Love your videos brother! But I have to disagree with you on the braid. All I use is braid for my swim baits and I've never had one issue breaking off even with Lings.

You need to add some kind of lift handle on your cooler lid so you are able to open it with your elbow.

Did you ever tested your vhf radio? I heard most of them are useless since signal doesnt reach coast guards, did you tried testing it while in ocean?
I normally run straight braid, 65lbs power pro. After a few lings I retie anyway but Never had issue with it, when I do snag, I kick it in reverse and usually get most of my swimbaits back. I run gofish cams/water wolf and notice when your jigging swimbaits off the bottom your in the strike zone much longer giving the lings more opportunity to hit your lure, cast and retrieve I would notice once in a while a follower but lings are ambush preys so if it’s out of their comfort area they’ll turn back. Also when fishing in shallow areas for lings a natural colors does make a difference, one of my go too is pearl white dyed with blood red to resemble octopus. In deeper water colors doesn’t matter as much but size plays a factors. Hope this helps.

How do you setup the trailer swim baits? Dropper loops with a weight on bottom? Or no weight on bottom since the jighead are already weights? Trying to do some rockfishing and can’t find content on setting up with trailers ?

i dont use mono for a leader and never have a problems, i have had more issues with mono by far rock fishing.

One question though....from what I see online we are allowed 10 rock fish that are 12 inches but I don’t see people measure the rock fish. Why is that? Or is there no size limit?

One trick that will put you on big lings, rock fish and halibut is to use a oversize Tube baits . Pumpkin/Green color and Orange both mimic octopus which fish love. They do make a load of fake Octopus lures but most are quite expensive vs a Tube like a Tora Tube and the Tube bait you can use over and over as their is no tail to worry about. You just rotate the tube, find a uncut spot , rehook the leadhead and send it back down for more.
Look up Canyon Plastics website which make the big tubes all the up to 10 inch size. Brand wise they make tubes that hold up very well against sharp teeth.
Also forgot to mention that you can also rig a tube weedless and some of the best lings and rock fish that never see a hook are in the thickest nastiest matted kelp/rocky zones other anglers wont touch. Think Large mouth bass fishing style on steroids ripping Rock fish/Lings out of their holes.

Sometimes we poke pole. But that’s from the shore. We poke a stick with some line and a hook baited with squid. We poke that into crevasses in the rock when it is low tide

You never know what you are going to get on the teaser... Twice now I've had a double ling hookup... It's like the first strike entices the other to hit the remaining bait. Atleast that's what I tell myself ;-)

You might get a 20 lb or bigger which tries to eat the smaller ling on the teaser as well.

Why is your radio on 69? Don't you want it on a channel where you can hail the Coast Guard? I grantee that once you hit that cold water, you will not be able to think about turning on the radio of changing it to the appropriate channel. Just some advice.

I Used to spend hours in that water wearing a cheap 3/2 wetsuit surfing. this is my old home turf.
If he goes over he'll be fine and will certainly be able to change the channel on his VHF if he needs to, the water in Pacifica is cold... but it ain't Alaska.
Also, He's dressed for immersion if you didn't notice... the guy is wearing a wetsuit. Plus, he does have a buddy in proximity.
