- Hey guys, a new video recorded with 2 camera's,and synchronized into 1 screen! Tell me what you think about this video in the comments. If you have any questions just fire away !!
Note : the sound is messed up because the camera was mounted on the wrong place with allot of vibrations. I'll be making more of these videos but then with the sound quality you are used to get from me :)

Watching with my 91 year old dad. Two boat nerds from different generations watching and appreciating seeing things from your eyes... great job! Thank you so much!
Damned, if only I was told that there was such a job when I was a school boy. I completely wasted my life 😄
This dual camera setup is amazing! Like it very much, please keep going. :-)
Amazing +Simulation and Aviation AND +ShippingHarbors uploads within a couple hours of each other? I don't think this morning could get any better! :)
Wow. Utterly mesmerising. Thanks for the videos and the explanations.
Great video! One of your best :)
Can I just say that the deep bassy sound of the engines sounds a-maz-ing on a good 2.1 speaker setup? Thanks for posting!
That was great, I am only just aquainted with the Voith propellers but I like them and this demonstrates their amazing thrust and manourverability. Sorry if my spelling sux, Im from Australia, between the English and American, I for one get a bit confused.
Excellent video, one of the best.
I've always loved Tug boats since I was a child. They are awesome.
I plan on working on Diesels on Naval Subs, maybe one day I could be someones engineer. Cheers and Godspeed!
I realize I am kinda randomly asking but do anyone know a good site to stream new tv shows online ?
PERFECT VIDEO !!!
Very interesting vid !! Many thanks !
I am currently working with ASD, this video is great to know how to work with Voith, you never know ...Thank you mate!
+Pedro Siaba hehe in my case it's the other way around. I would not know how to operate an ASD tug. I would sure like to learn tough.
Driver has got really long arms.
Extremely cool to be able to see the control inputs and what effect they have!
They all work in conjunction to produce thrust in any direction. Google voith simulator and you can see how the system works. Kind of like a helicopter in the water
@@MrDieseltwitch that's awesome, just downloaded it and toyed around with it.
PLease do MORE,...like this!!....
This is ridiculously cool!
Thanks! The sound is messed up unfortunately but I'll solve that in the next videos.
This is one of the BEST videos I've seen like this!!!,. If you could add,Narrative on controls(text).and also the radio communications!..That would awesome!,..Thank You,Sir,...for the upload....I really, enjoyed this!!
+stevenjay72 Thanks for the comment :)What do you mean exactly with text on controls? The radio communications i can not post online because of privacy regulations. There are pilots and other people communicating in the port and it's not allowed to make those conversations public.
@@ShippingHarbors like I do not like the Rules, but rules are rules, thanks to sharing everytrhing possible, it s great to follow
Smooth operation.
+cal raines hehe if i watch it myself i think it looks nervous operating, alltough i'm totally not nervous while operating the tug :) More videos like this will follow shortly
Love your videos.
With your propellers forward are you usually driving stern first to give you greater control?
Who controls how much line to pay out on the winch?
Mooi om te zien hoe dat werkt met het roer en de pitch
I personally love the sound of the low rumble on these engines, but true there is a little distortion here and there at the low end, but goes away when you up the engine torque. Also can you control the winch paying out the tow wire from the bridge or is it deck controlled only? Thanks for really nice video!
Wow, GREAT SCOOP ! I had it figured out to be QUAD (4) cameras, however, saw 4 screen synchro'ed. Neat VIDEO, Explanation please on left (Port side) screen, Is it a power (electrical to the POD'S? and the Starboard side I believe is the steering of the TUG. Lastly, why is the deck hand BLURRED OUT? You do amazing video, I'm sharing it out to my friend list. Thanks for producing amazing video.
+J. Pierre Malette Hello, thanks for the nice comments :) the electrical buttons control the rpm of the main engines. The deckhand is blurred out for privacy reasons. I'm not allowed to show people recognizable in the video, and i'm fine with that :) Thanks for sharing the video !
I understand. Some folks are reluctant to be filmed. Thanks
Great synched dual screen! What cameras and software did you use?
2 times gopro hero4 ;)
The editing software was GoPro as well?
+Nickoli Payne Première Pro ;)
Ok, can you please briefly explain the controls? and is there pointer on the steering wheel which says which way the tug will go ? :-)
+Coolkeys2009 It's rather difficult to explain the controls to someone that is not familiar to Voith :) Very briefly -> The left sticks are the pitch controls (forward/reverse), the orange buttons is to raise/lower the engine rpm, and the steering wheel is to control starboard/port trust with the Voith Propellers. Yes there is a pointer on the steering wheel but it's difficult to see because the steering wheel is in front of it for most part :)
+ShippingHarbors Thanks, I've seen the diagrams of how the system works on wiki so your explanation is 100% clear. The only thing I found slightly confusing watching the video was hearing the turbo's spin up when you moved the leavers past the center point, I now know why the engines were loading up :-)
The rpm selector, how may level are they?
-It seems you always go stern first. Is that a correct observation?
Is this a Damon Tug ?
What are the red Buttons used for ?
+bobl78 Those control the RPM of the main engines ;)
I wish there was some sort of narration I have no idea what was going on for some of the time, I am referring to the steering
Brian Cummings, so fo I. I don’t know anything about ships. I guess what looks like a fork lift steering wheel is the rudder en the controls on the left, throttle?
@@gromit3315 This vessel doesn't have a rudder. It has two Voith-Schneider propellers which are basically like helicopter rotors, but instead of being flat the blades stick downwards into the water. The blades always spin in the same direction, so the levers and the wheel do similar things by changing the angle of the blades. The levers on the left side of the screen control essentially whether each propeller is ahead or astern, and the wheel controls their port/starboard pitch. It's a pretty cool system - in one of their other videos you can see the tug leaving dock and the stern moves sideways, because these blades can be angled to literally push water straight out to the side. The buttons select engine RPM
(I have no experience with these, just found these videos recently and decided to look up how the VSP works!)
Did the crew person not want to be filmed?
+Bill rouleau The person did not mind being filmed, but due to respect to my colleagues i always blur out the people in the video :)
+ShippingHarbors Ok, I now know why he/she is blurred out.
