I read all of sherlock holmes books/short stories a few years ago when i was obsessed with tv series sherlock, and i remember how i was freaking out when i came across even the smallest scene or sentence that was adapted in the tv show lol it made the reading experience more fun
I'd give the Snow White with Red Hair manga series a go, it has an anime series as well and is super cosy with a very sweet romance and found family vibes

I’m now reading the first book from “A Veronica Speedwell Mystery” series and I love it. ❤ My manga recommendations will be “Fruits basket” and “Ascendance of a bookworm”. I love both of them!
A the moment trying to get back into the reading mood after reading Fourth Wing and Crave. My suggestions for a new manga series would be to check out Kakuriyo - Bed & Breakfast For Spirits & Fruits Basket. I had a good time watching and reading these two series so much and I am rereading Fruits Basket yet again this summer *chef's kiss*.Enjoyed the cozy long vlog.
Another wonderful reading vlog! I have been reading so much lately! I’m currently reading “The Fair Isle Trilogy” which has similiar vibes to ACOTAR! I love it! Only 100 pages to go of the last book of the trilogy to read!
I just finished reading the regency fairytales trio and the other two were definitely not as good as half a soul, but they were still cute and whimsical. I did end up enjoying them, so perhaps worth a try 😅.
Those strawberry yogurt clusters sound so good; I definitely need to try making them sometime. And for a fantasy romance manga I recommend Alice 19th. It is an older series but is one of my favorites and it’s only seven volumes long. ☺️
fushigi yuugi is very similar to yona of the dawn so i think you'd enjoy it (though the female lead got on my nerves a lot) also basara is similar as well, and that one is a bit darker and more mature. also i think you'd enjoy inuyasha as well. the best thing about all of these is that they're all finished lol because they're old mangas. also now i want to make my own edward sparkly thing lol and a study in scarlett took me a while to read and i don't think i fully understood everything that i read 😢 i think the story was all over the place and i had a hard time focusing.
definitely will have to check out fushigi yugi! and inuyasha! i really need a completed series to get into because i can't stand waiting for more volumes of yona to be translated😭 i can't say i would recommend the sparkly edward thing, but if you're up for a challenge and have a few hours to spare it's kind of fun haha! also very glad to know i'm not the only one who was struggling with a study in scarlet... i understood (most) of the first part just fine but the second part is not going well😳
i’ve been wanting to do that pully photo thing for so long but with the picture of dorian gray but it seems so difficult 😩 but seeing u do it has given me the motivation to give it a try bc it would look so cool in my annotated copy
I just finished An Impossible Imposter and really enjoyed all the twists and turns with ‘that character’ from the past. Finding out more about Veronica’s past was fun and reinvigorated my interest in the series - books 5 and 6 were okay but I didn’t feel the need to keep reading. I might get the 8th book from the library, not sure I’m invested enough to actually buy it though… I have both read all the Sherlock Holmes books and also listened to the audio books - read by Stephen Fry, but it has been a while. I’m currently on an Agatha Christie reread - the Miss Marple stories which tend to be my favourites.

if you're ever in the mood for something similar, ten thousand stitches is just as good! the main character is so lovable and i read it in one sitting like its just as easy to devour as half a soul. i will say tho that the romance isn't as good as half a soul bc elias wilder had me pretty down bad and the love story plot line kind of takes more of a back seat in this one but ten thousand stitches is still really good n cozy! i think its perf to get out of reading slumps and u can finish it in like 3 hrs! ALSO theres some cameos (like scraps) of dora and elias which made me very happy :")

I read some Sherlock Holmes’s books a few years ago and liked them, I prefer the Sherlock books that are a bunch of short stories compared to the longer books like A study in scarlet tbh but I’m obsessed with the tv series ❤ For manga recommendations Toilet-bound Hanako-Kun is really good, it’s not a fantasy but it’s got ghosts with a little bit of romance and I recently found a manga series called Frieren, it’s fantasy but instead of being a romance it kinda focuses on different types of love (I’ve only read the first volume so idk if that changes 😅).
I agree with you about not continuing with the Half a Soul series. I loved Dora Elias so much that I don't think I'd like the other 2 as much. Also, if you're in the mood for a fantasy with morally gray characters, I cannot recommend The Shadows Between Us more. It's so good and I love the characters so much. The girl is so witty and cunning and even though she is technically a bad person, I can't help but root for her.

I really recommend King's Beast manga, not necessarily fantasy romance, it focuses more on the revenge plot, but it does have very cute moments (there are 10 volumes out and I've read 8 so there might be more development that I don't know of yet).

I have been reading the Sherlock Holmes collection slowly and I had the same feeling about “A Study in Scarlet”: absolutely loved the first half of the story and dreaded the second half but I pushed through it, it ties up at the end, maybe you can do the audiobook for that part! But the other stories I have read so far are not like this one, Sherlock and Watson are fully present which I pretty much prefer haha Love from Portugal 😊

Inspired by 'Interview with a Vampire' and 'Being Human: UK'. --Mouth Full of Ashes by Briana Morgan Mouth Full of Ashes is a novella retelling of the original Lost Boys film. I more so enjoyed annotating this book (i.e. making snarky comments about the story in the voices of the four Lost Boys vampires). I did enjoy the sapphic romance in this story, but as a whole the story felt a little underdeveloped because it was so short, but still fun and worthy of a read if you at all enjoy the film.

Mouth Full of Ashes is a novella retelling of the original Lost Boys film. I more so enjoyed annotating this book (i.e. making snarky comments about the story in the voices of the four Lost Boys vampires). I did enjoy the sapphic romance in this story, but as a whole the story felt a little underdeveloped because it was so short, but still fun and worthy of a read if you at all enjoy the film.
Do you happen to remember where you got that heart necklace with the gem on it that you wear a lot? The one you’re wearing when you talk about the toast lamp. I notice it all the time and it’s so pretty!
