MG Astor Petrol Variants Explained | Sprint, Shine, Select, Sharp Pro, Savvy Pro

- Feb 2024: In this video, we review both manual and automatic versions of the petrol-powered MG Astor to analyse which variant makes the most sense for buyers in terms of the value it offers for the money you pay.
MG Astor is offered in the following variants - Sprint, Shine, Select, Sharp Pro, Savvy Pro. There’s also cosmetic enhancement in some variants in the form of Black Storm edition. We also discuss these in this video. Watch the video to find out which variant of the 2024 Astor Petrol suits your needs best.
The MG Astor SUV is available with 3 engine-transmission combinations. The ex-showroom prices of the 2024 Astor start from ₹9.98 lakh for the Sprint variant with the 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol engine and 5-speed MT. The range tops out at ₹17.89 lakh (ex-showroom) with the Savvy Pro variant, which gets 1.3L turbo petrol engine with 6-speed TC
The MG Astor is available with a 1.5L naturally aspirated Petrol engine and a 1.3L turbo Petrol engine. The 1.5L naturally aspirated Petrol engine is available with a 5-speed MT and a CVT transmission. The 1.3L turbo Petrol engine gets a 6-speed TC transmission.
The 2024 Astor is 4323mm long, 1809mm wide and 1650mm tall. Bigger exterior dimensions give a car a stronger road presence. The Astor has a 2585mm long wheelbase. A long wheelbase makes the car more stable at high speeds and gives better legroom in the back seat, while a shorter wheelbase makes the car more agile.
The 2024 MG Astor has a fuel tank capacity of 45 litres and a boot space measuring 448 litres. The Astor has a ground clearance of 180mm. The tyre size of the 2024 Astor base model is 215/55 R17 and the top model rides on 215/55 R17 tyres. Cars running on bigger wheels provide better handling and styling. However, these advantages come at the cost of efficiency. Having bigger wheels means more metal and more rotating mass. Therefore, it adversely impacts your drivability, performance and mileage.

The Astor base model can challenge many SUV's top models; the looks, the interior, and the finish are so elegant that anybody would fall in love at first sight. It is a great chauffeur driven car. Nice, elegant, and looks more expensive than it is. However, if you like driving and are always in a hurry on the road, then it's not at all for you.

Astor Sprint is gem❤.I can see people complaining for mileage. Instead they should be thankful that Astor is giving so many features at such good price for a well built car. Also mileage isnt that bad like how its claimed at some places. If anyone has natural astor please tell the real figures here

My Astor gives 10kmpl in city and narrow pothole filled bad roads with frequent braking/ short trips and 15kmpl on longer drives with cleaner roads. I have touched a maximum of 18kmpl with ac off on a night drive when traffic was non existent. All these figures attained with sensible driving. Rash accelerations will drop the mileage like crazy. In that case the best you can hope for in city is 8.5kmpl.

If you choose tin ka daba Maruti body then it will be a racing car. It's slow to pickup because of weight to ratio ( because of solid build quality).

I'm planning to buy a car under 11-12L on road. I have decided to go with astor or grand vitara. Confused which one to choose. I need little clarity, plus looking for decent performance and milage. If there any other option of other cars, please let me know. This is my first car, so looking for a positive responses.
I am also currently searching , i taken test drive of both astor and gv and planning to take test drive of other cars , trust me gv can only give mileage , rest it's useless, take a test drive , drive the car agressively on pathetic roads and you will able to find out what should be your decision.
Hi, big fan of your video. It makes me justify and decide which variant to go for. I booked the Astor base variant last month and am still waiting for an update from them. Meanwhile, I am a bit confused with other models as well, like the new XUV 300 facelift, Kia Sonet IMT HTK plus variant, and Gand Vitara. However, the features that are offered in the Astor base variant are not applicable in any other models. Could you please provide me your suggestion, like whether I can still go with the Astor Sprint variant, and do you suggest any other models with this price range. Also, I am a bit concerned about the mileage with Astor. Much awaited for your response. Thanks!
me too. same issue. booked astor sprint last month. delivery in march end. but mileage and power are big issues. confused in getting grand vitara sigma, brezza zxi and kia sonet diesel.

Bro compromising on average is fine but don't compromise the life. You won't feel safe in GV, Brezza, etc
I own Astor from last 2 years. go for it the interior is not less than 50L car. It give your safety, and the feel of sitting in an expensive car, and eventually justify the mileage issue

A friend bought Astor in 2023 and he getting a mileage of 6-7 Kmpl
He must have bought Lamborghini by mistake, lucky for him!
City traffic varies everywhere. With 17kmph average city speed in Bangalore, I get around 9-10 kmpl.
On highways with 60kmph average speed, I get around 15kmpl.
On expressways, with 80-100kmph average speed, I get 13kmpl.
All the above figures are with AC.
I feel mileage is not so bad. But it does drop drastically if I drive aggressively.

I own savvy turbo variant. Performance is great. Maybe little less than VW Taigun 1.5 l turbo. But adequate and similar to Creta.
This car is all rounder. It is not best in one particular thing. But it is good in everything.

Astor is the best the that money can buy, specially sprint nad select variant but mileage is the only downside of this Vehicle 😔

If MG increased the price by 1 lakh and increase the fuel efficiency to 17 kmpl, then the audience would happily buy it. In reality, the base variant especially is VFM among all C segment SUV's. Whatever premium you pay on other cars ex showroom price would never be compensated on the fuel expense on this car.
