I like the idea behind this video. Even when I was watching shacketon series, my eyes were stuck on this ad. I actually paused the video and read that job ad twice or even more. One more thing. I’m going to come across like an asshole, but that is shit advice. First, Shackleton was already a famous explorer by the time he published that ad. What man wouldn’t jump at that chance? Second, it attracted men who had mettle. Who didn’t care about the pay, who cared about testing their worth. That type of ad is far more likely to convince someone to join the military than the corporate world. Work long hours, work for substandard pay, make money and glory for someone else. Get your own cubicle... live your life being super good at excel spreadsheets and get glorified with an atta boy when you give that epic presentation on derivative financial reporting. Hell of a lot different. Despite years of study and conversation, Academia and the corporate world knows very little of leadership. Almost nothing at all. You’d be better accurate describing how childbirth feels.
