    Hey bro, good job, im nearly positive that the RT 180 is the same bike as a DT 175. Which is relieving, i was worried about finding parts for my RT. Its not my only bike but i want to keep it running. Parts for it are such a pain, the only stuff that comes up is used stuff on ebay. Thanks bro

    These dt 175s are so weird, ive heard they still make them like this! ive got a dt 125 lc mk1 from 1983, which is basically this bike but liquid cooled. in europe here these DT:s evolved into modern bikes and theyre like everything else out there, plastic fairings and modern looks , but in asia they still make this mk1 which i find really weird lol

    Hi. I enjoy watching all your videos about the DTs. I also have a DT175 project bike I started more than a year ago but now just collecting dust in the shed. I see that the reed cage is not exactly made for the DT175 that is why you need to make an adapter. May I know what is the part number or for what bike that reed cage is for so I can order. Thanks a lot and keep on making interesting videos. Cheers.

      Hey man glad to hear you like the videos.
      The reed cage was a V force 4 for a yz85 yamaha, yep it didn't quite fit so I made a adapter

    • @TheMotorcycleForge
      @TheMotorcycleForge  Před rokem +1

      Some of the bits I got for it were from Cmsl and motor parts, ie rod and piston from a place in Japan called Tkjr

    Do these yamahas have the silenced expansion chamber like the wr/dt 200? If so, Removing that would give really good performance gains

    • @TheMotorcycleForge
      @TheMotorcycleForge  Před 9 měsíci +1

      Yep they do and I did cut it open and gutt it and weld it up.

    Which oil do you use in engine? And also oil bottle?

    • @TheMotorcycleForge
      @TheMotorcycleForge  Před rokem

      I generally use a quality two stroke oil like castrol and for the transmission/ clutch oil I use a motorcycle engine oil that's around 10w40. Any decent brand will do, Repsol, yamalube, valvoline ect

    • @safi9978
      @safi9978 Před rokem

      Engine oil you use 10w40 4T?

    • @TheMotorcycleForge
      @TheMotorcycleForge  Před rokem

      No that's for the transmission and clutch. You can use many types of gear oil as long as they are ok for a wet clutch.
      Straight 30w is pretty good too, was a while ago so it might have 30w in it.

    What model reed block did you use ??

    • @TheMotorcycleForge
      @TheMotorcycleForge  Před rokem

      I used a V-Force 4 reed block for a Yamaha YZ85.
      Part number V4R82A-i and I made the spacer so I didn't have to destroy my intake to make it fit.
      Hope this helped.

    How’d ya derestrict the expansion chamber mate?

    • @TheMotorcycleForge
      @TheMotorcycleForge  Před rokem

      I carefully cut along the join with a angle grinder. Removing the outer side of the fat part of the chamber, removed the restrictions and welded it back together and got it ceramic coated
