99% of this track is a single live DFAM sequence. Another DFAM sequence is just hi hats (+ a couple of one shots and a texture in a couple of places).
ALL the sounds are from DFAM.

still a great example of how the DFAM is a perfect blend between bass and drum synth, the amount of tones you can get out of just one machine with some effects and some layering is crazy

this is pretty brilliant. back when it came out a lot of the demos had intense but not very musical sounds.. this is the best representation of what this thing can be when controlled properly, and what i always hoped people would do with it.. makes me wanna get one again!
Ben Fs thanks :) yep, I didn’t like most of the DFAM vids. And hoped it is much better. It is especially wonderful and powerful as a sound source for samples. You can check out my full tracks using only sounds from the DFAM :)

acidfunk11 yep, when I was thinking of this device, there were really only a couple of DFAM vids out there that I loved. But I suspected it can do more so I risked and got it, and I do not regret. Got two of them now. It takes time and effort to find the right settings and even more time and effort to think of the jam structure, but eventually it can be a pretty standalone box. The only thing is that the more “complete” you want a track to be, the more hard it is to get a great kick without sucrificing other textures and sounds (although, DFAM CAN make PERFECT FAT kicks IF the kick is your only intention at the moment).

Scottish Lewsham glad you like it :) I have switched to using them for sound design with other gear later, making full tracks. Need to get back to them as live machines in the nearest future, I hope. This one was my first DFAM jam :)... even didnt know how to tempo sync it to the daw at that moment, so I just was entering the delay values manually until I found the correct timing for its tails :)

Was about to say no way is this just DFAM as every patch needs reverb and delay, but then read the description and recognised my own workflow after just 1 minute listening. This device is just awesome along side a modular setup and find myself lost in it for hours at a a time. Great track!

Jeffrey McGoldrick Nice choices for the first synths I guess. Especially dfam. Cuz although it is a really weird and non-standard synth, it is very playable because there is actually nothing to program as its FULLY analogue. You can just use a template, hit play - and the fun begins :) The Sub is much more complicated I believe. BTW When I was thinking of DFAM I hardly could find videos that were perfect for me except only one - from Mylar Melodies channel : )

Avesta naah, that was a happy accident :) I’ve owned that thing for about a week when this came out. Knew shit:) The beauty of the dfam is that it usually HELPS you achieve your goals! You just hit play and something interesting happens almost straight away.

Insane! What a fantastic jam. I have watched this vid multiple times one of the best out there for sure. I have to know. There is a sound almost like an Elk call (obviously not) at 1:11, 2:39, 3:43 and 5:07. I’m hoping that is some sort of self oscillating resonance or FM thing going on because it’s so cool. Is that sound specifically produced from machine going nuts? Or did you add that element later in the final mix? I have to know. Thanks!

Creaturefarm Hi! Glad you like the track :-) Unfortunately, this is not what DFAM did within the sequence playing.
As you can see, at the very beginning I just play the first step a couple of times using the Trigger button (DFAM sequence is not playing). After I recorded the jam, I just then tweaked resonance, filter (and highly possible the FM knob), and recorded different variants of that first step separately, for textures. Then placed them in Ableton. So that “Elk” is one of those variations.
I wish DFAM could do this. But its just a “single track” machine. So to make this jam without overlays, I would need 3x DFAM :-)
