  • @charleswa

    MP275 tune is different than the custom tunes Randy does at Mountune. MP275 I believe is CARB approved (as is the Ford Performance) and pretty locked down. There are certain steps you have to follow (Mountune USA or Ford do the install, possibly ASE certified mechanic) to keep the factory warranty similar to the Ford Performance tune. The nice thing with MP275 is that you'd get a warranty on an intercooler, intake, exhaust, etc. depending on what all you got at the time. There's also a "MR300" upgrade that adds a few more parts to MP275 such as IC piping and has a corresponding tune as well. No warranty coverage, though. If you're at that point I'd talk to Randy (or your favorite tuner) and see if a custom tune would make more sense.

    I just wanted to let you know Gjeebs My car had 53000 miles on it when the motor blew. I had the Ford performance tune installed when she let go. My 60000 mile powertrain warranty was not voided and they replaced my long block. Forward performance did state that if the tune calls the issue the it would not be covered since it's over 36000 miles however I had excessive carbon build-up on the valves Which wore the valve stems and allowed oil to leak into the cylinder causing LSPi event

  • @1gsrtom
    @1gsrtom Před 5 lety +1

    Obviously FORD thought this "calibration" would effect the powertrain that's why the warranty it went from 60k miles to 36k as you stated. That's crazy to me, why spend 500+ dollars to reduce your powertrain warrenty by half for no horsepower gains. The mountune 275 pack okay but you can't custom tune their version of the AP so your locked in to that OTS Tune. The best option that most people choose is the Cobb AP with the capabilities to custom tune for your specific car, and is the best bang for the buck.

    • @dallasstanley8867
      @dallasstanley8867 Před 5 lety +1

      My car is at 53000 miles carbon Build-up on the valves calls to excessive valve train where which allowed oil to leak into the cylinder causing lspi Event which blew the motor. I have this tune and I can speak from experience. got my car back on Friday With a new long block it does not void the power train warranty.

    Hey so quick question! I only recently got into the ST Community and you became one of the users I began to follow for tips and advice on what it’s like to own/build on this chassis. I love the sound of the car, but personally it’s upsetting how it sounds N/A unless in full boost. Most standard people don’t believe it’s actually a turbo car unless you inform them or they’re big in the car community and know about them. I love the route you’re going with budget upgrades and keeping it “Ford Performance.” So I was curious if the Exhaust you have on your car made a louder turbo whistle as compared to stock. Great content and can’t wait to see what more is in store for 2019!

    I got the depo beast intercooler and absolutely love it.I've heard the 3.5" work really well too, and it's probably your cheapest option if you desire to go aftermarket. Also, if you dont have an access port yet, I'd highly recommend getting one even just to watch your ignition corrections and charge temps. I think it's worth the investment because personally, I like to know everything that's going on with my car at all times.With my set up, on the dyno, I put out 300whp and 393wtq. And my charge temps usually stay at ambient, if not a little cooler than ambient when cruising.
