    The way I was taught slow flight, and well beyond, pitch for airspeed, power for altitude. Keeps it pretty simple for students.

    Trim for airspeed. Even a Champ has trim. Use the elevator to get the airspeed to where you want it, then trim for that airspeed. Then control altitude with throttle.

    Nice, tail wheel is big step because you have to keep flying it until you're at a complete stop and you can not really see ahead on takeoff! But I am 100% sure you can handle it. Good luck.

      Also if it's the Super Cub, I have heard they are kind of hard to get used to because of the heel brakes and trim.

    My video on the same thing below. I suggest a Garmin virb for you cockpit video, also a contour + or aviation version is great!

    What is your tips on starting flight school. I am 22 and it has always been a dream of mine. I have a decent job but it doesn't pay a ton but I would say it pays pretty fair and average for my age.

      Warren Oakes I mount my camera to my hat which causes the constant moving. I apologize if it made it hard to watch. Thanks for watching!

    Great video Ryan. Let's get together and I can tell you the history of that 7AC Champ that you are training in. Her history for me goes back to 1969 at Sycamore strip and A&W aircraft when I first laid eyes on her. I have welded on her many , many times in her hours of distress, the last being only a couple of years ago with major surgery on her battered rudder derived from being flipped on her back for various and sundry reasons that were not disclosed to me. Keep up your flying education my young friend and I hope your aviation dreams all come true..........Dwain. czcams.com/users/19Cub

    Why all wheel landings and "stick forward" in initial TW instruction. The primary instinct in a taildragger, especially a champ, should be stick back. Wheel landings should come after that primary instinct is ingrained. Perhaps he already has learned 3 point instincts, and this is subsequent training? Just curious.

    • @CaptainAviation
      @CaptainAviation  Před 5 lety +1

      This was my first exposure to tail wheel aircraft. By going stick forward you keep the tail wheel off the ground and mitigate the risks of a high speed ground loop.

      @@CaptainAviation : good explanation on why stick forward. I'm just starting out on Tailwheel. Decided it was about time. Who was your instructor? Robert?
