I love the burn out ending
loved the series, plan on building it in the next few weeks after graduation before the 4th of july. what sold me was your daughter at the end of the video, I have a 1 year old myself. thanks for putting all this together.
+Sean Campbell no problem Sean. It's a great feeling building something with your own hands and seeing your kids enjoy it.
I want to Thank you for such Great Videos this is the first Channel I found that Shows how to Properly Build a Go Kart Thanks I will Countinue To watch you Videos
Just finished mine. Thanks brother.
my son asked me the other day if we could build a gokart...I weld to. so I found your channel and just went straight through all the gokart build video. man so cool. love how you changed up the mig, stick, and tig welding. thanks for all the time you put into this!
Sweet! I also have a live axle version but no videos on that. It’s a fun project.
The best go kart building serie on CZcams !!!
great series...you put a lot of time into it.
thanks, appreciate the kind words
this is nice keep up the good work
Great job
awesome kit 🤠👍
Please do a video with detailed steps on how you painted the wheels. Those look great!
+Ronald Clark oh like this one? czcams.com/video/8yt1xRiP8Vs/video.html
I like this video.i will countinue to watch videos you..thank you verry much!
I would add a front bumper for a little bump racing.
I have done it its really simpel. Use a gokart tirod system in the front and you can use a predetor engine that Idea is pretty DIY but the front wheels needs to be far apart inte front or it will tip in a turn and make it 2 seat
It's a good job ! I have a question about the break, is there a break shoe ?
very cool!
why not utilize live axle instead? better traction!
+relientker yeah, this is just the basic one. I already have plans released of a live axle kart kartfab.com/live-axle-go-kart-plans . I'll probably show video of that (live axle build) later this year.
+KartFab when will be video abotu go kart with live axle?
awesome series, are you gonna do another one now on the live axle go kart?
+Stratton Foster Yeah. But it will just be one video
And is it possible to make it two rear tire spin instead of one and I need a sport style go kart is that possible or not
I built this car with my son following the free plans you provide and it was such a great experience. Thanks for posting all these videos!
One problem I have is the hand tightend nut that holds the wheels on the axles keeps loosening when he drives it. I can't tighten it with a wrench cause it compresses the bearing and the wheel won't spin. Any suggestions?
Use blue loctite on threads and do not overtighten. You want the nut to be “barely touching”
@@KartFab thanks. Almost done painting the car. Do you have an email? I'll send you a photo of it when it's all done. Thanks again👊
Use Nylon locking nuts or double nut it, Nylon locking nuts better or use Blue lock tight thread locker.
for the go-kart build a roll cage for it or I challenge you to a duel engine that would be so cool to see a video how to make a go kart that has two engines on the back please show that one and thank you for the free plans step-by-step I'd appreciate it
nice job
Great Job.
Anyone with Questions, just go out and buy one !!!!!!!
All parts kit and go kart is very good but one problem
Reverse gear is not shift
very cool !😂🙍😍💙
can u install a reverse and forward swich and if yes, how?
cool
Cool
Nice 😁👌
🤙
Can you fit racing tires instead of the off-road style looking tire you got or is that essential to the design?
you can do racing and live axle with the dexlue live axle kit i have at kartfab.com/live-axle-go-kart-plans
would you ever make a go kart with a hand brake and also foot brake would be really fun I have one but the brake is metal on the tire so runs out fast but make one with brake caliper and disk or drum please respond if you know what I mean :)
You should make a live axel go kart build
can you list the parts needed to make the drive wheel?
When are you starting your new project
Hi Kart Fab Guy. Just curious as to why you use bolts and non locking type nuts with Loc-Tite as oppossed to Grade 8 lock nuts such as a prevailing torque type or Nylock type? I have found them to be very reliable and readily available. I have a lot more faith in them than I do regular nuts and bolts with Loc-Tite. I also have found the Grade 9 hardware carried by MSC and McMaster Carr to be some of the strongest available and it looks really impressive on the Karts. That is what I use on my builds. Their prevailing torque lock nuts are especially good on the axles and offer extra peace of mind that the wheels won't fall off. Never the less, your fabrication skills are impressive and I enjoy watching your videos. Keep up the good work.
+Chad Hyams thanks for the information. It is actually better to use nylock nuts than what I used. I wasn't able to get them at the hardware store (bought everything at one stop), that's the only reason I did not use nylock nuts. When designing the kart, I spoke with an individual very familiar with go kart manufacturing and the industry, and he said that manufacturers actually use grade 5 hardware, so you would be safe even with grade 5. I decided to use grade 8 just because I like that is heavier duty, but it is not necessary. You can always get higher quality bolts/hardware if you want to.
You have to pass the measurements in millimeters because it is in inches since I thank you
Did you use thread locker on the nut connecting the pedals to the frame? I'm assuming yes, but I didn't see the blue stuff on them in the video.
Yep threadlocker
for the go cart how about a roll cage
If only one wheel turns wont it pull to the right?
hy sir how to install back gears
Do you have a video that shows how to work on the go kart tires? We purchased a very old go kart and the tires are laying towards the inside. Thank you.
+Javier Espinosa yeah, just go to my channel and search for how to replace go kart tires. if they are cracking, or worn, you may have to replace them.
could you do a video on a kill switch for a briggs flattop
+Kyle Orme no, but the theory is this: all kill switches do are ground the magneto out. If you follow the spark plug wire (you need to have the blower cover off to do this) to the magneto, there will be a metal tab on the side where you can attach your kill switch wire. The kill switch will have either 1 or 2 wires. When you flip the switch, it will ground the magnetos wire. With a 1 wire kill switch, you just run the wire from the magneto to the switch, and make sure the switch is touching bare metal so it can ground when flipped. In a 2 wire switch, the switch does not have to be grounded, but the other wire does need to be attached to bare metal. If you go to a hardware store, and buy a switch, keep in mind that it will probably be for a light or device, and the "ON" really means "complete circuit" which will ground out the magneto, so off=on, and on=off for standard flip switches when we are talking about killing the motor.
wow you just killed that tire
Where do u get the drive wheel assembly
When's the live axle and the engine swap happening with a torque converter?
before the end of the year.
This is 6 years old, but may be useful in the near future for me.
Time flies
can i get the tyres of front and rear
What are the dimensions of the frame?
What engine did you use on this vehicle?
My vote is for a race style go kart. Doesn't have to be full race spec but more or less an imitation one.
+Ratkill9000 I have a race go kart ill be fixing up.
Now you have a racing slick.
+Harold Kefauver jr I was going for the pop, but i noticed my neighbors yard was full of smoke so I decided to stop haha. Its going to pop on the next burnout I swear!
Hk Savage send the
do u deliver the goods kart parts in India
I built a go kart using your plans on kartfab.com. I noticed that when driving it with one person it was very easy to tip over. Do you have any suggestions for balancing it?
Thats a problem all one wheel drive go karts have, you get all the weight on one side (driver +engine) so when turning right it creates a challenge. You can lean hard into the turns as an easy solution. Other solutions are going to require much more effort (e.g. putting weight on the other side of the kart, making the rear axle much wider, or centering the engine, and running a jackshaft between the clutch and drive wheel sprocket. Its going to be up to you on what you decide to do, but personally, I prefer having a live axle version of the kart as it has a much wider axle, and the engine is centered, allowing you have a more stable ride.
Sir, you are very good building Go Karts. I would love to build one of them for my 8 year old son. Where can I purchase the exact kit on this video? Thank you very much.
+Javier Espinosa the link is the second one in the description. Have fun!
Which engine did u use
👍
A 3 weheeler whit a moped in the back and two wheels in the front
+Albin Pettersson Ive thought about that (the types that lean), and the front end is too complex to DIY. Thanks for the suggestion though.
you should build a personal tracked vehicle like a mini tank
I noticed you used a lot of thread locker on each bolt. Isn't one drop enough?
+trevor steeves yeah one drop is enough. I always end up putting way too much on because I never know when its going to come out of the tube :-(
how bout a roll cage next?
mini bike next
What is the engine from
A lawn mower engine or gas engine
what color red is that?
would putting a beefier 13 HP require much modification?
Not really, you would just need more room.
v twin mini bike . with side csr......
Where and how do I get them?
Go kart with a long travel suspension!
Including the price of the life axle kit metal and hardware how much does this build cost
+Gokarts, Minibikes, and more! Under $700-$1200 depends on which kit, engine, metal supplier etc you get
That's steep but I'm sure there ways you can cut that by ordering from different websites
Nah, the kit is the cheapest you can get. I made sure of that when i did this. The extra costs are the engine, steel, hardware, paint, welding supplies etc. So if you want to go CHEAPEST, get the kit, then find out where to get metal closest to you (metal supply yard vs home depot, metal distributers are much cheaper, engine can range from $100 to $800, if you go with a 212cc predator at harbor freight its around $100, but if you get a honda gx 390 is around $800, plus you gotta factor in if you do the 30 series torque converter with the predator, that is cheapest, and if you do anything above 8 hp, you gotta go 40 series. if you spray paint it costs maybe $40, but powder coat would cost around $100, if you choose to do grade 5 bolts at a REAL hardware store, they sell it by the pound and it would be cheap then, but if you went to a fake hardware store like lowes or home depot, they rip you off and it costs 2-3x more. Also if you went with grade 8 bolts, you would pay more. So the point of this entire paragraph is that the kit is the cheapest option, and the extra costs are only if you go all out with powder coat, grade 8 bolts, and buy expensive metal at home depot, and get a name brand honda engine with a 40 series torque converter. Otherwise, its pretty inexpensive if you get the kit and shop around for the rest.
Did u also put the set screws in the clutch ?
+INFORMATIONALTECHNICS yeah. But they aren't necessary if you bolt a washer/spacers to the end of the shaft to hold it in place.
I came for the burnout :D
make a drift trike that
can have some friendly competition with cars and cameras
+Gslash25 if I make a drift kart, then it won't compete with theirs. It will blow it out of the water. :-)
@@KartFab hehe
cooll
how much did this build cost
Clutch comes with engine
You should make this go kart with a 250 watt 24 volt engine
+Cipher sounds fast.
Tell me how much hour and cost you spent totally for it...
Build a live axle next
kartfab.com/live-axle-go-kart-plans
Are you ever going to make that with a live axle like I be live u said in another video correct me if I'm wrong
+Ryan perez yeah, but the plans for live axle are already out. The video has not been put together.
Ahh that thing is probably gonna hall ass once you do that live axle swap
Torque converter and knobby tires will make it do that. Yep.
I can't wait to see that in action when u do that
how can I make go karts go faster is it only the engine affecting the speed?
+Eli Sakkab engine, gearing, tire size, weight to some degree.
Great tips thank you!
I’m having a hard time putting the steering together. There’s nothing to attach the tie rods to.
Bolt goes through tie rods to secure to kart
@@KartFab Can I send you pics of my setup?
next do a shifer kart
Do a race kart
Can I use it in rain?
+RootBeer yes
is it good in the hill?
no, but this one is kartfab.com/live-axle-go-kart-plans
I have a 9hp engine with a torque converter, 14lbs of torque, a gear ratio of 4.29:1, 11in back tires, and live axel... And I'm only seeing about 27mph out of it... All the conversion websites say that this is right, but every CZcams video seems to say otherwise, with less power. Is this right?
I did replace a exhaust rocker arm bot after I sheared the other one off (don't ask), the nut might not be tightened far enough because the replacement was longer (possible problem). I had to drill new holes in the torque converter to get it to mount and it is off center by about 6mm (reducing belt tension) could that be a problem? My tachometer says it reaches 2800-3100rpm running (governor removed).. I haven't tried re-jetting the carb yet. Carb valve adjustment needed?
Thanks for any help you can give.
+Will6804 sounds like you have some serious issues. Shearing a rocker pivot bolt is a big deal, and you may have replaced it wrong. If you have enough force to shear a rocker arm bolt, you have enough force do bend a valve, or push-rod.
The second problem is that you modified the center to center distance of the torque converter. These torque converters need a very precise center to center distance for each belt. You should look up the center to center distance required for your belt (comet belt chart on google).
You also said that it only reaches 2800-3100 rpm, with the governor removed so you may have messed up the linkages to not fully open the throttle butterfly somehow.
Why would you reject the carb? Did you put a high flow intake and exhaust in it? That would be the only reason you should rejet. After governor removal, it is a given to put a high flow intake and exhaust on a go kart.
Valve adjustment (setting valve lash) is ALWAYS required when you replace anything related to the valve train. Do you have a set of metric feeler gauges and a torque wrench? Those are two things you MUST have to set the valve lash for both the intake and exhaust. Only buy OEM parts, so you should probalby just toss the "replacement rocker arm bolt" and look up a new one from the OEM parts manual.
+KartFab thanks for responding, the bolt actually broke as a result of me trying to remove it to reset a pushrod after removing the governor. The bolt is longer than the original, but has the same thread size and diameter, and is currently only seated with the same amount of thread exposed above the nut as the untouched one, so it most likely needs to be adjusted. And as far as the T.C. Is concerned, I've been meaning to fill the new holes and drill better ones. Thank you..
This was and still is my first build. With everything except the wheels, back axel, and engine being hand welded, cut, or bent.
+Will6804 good luck man, i'm sure you can figure it out with enough time an patience.
If you're willing to sell means how much you say...
drift trike using a 212 predator
+Jeremy Haas That's definitely up there on my list.
throughout the build you mentioned binding a lot. like "never let this bind what does that mean?
+Johnathan Doe the sealed bearings have tracks in them so if you put pressure on one side of the bearing, you push the ball bearings against the track, causing it to bind. When it binds, it means that the balls do not roll, but they slide or stick to the track which causes lots of heat and they will break or wear out very fast due to the friction, pressure, and heat.
+KartFab Thank you so much. I can't wait to start my cart
+Johnathan Doe Hey I have another question for you. Could a live axle be rigged up to this cart, or would you have to change a lot more things in the set-up?
Center engine and weld axle hangars on it and install a live axle kit.
+KartFab thanks again
build a crosscart! same thing but bigger and more like a big offroad buggy
Why you have not used light and horn??
Lakshya Patel.
Huh?????? A light and Horn ????
You want a Basket in the front too ?
What is going to be your next project
+Eisa Furniturewala im going to need to do a poll on that to see what people want.
build a drift trike
make a mini bike !
I'm new......I want to knw step by step.......
+Rajesh Purru well, that's the last video in the series that shows you step by step
What is the wheel size?
145/70-6 tires on 6" rims
next can u build a two wheels drive gokart
+Jason Mirajkar already did. Plans are on website.
Build a shifter kart !!
+greg mertz im too poor for that :-(
how much did you spend on the go kart kit?
+Brent Lee de Guzman less than it costs to go out and buy one.
You mean $450
What do u use to edit your videos
+Cesar Aguirre adobe premiere
Do u deliver it in india
May be ...?
