your job goes miles. We thank you!
That’s why mid level encroachment is such a big issue since nurses don’t go to medical school or do a residency in anesthesiology
The emergency c section story made me really emotional because I went through the very same thing & I really appreciated the whole medical team for saving my baby & I!!! My birth story is my driving force in my nursing journey. Thank you 🙏🏾
As a neonatal transport nurse of 30+ years I can tell you that anesthesia is confounding to most and requires a truly superior intellect to master. Much respect to you girl!
This is my dream Job, just finished my Certificate in Nursing , looking forward to upgrading to RN then Anesthesia school, long way but I truly know it's going to be worth it.thank you for inspiring us, to keep our heads up high and only hope for the best.

I love your attitude! This is how everyone should be , but I know it doesn’t always work out. I’m glad you love your job. I’m sure it comes across to your patients and as a patient who has had several surgeries, it helps when someone is confident and knows what they’re doing, but is still approachable and funny. I’m a bundle of nerves the morning of and that really helps calm me down. I wish I could have you in all my surgeries! I hope you have a blessed day!🤗

I have had 3 sections, I was blessed to have had MS Epi's. I worked in L&D for 16 years and I always felt sorry for the ER sections who woke up in such pain. I admire your care for your patients and helping that mom by giving her that nerve block.
I’m an addict and alcoholic. At the end of my use it was all about Opioids. I’ve been sober for 14 years. Not gonna lie, this is the yummiest channel I’ve ever watched. Watching you draw that up makes me want to break my arm!!!! I won’t. But Damn!!

Very interesting! I’m always a special case when I have to go under because I was diagnosed with malignant hyperthermia when I was a child. Anesthesiologists are always very on top of it. I’m going to nursing school now too, medical field is my jam too! Great video :)

I’m a NP who had to leave for medical reasons. I laughed when u were in endoscopy because I’m in there every few months having my GJ replaced. But I can’t have propofol due to severe reactions. I’m allergic to eggs. They usually use ketamine or go general. My central line has been awesome for 9 months. It was really neat hearing how much u love what u do.

Thank you for this video it’s very informative. Im a new Grad RN and this was very eye opening to what CRNAs do. Please keep making videos like this and would loveee if you can do a Q&A video on CRNA. The cost of schooling , are you able to work while going to school for CRNA things like that. You seem to really love what you do and that’s why I want in life not dreading to come to work everyday lol .
As a senior ICU nurse I totally agree! Always be prepared for the unexpected! Know that your equipment is nearby and working and ready to roll! Multitasking and awareness of preemptively approaching your care. 😀👌

GOD BLESS YOU ,i had TKR AND mine was the best he explained what was going to happen and sat with me for a few minutes made me feel real comfortable . He was there when i woke up could not ask for a better one .

How was the transition from CRNA to med school? Did you take pre med classes while being a CRNA? I’m very interested in doing this type of career path of being a CRNA first then maybe go to become an Anesthesist
@@rachelhernandez6896 It was a great but also a hard change. I don't know the US concept but here in Germany the first two years of med school are all about nature science and medical basics, like anatomy, bio chemistry, physics, physiology, etc. But as a former CRNA I exectly know what I'm doing it for and that the pressure and stress are worth it! In my holidays I'm doing internships in anesthesia, critical care and ED and it's a great feeling to bring both studies and job expertise together like a puzzle I was working on for years. So I can just recommend you to follow your dreams and to look straight forward to become an anesthesist 😃👌
@@jeantres-monia6410 so did you have to go back and do extra schooling for the med school pre-requisites? Or when/how did you incorporate the courses into your CRNA life?
@@rachelhernandez6896 I got my A-Level (Abitur) in 2015 after 12yrs of school. That´s the necassary condition to go to university in GER, but the grades must be 1,0 in total to visit med school (called "Nummerus clausus"). I did a 1,8 so that I needed a gap filler until I got a spot at med school. I decided to do the EMT qualification and later the CRNA (3 yrs of job school here) and worked as one for another 2,5 yrs. I loved both EMT and CRNA job that much that I was not even sure anymore whethter I want to apply again or not. But when I applied again for medschool after all of these stopovers in 2020, I finally got my spot at medschool and started it in Oct 2020. Med school definetly is a full time job so that I can´t work as a CRNA at the moment (so sad!!). I have a minijob for students in an Anesthesia simulation & training centre and I also work as a volunteer EMT irregulary (as it fits to my timetable). How long into being an SRNA or CRNA did you feel 100% confident in your skill set and prepared for any emergency situation that could arise during a procedure? I struggle with confidence and one thing holding me back from going back to school is being afraid with having such a big responsibility.
I get colonoscopies every 2 or 3 years or so and sometimes endoscopies with them and I’m so grateful for you guys!!

@@melmar2515 I am in Cleveland area and the clinic hires new grads and trains them in a 1 year residency program on all units. I don’t have my nclex done yet either but I applied and they hired me on the spot. Good luck to you!!

It’s a challenging job, but don’t confuse CNRAs with anesthesiologists, who are physicians with *much* more challenging (and lengthier) training, much longer shifts, and the most complicated cases.

I’m gonna echo the commentor who said they had trouble hearing the audio, no pun intended 🤪 I was wondering though - how risky are Bier Blocks? I’m assuming the lido is IV for injection as local anesthetic introduced into circulation can be deadly right? Or does the tourniquet change that?

Love this.. Is my goal after I graduate nursing school in a few months! Question for you though, do you have a anesthesiologist overlooking you? I know it can vary by hospital and area, but for the most part are you alone doing anesthesia with your patients or how does that work with anesthesiologists?
I’m a retired RN. I worked in labor and delivery for about 2 years and the newborn nursery for over 20 years. I sure do miss working. I love watching these kind of videos but then I get kind of sad that my time is up.

I’m so incredibly new to this. I’m a 15 year certified medical coder and just recently accepted into the surgical tech program so I’m excited to get that under my belt and get into the OR but my overall goal is to become a CRNA. My daughter is just shy of 3 years going into her healthcare career so we will be going to school at the same time. She wants to become a NP. Here’s to becoming a CRNA within the next 10 years 🎉 😅

At the age of 40 (2020) I left one of Detroit's tops hospital after working as an MA for 20 years.
I gave up and lost my purpose.😥

Being an MA for 20 years was a purpose, I was an MA for a couple of years prior to becoming a registered nurse, being an MA previously definitely helped me with nursing school

I had a very quick emergency c-section. My baby crashed and I crashed.
My baby was face up and when I had a contraction her face pushed against my stomach and she stopped breathing. I started hemorrhaging. I have Lupus and that caused some issues but everything turned out OK!!

Hello From Indiana. New Subscriber here. I've had a ton of different surgical procedures.. 23 to be exact.. But all of my anesthesia results haven't always been the Best experience for me unfortunately.. I would've Loved to had a loving caring Nurse like you each time.. Not all of my surgeries we're a negative experience. Only 4 or 5 times. I've woke up while being operated on . that's a scary feeling. Because i could hear everything the Dr. And Nurses we're saying at the time. Its not a pleasant experience. But i found this video so informative.. Thanks for sharing.. I like that you are continuing your education but please go to get your RN. I completed a 4 year course in 2 years 8.months. My grades were top of the class and you can do it. Same classes same things and a lot m9re money for your risk

I don’t necessarily have ICU experience, but I have 3 years of ED experience in a major trauma center, and 3 years of flight experience. Do you think that would count as ICU experience?
