Seriously doubt that this is Russia's main offensive, but is rather intended to force the Ukrainians to weaken the other Ukrainian front line positions.
This way they can use their superiority in manpower to the fullest extend.
It would not be surprising if the Russians opened a complete new front to accelerate this process.

Shoigu's new position as head of the Federal Security Council is not exactly a retirement and nothing like the Zhaluzhny's case, who was mainly pushed out of his position.
Actually this position is one of the most influential in the Kremlin and Shoigu will be more powerful in this position than he was as minister of defense, which is mainly an administrative function.
Patruchev, his predecessor in this position and former head of the FSB and the FSK, is well in his 70's and most probably ready for retirement.
It surprises me that Lavrov still remains in position, since he already indicated a while ago that he was ready for retirement.
Probably Putin asked him to stay on until the Ukrainian conflict is resolved.
I had forgotten about Patruchev. I can see how Lavrov may have tired of dealing with his counter-parts, the imbeciles. That position could quickly grow old on such a man.
Mr. Lavrov - the world's best foreign minister! Think that Russia has such a strong team just in these times when it is needed the most!! A team of professional experts that has no match in the world right now. Hope the Russian people give their best estimate.

Im sorry Dima but concerning Shogu you are just dead wrong. Firstly he has been defense minister since 2012, so 12 years not 5 or 6. More important , his new position is a promotion. Its a position with more power and closer to Putin. Definitively not a retirement.
His replacement is civillian but with a lot of knowledge about economics and can optimize military production.
PeaShooter is absolutely correct. Shoigu was promoted. He now has a more powerful position. He was neither retired nor demoted. Only the Western propaganda spins the political promotion as "sacked". Do not give them oxygen.
I'm fed up with the media in my country (France). Many of them just keep telling "Russia has been stoped", "Russia is missing amo", "Russia will soon have no more tanks", "Russia as no air superiority", "The situation is dificult but ukraine still has the advantage as they inflict tremendous losses to Russia".
And of course, push for war, as if ukraine had an infinite number of soldier (and even if it was the case, well deads are deads)
same bullshit everywhere, on everything from covid to climate change. the policy being that if you tell a lie often enough it becomes the truth. no wonder The West is in such a state of decay.
Hi Dima, thanks a million for your detailed explanation of the situation but I want you to change that word 'capture' to 'liberate'. Thanks and have a great day
I appreciate that he is using his own language. 'Captured' is factually correct, so there is not really a need to change it.
If I was him, I would want to report as objectively as possible, which means waiting for geolocations or definitive proof to mark changes on the map.
Also means to include sources from both sides and using a language that is no polarized to either sides' ideology.
He also says "Charkiv" and not "Charkov", the latter being the Russian pronunciation. Which is fair, since Russia does not officially claim Charkiv and it's still under firm Ukrainian control.
No, it should be capture in a sense since Russia is invader. Anyway, History will judge what happen in Ukraine.

@@cotizacionesequipo1719 Russia's objectives are not secret. I am not a 4 star either. In my opinion the UKR army will be incapable of fighting before 2025 starts. Perhaps long before. That does not necessarily mean the conflict will end.
Hello my dear friend!
Bearing in mind that his last name is Zelensky or Greensky in English, it's no wonder that he likes those green bills a lot!
Ukraine lacks everything right now: trained and combat-ready fresh troups(infantry+weapon systems technicians), reliable logistics infrastructure and weapons supply but the most important resource is...time.
Russians grinded and gnawed at their defensive lines for months, Ukr defenders are exhausted and stretched all along the front line.
Now that a third front is open in the north, the UAF's depleted resources will be stretched even thinner, leaving easily exploitable gaps for fast-moving incursions.
The Russians will read and react to what the UAF defensive lines and postures offer before to decide what would be the next offensive move.
They have the luxury of time, they can choose what to do next...
If the northern defensive line crumbles, they will open a new front in the south towards Odessa and Transinistrea, stressing further Ukr's logistics and available resources;if not they will keep the UAF honest on both east and north fronts, keeping on depleting the UAF resources until the breaking point, then finally russians will open a front in the south.
One way or another, the UAF's logistics and pool of capable troops is depleting fast, leaving them extremely vulnerable to new fronts...
Personally, I would bet on a Russian offensive in the south, soon or later. Securing the Odessa region is rhe biggest strategic goal, it would make Ukr. landlock and allow the Russian navy to control the Crimean sea and allow the Russian to push north.
Basically the cauldron will be expanded.
Knowing this doesn't change much of the outcomes because, I will repeat it again once again, Ukr doesn't have the time to train new recruits, the logistics infrastructure to shuffle around its resources efficiently and enough ammo to resupply its defensive fronts.
It's game over but the Zelensky regime and its sponsors don't want to acknowledge it...
~ A keyboard strategist.
Astonished Putin asked Elensky "Are you serious?" when uka opted out of options to end the war that had been going on for 8 years PEACEFULLY, using diplomacy. They chose the war against Russia instead of peace talks.Did Elensky really think he can crush Russia? He might be suffering from a work injury - too much role play and scenes in his life.
For example. The Second World War. Hitler took 500K Kiev in a 600K grouping, then the Russians liberated Kiev in a group of more than 1KK. The Russians are now advancing 50K in the Kharkov direction.
Quite an accurate assessment in my opinion. An example of RFAF following your analysis is the current situation where they are attriting the strong defenses at Chasiv Yar, instead of wasting their soldiers' lives on a frontal attack.
You must be talking about Russia!

As we see, the opening of the northern front was provoked by Ukraine’s attack on Belgorod. I think NATO strategists decided to sacrifice Kharkov for the sake of protecting Odessa. Since it was believed that this summer Russia would go to Odessa, and now all resources and troops will go to the Northern Front. For Russia, Odessa is very important, because of the land border with Transnistria, where problems are now beginning.
