Personally I would never be able to live in Durban but my husband is from KwaZulu-Natal and he says he would love to retire there. It's a completely different culture and vibe to JHB and CPT. Durban has the warm ocean water though which is why most South Africans go there for holidays.
Best time for me would be winter because its hardly ever cold in durban. Summer time is humid and unbearable. So from June through to early spring would be the perfect time to visit Durbs. Personal preference.
Why would you never be able to live in Durban? I've heard good things about the place .
@@sylviasworld9397 it's just my personal preference. I personally don't like the layout of the suburbs or even Durban city centre itself. I love Cape Town but my husband would never want to live there. It's all about your personality really. Durban over weekends or holidays is fine for me but not for every day living

@@nelenesmithSA I lived in Cape Town and it has the best people. If I could put Cape Townians in Duran that would be great. I live in Durban and it has the best layout. The 1 thing I couldn't bear about CPT was the layout. I cried the first time I drove into Hout Bay. In Durban the suburbs are "hidden". I couldn't sleep peacefully at night in CPT because it's just too in your face. Not all of CPT obviously Bishops Court you can't even get there with a taxi. Super shady.

You absolutely have to visit the eastern cape. Take the garden route from cape town. So beautiful. You will pass the longest bungee jump off in the world at tsitsikamma

Durban's people are very friendly and welcoming, certainly more so than Johannesburg aka Joburg aka Jozi.

Durban people are very warm u will definable feel welcomed. But if I am being honest the guy on the video experienced hostility because of the reputation nigerians have in SA. Most people shut off the minute they realize u r nigerian

There was a time not so long ago when we couldnt access some beaches so it would be wrong for us to turn around and block access to public beaches.

Used to go to Durban on holiday when we were kids. But that was in the early 80's. Remember spending a lot of time on the beach playing in the sand/see.

LOL I have never heard of anyone eating crocodile meat in South Africa either so that's something new for me too as a South African. I thought that stuff only happened in Asia somewhere, but don't worry our food is very good, you'll be satisfied with our food.
@Abongile Diva people do eat wild animal meat in South Africa including crocodile. I personally ate it. There is a restaurant in Muldersdrift called Canivor and they sell all sorts of wild animals meat and that restaurant is always full. So yes South Africans do eat crocodile meat, you just haven't eaten it.

Hi, Durbanite here …I cannot speak on behalf of everybody who lives in Durban but I would like to think I speak for the majority In regards to people not being receptive towards the gentleman. My statement is not meant to generalise either but there are tensions in Durban as there is a high influx of undocumented foreigners mostly Nigerians who commit crimes and deteriorate the CBD, selling drugs to the Youth. There are places in Durban CBD that aren’t safe for the locals because of undocumented Nigerian immigrants a Great example would be Point street. As a local especially female it isn’t a safe space for us to walk there anymore even in broad daylight. So I understand the cold shoulder this man might have gotten, but either than that Durban is a really warm city and very welcoming

At Lesedi Cultural Village you saw AmaZulu, Motswana and Basotho. The colorful entrance of the village is Ndebele Art. Lesedi is a Sesotho & Setswana word meaning light.
The guys who were doing gunboats dance said "A re tsamaye" It is Sesotho/Setswana meaning: let's go. The guy was dancing alone (20:45), he was doing 1 of Setswana traditional dance. The guys at 20:50 are Basotho.

So Thabo Mbeki is the former president of South Africa, he became president after Nelson Mandela and in 1998 he presented his famous speech called "I am an African" in parliament.

Please do visit, even if it's just to see Gandhi's home. There's a place called Ushaka Marine world, where Zulu dancers will entertain you for free! The stadium you saw also offers bungee jumping.

It been said not only him quiet a number of CZcamsrs who visit. I think it a language thing though. Zulu people don't like to speak English atleast if you ask them 3 times until they realise oh you can't speak Zulu then they can speak to you in English but another in Market we don't talk to people as we think they might want to rob you so you ignore it protective mechanics I guess
As a Zulu man I wouldn't say that we are not friendly. Respect is a huge thing. There's a way of doing things. He could have asked the people off camera like a day before (his fixer should have organized that) that such and such will be happening. But if you just come with cameras looking for interviews there will be suspicion because the last time we were kind we had #colonization
So it's just a respect thing. You always start with small talk before you ask questions. Ask how people are. Ask about life. Tell them about yourself and your life. A good 5 minutes of small talk will be enough until you get the shorthand version.
You will love Durban it's beautiful but you should visit in December
I wouldn't be able to live in Durban. I am too attached to the Joburg vibe. I love going there for a vacation though. This video was awesome but we can't wait for you to get here in person ❤️

Private beach is illegal in South Africa. All the beaches of South Africa are accessible for everyone to enjoy. There is freedom here.
But Oudekraal Beach is a private beach in South Africa, you must pay a small fee to access it

@@Jade-zu4ru I just looked into that Oudekraal beach, it forms part of Sanparks, Table Mountain National Park, I think that's why they can charge there, but it's the government that can do so, not the private sector. In general the law doesn't allow private beaches to exist in South Africa.

Well if people knew about Cecil Rhodes they wouldn't have a monument of him on the mountain in Cape Town. Everybody back then was like that because they had psychological issues due to the fact that colonizers destroyed their psyches. We haven't even begun to address the colonization question as a continent, and the deep trauma of it on all of us.
