So, ten years ago, you didn't care for the pretty-boy types and preferred humor and brains. Good for you. You showed wisdom beyond your years. I hope that you still have this account active because I'm just flat *dying* to know how your romantic life has proceeded in the past decade. I hope I get an update from you!
before i saw him on this show i saw him in some kind of indie movie where he was a greiving widower--he was so sad and when they made him a villian here i was like, "really? who made that call?" but he's incredible. I had the same thoughts on casting lana as EQ cuz i had only seen her acting as pretty and nice but they are my fav villians by far....
@thestoriesofbob His role in Once Upon A Time is a good one! Although he's not in it as much as the others, he's still one of the main characters and a pretty important one too. I love him in OUAT!
Nothing will beat his role as rush in sgu. And Boone could ever replace his role on there either. But the best of luck to his new show. I might have to check it out just for him being in it.
Okay...I know you commented some time ago but, I just wanted to say that I don't think Robert knew everything about his character at the time of this interview. He said previously that he doesn't like to know things too far in advance and it wasn't until episode 10 (around there) that he was clued in to the extent of Rumple's memories.
Nice! I like that the show is written by two of the writers of "Lost" (Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis) and they are going to pay homage to the show by inserting Easter Eggs in the Pilot episode! I'll definetely be on the lookout for those! Also, I like the very charismatic cast that they have gotten. From Ginnifer Goodwin and Robert Carlyle to Jennifer Morrison, I think that each of these guys and gals are going to bring so much to these classic characters that we know and love.
Some fans believe he only got his memories back, when he heard Emma's name. That's why he wanted to learn her name from Snow White, before she was born. It was supposed to be some kind of unlocking charm. But I'm with you. I, too, think he never lost his memories at all. I think some kind of rule will be revealed in the future, how only the CASTER and the CREATOR are allowed to retain their memories with a curse like this.
+Danielle Musella I think its an interesting topic to talk about, how Mr Gold may or may not have lost his memories when the curse was cast. When he left Storybrooke to find Neal he did say if he reverted back to his cursed self they would be in a bit of trouble which may mean he did lose his memories like everyone else but then got them back once he heard Emma's name. For me Im thinking half and half, 50% of me thinks that Gold lost his memories and 50% of me thinks he never did. I just hope that we'll get a definite answer of which was which. Rumple is a very cunning character, in my opinion, the best character in ouat.
Wolf-Of-Darkness He's certainly the most tragic character. Nearly everyone, w/ a few exceptions, had some element of darkness in their backstory. But Rumple definitely had it the worst. It still gets me choked up sometimes, just thinking about it. That's mostly because of how nobody really seems to care. All they see is what he does & that he's not "changing". They're not looking into why he is the way he is, which (in any other situation) should be the place to start that "changing" process. Maybe, "changing" is the wrong word. I'd call it "healing".
Danielle Musella I totally agree with you, Rumple in my point of view suffered the most with his past and present. As you said, no one really understands him and how difficult it is to put up with the darkness, Emma and Hook said themselves that it was hard to resist not going down the dark path, but Rumple has to go through that all the time. He tries to help at times and 'change' for Belle but keeps getting tempted by the darkness. It really does show how brilliantly written Rumple's character is and how Robert plays him so well. I do look forward to see what will happen to Rumple in season 6, with Belle under the sleeping curse and their child. What are your thoughts on the series so far?
Wolf-Of-Darkness I'll be honest, I didn't know much about the show before S5. I'd only casually peek at it, whenever they announced something special happening on a new episode. Then, they showed the "Dark Swan Rising" retrospective last year. It really perked my interest & got me so into it. I was born the same year "Beauty and the Beast" came out (1991), so I naturally gravitate towards that storyline. I like the way they've written Belle as a character, but she frustrates me at times. I noticed something about her arguments w/ Rumple. She could walk away & say (essentially), "I'm done with you.". But when he tries to do that, she gets upset. She always says that she'll never give up on him, yet she keeps doing that over & over. She's a lot of contradictions. I'm surprised nobody's ever called her out on that.
@thestoriesofbob Have u seen OUAT?!? His role is incredible! So complex and intriguing, and he plays it beautifuly! I think that's definetly a good show he land!
Mr. Gold flat out told Regina that his name was Rumpelstiltskin in the episode called "Skin Deep". How do you figure that he is still unaware of his past life, then? lol

As much as I love Ginny, I wish she'd let Robert speak
The 2 best characters on the show right here!
I came just to hear Robert say "fairytale" multiple times.
Robert Carlyle is an amazing actor. He has made the role of Rumplestiltzkin an amazing character. Sadly, next week is the finale to the show.
Robert, dude, Mr. Gold totally knew! XD
Oh well.
But Robert couldn't spoil anything, could he?
TheSneezingAnouki Ah, that could have been it.

I love that they got a little SGU mention in there :)

very nice show
^^
SOOOOO MANY EASTER EGGS....
Prime example: Objects in Dark Castle in the Skin Deep episode.
he remembered who he was in the first episode, the moment he heard Emma's named, as confirmed by the writters
@tpach09 i must disagree with rush being his best role. robert as rumpelstiltskin is the best thing to ever happen to this world. :)))))
she practically always shouts!
Neverland or biggest Lost Easter egg?
@CarmenIF We as the viewers know now, but Robert didn't know that Mr. Gold knew at the time.
I know. I saw the interview the did a few weeks ago. :)
I've always really liked Rumpelstiltskin...strangely enough.
He was in Eragon as Durza he was very scary
@thestoriesofbob true, he does not have enough screen time! I havent watched SGU yet, so i can't opinate on that, i'm still watching SGA! :D
@quidwitch yes yes yes! same here!
i love how he lied to everyone that he did not remember!° that mad it a greater twist that he rememberd since emma was back

sguuuuuu
oh noes, but he does know who he was before the curse. tsk tsk
Easter eggs??
@imadinosur His performance as Rumpelstiltskin seems a bit hammy to me by comparison.
