Bass has to be above guitar in the mix for MOTP due to the volume and pick attack issues that can arise with the pitch shifters utilized for the specific MOTP guitar effects :) but yes it’s heavenly
At 3:20 Matt sings "since i lost you" instead of the regular "since i met you", which is a reference to his old girlfriend, who he since broke up with after writing the song so he sings it differently live.
@@br-jj6re One of the most overrated festivals (Glasto). Download 2014, Muse were epic, magical even, beautiful evening, the Sun setting and the crowd was energetic, we sang with Matt, we lived the experience! Muse are nigh on perfect live and a bunch of zombies like Glasto don't do them justice.
The sound board guy was a loser who thought he was a great sound board manager, but he absolutely sucked by cutting out 80% of the mid tones that carry the human voice factor. It turns the audience off. I'd raise the mid tones up to the 90% range and high tones 100%, and hold the bass around 70% to 100% at the bottom. Plus run a few mics to the drums to help carry the best through the mid tones at 85% maybe less we don't want to over ride the vocals. Some songs need Mac low range like Madness. Others stay in the range I described. Others get boosted for guitar solos in the high range. You just need a real sound board guy that knows the songs.
They are jumping to the sky in Time is Running Out. This is a great song, wouldnt say its moshable... its always one of the songs in their sets that I stand back and appreciate the epic nature of it all!
Currently addicted to this song. It's pure perfection, especially that bassline - drum. Chris is so loud here and I love it. His gigantic tone could smash my skinny body away to space. Dom makes me want to go riot. This song either makes me feel optimistic or pessimistic about my future. I can't get it riiiiiiiiiiiiiiIIIiiiiiight just like Matt says.
Actually while the resolution is nice I thought it was more to do with the fact that it was all in-line. Meaning no echoing crowd :( but no shout-out attention seeking cunts as well :)
When he broke up with his 1st girlfriend in 2010 he changed the lyric since then. (I mean the girlfriend who is an Italian psychologist, the one before Elle Evans and Kate Hudson)
Matt wrote the song to Gaia Polloni, it's supposed to be inspired by her nagging, however, since they broke up (fall 2009) he changed the lyrics to since I lost you.
(new fan here) Mine used to be hysteria and while I listened to all songs from their albums in a couple of months I hadn't noticed MOTP until recently and now this is my favourite. I guess I had too much information at too little time and I didn't see the awesomeness of this song
That base of Chris's sounds incredible. It sings like a mournful angel in the introduction ( Peter Hook homage), then becomes an instrument of relentless devastating power . I shouldn't smoke so much. This Music is devastatingly beautiful.
That is so awesome. I am 50 now and Muse is one of the few post 2000s bands that got got me listening to stuff other than the same old, same old like Zep and AC/DC etc. I still listen to all that old stuff, but finding something new that really grabs my attention is great. That have so many good songs and it is really creative stuff that is fresh and interesting, but still can rock with the best of them.
Glad you love them, my parents are quite as old and don't like because "they are shouting so much" in knight of cydonia and hyper music... Welcome to the muser's club.
Perfection. Is Matt the greatest musician / composer ever? I suspect that he may well be. This clip shows Muse playing at their very best, in my opinion. The sound quality and video must also make this One for the Ages. Thank you for this wonderful post.
MotP is a work of the highest of High Art, as it were. Anyone who doesn't love it must be emotionally dead or a big thicko. How can any one group of musicians be this awesome?
They seriously nailed the mix on this one. All three (well, four in this case) of them are awesome! And on top of that, the riff at the end! My goodness! No question, my favorite live performance of this song!
In a world where "The" Guitar Riff is getting scarce in music more and more each day, Muse, and Matt's persistence in playing them, are just Invaluable Treasures.
If you're looking for a down-and-nasty version of this song, here it is. The video and audio quality plus both outro riffs (!!!) definitely puts it in the top 3 performances of this song!
He used to play this with only doing the intro with a pick, throwing it away for the rest of the song. But in the last few years he's been grabbing a new pick during the breakdown for the second verse when it speeds up from 8ths to 16ths.
Fear, and panic in the air I want to be free From desolation and despair And I feel like everything I saw Is being swept away When I refuse to let you go I can't get it right Get it right Since I met you Loneliness be over When will this loneliness be over Life will flash before my eyes So scattered almost I want to touch the other side And no one thinks they are to blame Why can't we see That when we bleed we bleed the same I can't get it right Get it right Since I met you Loneliness be over When will this loneliness be over Loneliness be over When will this loneliness be over
Was trying to work out for ages where I knew this from then realised it was the countdown backing track to the start of the opening ceremony at London 2012 - goosebumps on both counts
I would define High Art as a creation by human/s (mostly) which evokes a most profoundly positive and memorable emotional experience in the viewer / listener providing they are reasonably mentally well - balanced. Discuss if you can be arsed.
Can we just appreciate how heavenly LOUD is the bass in that mix?
Chris is a master!
Bass has to be above guitar in the mix for MOTP due to the volume and pick attack issues that can arise with the pitch shifters utilized for the specific MOTP guitar effects :) but yes it’s heavenly
@@kylejarmolych The pitch shifted should be compressed as hell because of that :D
You are my peeps
LOUD? the mix of this performance is sterile af
That trio is a genius group
There's four, actually...
@@abydoss6736 nah, the fourth, while important, does not help make the songs in any way, he only appears for live shows
Dont forget Morgan Nicholls (Fourth Muse)
Noo It's one every song's wrotr and composed by matt
That's such a boss move at 0:42 when Chris just drops the pick after the intro
How is that a boss move?
@@Chiefmonks I'm no musician but I think it's boss because he didn't miss a beat despite the interruption.
So groovy! Love that guy.
Pretty sure it was on purpose....
Didn't notice it! Nice spot
Muse just needs to release a whole album worth of their sick ass riffs.
Salty Sea Pickle or they could maybe become songs in the future like psycho and a lot of stuff of the last record, which would be also great
Drones
Just make a mixtape. Buy all their music. Everyone has different tastes. So yea...
i play drums and i say YES TO THIS
those in the end aren't their riffs, but Rage against the machine riffs. Just listen to "Maggies Farm" by RATM.
At 3:20 Matt sings "since i lost you" instead of the regular "since i met you", which is a reference to his old girlfriend, who he since broke up with after writing the song so he sings it differently live.
This is probably one of the most intense, emotionnal and beautiful songs from Muse and still the crowd is dead, wtf
That’s Glastonbury for you
yeah but something is off with the mix and timing.

I die when Matt sings "Since I lost you"
I too prefer "since I lost you" to "since I met you."
When _will_ this loneliness be over?
Since I Matt you
nice change
he chaneged the lyric ??

I adore.
In every ranking of Muse songs I’ve seen this one is consistently in the almost all top 10s. A masterpiece.
MATT of the Problematique.
so clear holy hell this is one of the clearest and best quality live clips ive ever seen
I noticed this too! I think it might be the framerate that does it.
Actually while the resolution is nice I thought it was more to do with the fact that it was all in-line. Meaning no echoing crowd :( but no shout-out attention seeking cunts as well :)
It's a progressive frame rate :)
Abbey Road might want to have a word about that .
Although I do agree it's a great video this is post production.
4:35-4:40 is fuckin gorgeous shot.
What riff is it?
Who knows who - Muse ft the streets
sounds like "heartbreaker" by led zeppelin to me. But mixed with typical Muse things :D
I remember they did this half before entering Citizen Erased song back to Rock Am Ring 2004 concert
RATM COVER :D
Their clothes and haircut in 2015 are actually my favourite
I love when Matt says "Since i lost you", it makes me think that he really wrote this song to someone
When he broke up with his 1st girlfriend in 2010 he changed the lyric since then. (I mean the girlfriend who is an Italian psychologist, the one before Elle Evans and Kate Hudson)
gaia poloni
He did xd
Matt wrote the song to Gaia Polloni, it's supposed to be inspired by her nagging, however, since they broke up (fall 2009) he changed the lyrics to since I lost you.
This song is truly a masterpiece
It's so damn hard to choose of course, but MotP is probably my favourite Muse song. Such emotions, so beautiful!
I'm stuck between this song, and United States of Eurasia for my favorite. IT's so hard to choose one!
There's too many to choose to be able to only pick one. So many standouts, not just hysteria and plug in baby (the overtly popular ones )
this and the handler, hard to choose. ROck on!
(new fan here) Mine used to be hysteria and while I listened to all songs from their albums in a couple of months I hadn't noticed MOTP until recently and now this is my favourite. I guess I had too much information at too little time and I didn't see the awesomeness of this song

3:38-4:09 I am dead. Don't send help it's too late Matt's voice killed me
I'm dead so much times with his voice 😁 I think I must have several lifes 😁
Beautiful! Still one of my favorite Muse songs to date..
Dominic is a beast!!!! OMG! 😰😱

Love how Chris just throws the pick away at 0:40
You literally commented the same thing up above
I Like Trains 😂 yeah I forgot I had commented this a year before
Such an underrated song. Definitely top 3 muse song
This song is a masterpiece.

Agree. This is top tier Muse. Up there with anything they've ever written.
agreed!! amazing they are

its in my top 3 of Muse songs for sure
A masterpiece !
Agreed. My favourite song in the world

Holy shit you're so lucky man! 0-0
Wow! Sooooo lucky

4:17 i almost died.My heart almost exploded
His head move after "since I lost you" at 3:22 made laugh ahahahahah
Yeah xD
It's pretty sad tho 😢
Absolutely epic 🤘🔥
I'll go to every concert until i'll be able to listen and cry to this song live.
So... Chris plays the intro with a pick, the first verse with his fingers and then changes back to his pick during the first breakdown. Kewl!
Mogenar a criminally underrated bassist overall.
He actually dropped the pick lol.
He used to play this with only doing the intro with a pick, throwing it away for the rest of the song. But in the last few years he's been grabbing a new pick during the breakdown for the second verse when it speeds up from 8ths to 16ths.
Fear, and panic in the air
I want to be free
From desolation and despair
And I feel like everything I saw
Is being swept away
When I refuse to let you go
I can't get it right
Get it right
Since I met you
Loneliness be over
When will this loneliness be over
Life will flash before my eyes
So scattered almost
I want to touch the other side
And no one thinks they are to blame
Why can't we see
That when we bleed we bleed the same
I can't get it right
Get it right
Since I met you
Loneliness be over
When will this loneliness be over
Loneliness be over
When will this loneliness be over
i can't believe i have the fcking privilege to say i heard this LIVE! and sitting in the pit in my hometown during their 2015 world tour!!! goodness~!
Dominic is A BOMB
Singer/guitarist and bassist must be going for a bike ride after this set by the looks of it
Drummer has the same outfit, just cut sleeves so he can drum 😂
Screw the bike ride he's going to war.
I always got chills while listen to them
stunning
The best night of my life 💔 can't believe it's been three months I cry every time I watch it back
it’s now been 4 years, you still crying..?..😉
My favorite song from they, it makes me feel so high!❤
They produce such an incredible sound. Seriously amazing
Holy shit! This is amazing quality! 1080p yes, but this still looks incredible on my 4k TV!
Schigera humble brag
Take ir easy for a little while
How do people think Matts voice isn't the same? I can't get over how powerful he sounds
tori.o3 I think his voice gets better with age. His voice is more full than its ever been. I love it!
I'm asking the same.. I guess people just like to complain
He’s gotten more control over his voice over the years, I guess people just miss the rawness. But it would be damaging if he kept going like that
Seen them a few months ago in Glasgow, his range is still top drawer and his ability to call up any part of it on command is second to none. 👍
Beleza Chris no baixo.
GOD I LOVE HOW HE SINGS!!!!
Best song ever written.
Woah the clarity of the video! Almost like I'm there in person.
One of my most favorite MUSE songs ever. The lyrics is just so powerful.
And why do I keep replaying that part when Chris throws his pick?
My King of Bass Tone distracts me most of the time 🤲🏽
The bass guitar bring so much emotions in the whole song
I've been to 3 Muse concerts in Brazil and never got to see this live (one of my favorites). I hope they play it next year!
One of my all time favourite songs
I loved the outro who knows who+maggie farm (ratm riff)
added to my bucket list :
driving 200kmh in an Audi while listening to this song at max volume
