My daughter's 2016 Jeep Cherokee with 2.4 engine had a engine noise, a mechanic diagnosed it to be lifters, $3300 to fix it, I being mechanical, diagnosed it to be the alternator, I removed serpentine belt, no noise, the alternator bearings were ok, the noise was from the front pulley of the alternator, i installed a new alternator, serpentine belt, idler pulley(worn). I spent $400, its been over a year now, still sounds Ok. Glad I was able to fix it, and saved alot of $$.
