This is not a trolling comment, and I mean no disrespect. She’s a great actress. But there are so many factual inaccuracies here plus ignorance of biology. Good to hear this side to the “argument” but too much identity politics and collectivism. Feel free to insult me or call me a misogynist, but I invite you to open your mind and listen to classical feminists such as Camille paglia and Christina hoff summers. Have a good day everyone, love to all.

I wish India had powerful female voices like Natalie Portman who worked towards making a change that is so needed in this country, especially for women. I’m all for making safer work spaces for people, I genuinely think that’s what feminine values will bring to the world.
I also love the idea that women are occupying areas that require more emotional consideration and care.
But you haven’t really said anything that even indicates there is a patriarchy.
“Gynaecology is now a female dominated field”… yeah, good!
So more women are interested in health. Makes A LOT of sense?!
I’m studying in a field usually dominated by women (psychology, community Development and Communications) and I work in an office predominantly made up of women (a RedCross communications office).
I frequently get “discriminated” for not being compassionate enough, but it’s fair game because the job requires you be sympathetic, which is my cross to carry.
But maybe there aren’t as many women in leadership positions in other fields because THEY DON’T WANT TO BE THERE AND ITS FUCKING HARD BECAUSE IT REQUIRES A BRUTAL TEMPERAMENT THEY DON’T HAVE.
Like being a lawyer, in some cases that requires you to argue for hours over autstically specific details against people who HATE you and will do anything to win.
I don’t even want to do that, I don’t know too many people who would either.
What if two people were up for a raise worked 80 hours a week vs one who worked 55.
Regardless of if it was a male or female, you’d choose the former.
The one who worked 55 may be a male who looks after his kid and the 80 an ambitious woman with no other responsibilities.
You’d still pick the woman everytime, because you wouldn’t want the male having to leave because his kid has tonsillitis during a super intense working period where the leadership needs to be there.
    That’s discrimination… but that’s GOOD.
Like discriminating if a police officer is fit for the job, you don’t petition to make the workplace safer and more inclusive BECAUSE THE WORK PLACE IS NOT SAFE, THAT’S THE JOB.
So sick of this stupid fkn division, why is it so hard to accept that men and women (in most cases, not all) have different values.
Instead, why can’t we just learn from each other and use our vastly different skills and perspectives to make things better holistically?

Bc it was once dominated by men with the same kinds of excuses, and before that, not just dominated by men but 💯 occupied by men under the guise of womsn are too stupid to even go to school. That turned out to be a collosal lie and do is this. Two observations from my life - make of them what you will. 1) My sister who works for the government took her maternity leave then immediately quit her job. 2) My managers in the private sector never really get time off - even when they are on "vacation" they are still working, they are always expected to be on call and still dial into most meetings remotely, and sometimes they even come into the office on their days off, even if only for a few hours. We routinely tell them they should turn off their phones and leave their laptops at the office - they reply "that would be nice" and continue working harder than ever.

Katie's comment was that a female manager worked her butt off but did not get maternity leave. My comment was pointing out that a lot of managers (at least in some companies) work their butts off and don't realistically get *any* leave, regardless of sex. In aiming for the glass ceiling, one must stop and consider if that is even the kind of lifestyle that one wants - personally, I'd say to hell with that - I'll keep my lower paying job if it means I still have time for myself and my family, as I think do the majority of people. Man and women are interested in different things, she said it herself that hair, makeup and wardrobe departments are like entirely female.
There are always exceptions but generally, male get male jobs (competitive, physical, boring, etc) like firemen, engineers, programmers, and female get female jobs (caring for others, social, etc) like nurses, nutritionist, teachers.
So to be in power requires harsh struggle to the top, sacrificing everything (even relationship at times) to reach, and many women are smart enough to avoid that. Man however are usually graded on their achievement and being on top of the hierarchy generally means he is a better man than others, and women obviously wants a competent, confident and successful man as their husband.
I mean do women want to marry a man who is a CEO or a man living in his mom's basement...
Meanwhile, woman at the top of the hierarchy doesn't necessarily attract men the same way women are attracted to successful man, hence why we see less women on top of the pyramid than men.

    • @technatezin
      @technatezin Před 5 lety +3

You're also fighting against thousands of years of evolution where men's brains evolved to be technical engineering types. Why? Because when you're faced with either some wild animal trying to kill you or you need to kill the animal for food it was up to you to think of ways to make basic tools like spears, nets and traps to kill them before they killed you and often if your traps and weapons don't work you don't make it to pass on your genes because you're probably killed and eaten by the wild animal at that point. Primitive weapons and traps weren't like the modern weapons of today and required manual physical strength and aggression to operate effectively, so that means the weapon you thought up first in your mind and later crafted by yourself making it your own personal weapon fails in the hunt with the wild animal you're trying to kill or in a fight against another human being, you died along with your unsuccessful genes. In that Darwinian battle who do you think would have the greatest advantage men or women? Women getting killed with poorly designed traps and weapons means the end of the tribe. Technically incompetent men getting killed with poorly designed weapons means the men that were left alive are given a chance to try their potentially more successful weapon designs and if they survive they'll end up passing on their more successful genes to the next generation.

I agree with Natalie. There is way too much violence on TV. Just last night I watched the movie, "Taken" with Liam Neesan. It was a terrible story about a man's daughter that gets abducted. Her father , played by Liam, is some kind of assassin and has all these skills, which of course makes him the hero, but there was so much violence. Awful!!! Then a documentary of something that did happen was on HBO showing these African women, about 276 of them, being taken from their homes. That was heart breaking because it was REAL. TV has got to stop producing violent movies. I believe it is very influential. I remember watching Ross Perot being interviewed years ago when he tried to run for the presidency. He also felt that TV was influential. He shared a story about how he had seen a circus on TV. He and his friends went around the neighborhood collecting the dogs and cats to try to tame them because they had seen a lion tamer. He had shared this story to show how TV indeed influences people. I have been watching TV for many years. I grew up in the late 50's and early 60's. I use to watch the "Rifleman". I loved the relationship that the father had with the son. I have been watching the re-runs of this show. I noticed that every episode had a "bad" guy in it. Every story was the same. People would come into their town and cause bad things to happen. Of course it got resolved by the end of the episode. I didn't want to watch it any more. And that was an old show. I was watching "The Lone Ranger" and it too had the same kind of action. We have not changed. In fact, the violence has become much worse!!!
