    Hey Gemma,
    Coming from Australia, these are what we would call scones - pronounced sc-on-s in Australia, the 'e' doesn't change the 'o'.
    Funny how we all have a different way of pronouncing words!
    G'day from Australia 🇩đŸ‡ș 😍

    • @biggerbolderbaking
      @biggerbolderbaking  Pƙed 2 lety +1

      Hi Carleen. That is true re pronunciation. But the two breads are actually different. Essentially, they’re categorized as quick breads relying on raising agents baking powder and baking soda. Scones contain more eggs than biscuits, have sugar which biscuits don’t have; scones have less baking powder and butter than biscuits so tend to be denser and less flakier than the latter.
      Milk or cream is used in scones and buttermilk is always used in biscuits.
      Glad to have you here!

It's still a grain but metabolizes like carbs from veg instead of carbs from grains. Also it doesn't spike my blood sugar. Good luck with keto.

      Hi Kimberly. You want to keep all of your cold ingredients very cold in this recipe. Cold butter gets worked into your dry ingredients, cold buttermilk is added, and then the biscuits get a good chill before being baked. This chilling process cools the butter back down. Once the butter meets the hot heat of the oven, it expands and creates those flaky layers Southern biscuits are known for. Hope this helps.

      We eat them a lot with eggs and bacon or sausage. They aren’t sweet though unless you add sugar. Also, scones generally have an egg in the recipe.

      Hi. Biscuits are more savory as it’s often eaten with gravy or savory dishes, while scones are more on the sweet side that’s often eaten with jam and cream. Essentially, biscuits are categorized as quick breads relying on raising agents baking powder and baking soda. Scones contain more eggs than biscuits, have sugar which biscuits don’t have; scones have less baking powder and butter than biscuits so tend to be denser and less flakier than the latter. MILK or CREAM is used in scones and BUTTERMILK is always used in biscuits. Both can be eaten sweet or savory, too. Hope this helps.

    The call for an egg in the ingredients had me stumped but it doesn’t go IN the biscuits, it’s for an egg wash.
