A very good video. Very accurate. As an Astor customer (Turbo, Savvy variant) I love the car. Its been 2 years and I enjoy every moment I'm in it driving. The dealership experience also has been brilliant and its not just the care they show but the work done is perfect. Overall, I am very happy I bought this over others. It was just launched when I booked it and I just went with my gut feeling & I haven't regretted one bit.
The astor base model is the best variant to go for and I was also attracted towards to it, the best interior that any other car can offer in 10lakh budget. It was a tough decision for me to choose between xuv300 tgdi W8 and Astor sprint . Reason to choose tgdi over mg is because of the power, FE is almost similar in both cars.
This car really blew me away when I test drove it. Such luxury.. Buttery smooth city drive for sedate drivers. Quiet Cabin , kind of a meditative experience Very good audio quality Huge sunroof, magical to ride at night with it open all the way back Feels like a strong body CVT ribbon effect was there. In comparison the i20 had much less of that ribbon effect(also a very good car) Astor is not for 20 year old youngsters who want acceleration and an adrenaline rush. It is for older people who like other things like a calm and sedate drive with great cabin experience.
MG Astor is truly an underrated vehicle so far, this car has pretty decent looks, features, and strong build quality, and it is spacious. The interiors are premium, and futuristic and look sporty at the same time. The road presence of this car is also fantastic, looks like a premium sedan from the front and a luxurious SUV from the back. I love the car. I believe the naturally aspirated engine is much better than the turbo one in terms of fuel efficiency and maintenance.
Astor CVT delivers 7-8 kmpl in B2B traffic, around 11-12 in light traffic in city and around 15 on open highways. Combined it delives around 12-13. As far as pick up goes, no, its isnt lethargic. It is almost as good as the City.
I agree that in the cSUV segment the Astor is the most value for money vehicle be it the base variant or the highest. Astor is a best value for money vehicle.
I bought astor select last month and trust me it's amazing. If mileage is your priority then I will suggest go for maruti. But if you need comfort and premium interior then astor is the one. I am in ❤ astor. And beautiful look too

What will the owner do if the infotainment system goes bad after warranty? Also the car's infotainment system can't even be changed to a different one. Because ac and other car controls are used though it. This seems viable now but after 3-4 years, what if it breaks. Anyway even if it does not break, you can't even upgrade it, just stuck with an old system. This is a major problem. People are thinking they are very good company they gave a music system in base variant, but they did not even give buttons for AC on off. it is also done through screen. After 5 years, there will no doubt be many new features added in even after market stereos. Every other car bought now will be upgradable except this. The biggest issue is the availability, what if the same system installed is not readily available? It has potential to make car sit in garage for months...Why will anyone buy it in resale when they realize the system cannot be updated at all??
Your concern is very genuine and I heard the spares of MG is costly. I guess the company have planned well to recover more money from its customers in the long run
The Indian market has trust deficit bcoz of the Chinese tag of MG and mileage is always a main concern for Indians. Personally base variant is most value for money and I am planning to buy one. At the price of 10 lac ex showroom you are getting a safest mid size SUV with the premiumness and so much feature loaded. The base models of seltos and creta are far costlier with no features. That's how I feel . Personally I don't mind the mileage as my running is low

I have been using cvt for the last 1.5 years and getting 10-11 in city and 18-19 on highway. I am not an enthusiast driver. I enjoy driving within the speed limit and love driving my car with my family.
But its 1.5 NA is similar to kiger or magnite 1.0 NA when you actually drive it. And inspite of such a sluggish engine, its mileage is in single digits. Initial low cost is not worth an unsatisfied everyday driver

There is nothing to overlook or highlight there. It delivers 10-11 kmpl in the city and 14-15 on the highway which is par for the course.
