From race riots, through town hall galas and now a celebration of Afro - Caribbean and West London culture....Welcome to the second biggest street festival in the world; The London Notting Hill Carnival 2023.
First brought onto the streets in 1966, the origin of the Notting Hill carnival is rooted in the arrival of the Windrush generation; West Indians who were invited by the British government to help with its post war reconstruction. The carnival was the product of the West Indian community's yearn for cultural celebration after the riots. My Name is Mickey....Keep Watching!!!

To be honest I felt old myself to attend. But I thought it would be a good insight. I'm happy you liked it. And yeah the sankofa lady surprised me. She said we were the only people that understood it. She was pleased.
