My grandpa recently passed and I had to go through mountains of shit in his apartment today, but this made my day so much better. Thank you so much Tedward, have a pleasant day.
@@TedwardDrives Went out for a drive to clear my head so I'm doing better, but it still sucks. Nothing like listening to a Porsche go through gears to make the day better though
I can remember walking close to downtown to get onion rings or something with my little brother after church one day and one of these in black was sitting outside of a convenience store, covered stem to stern in road grime and slush and mud from a fading Canadian winter. Just cemented the Cayman as a dream car for me.
I am a forever Porsche 911 fanboy. But oh my goodness, does the GT4 RS embarrass a 911 for the same price. Porsche held back for quite a while before really going all out on the mid engine platform, but the RS is a absolute go-kart. I can’t wait to see it in person.
Awesome piece Tedward! Binaural audio is clearly doing a very good job at allowing me to hear how this engine actually sounds, has much more of the flat 6 howl to it than I originally thought.
I've only driven manual cars my entire life but it's pretty pointless on the street if you can barely get to third and we have no tracks where I live. Manuals are better with less power on the street in my opinion so you can really go through the gears.
Wow that 3 cylinder fuel saving trick is really neat. Especially considering the current fuel prices. You can save some fuel if you just need to commute through boring part of town, or highway. Then enable the other 3 cylinders when you hit the twisty roads.
Funny enough I watched you drive out of that parking lot that day. I was taking a break getting some fresh air and saw you roll by. Scratched my head and thought "I wonder if that was Tedward." Guess it was
lovely car. i love the ones that are fast, but approachable and usable. one where you can actually row through the gears and not be going to jail immediately.
Seems like the perfect weekend warrior. As much as I’d love to own one, that price range is the biggest deterrent for me. Maybe some time in the future.
It's enough for sure. This thing is brutal, i rode in one last year and its very harsh. Theres a fire extinguisher under the passenger seat, no up and down adjustment, the seats swallow u. And it does donuts pretty well.
its slower for an average shifting joe like me, than my 981 GTS PDK, but man i still want one in manual. I apparently have a above 50% chance at my local dealership for a Spyder when april/may swings by. Fingers crossed. Going to be in either GT silver, or Chalk (very debated...is Chalk a fad? or is it really just good to the point that even Chevy has it on hatchbacks lol), with the LEDs, and classic spyder interior, 18 way instead of Bucket (hate them)
GT4+manual! Potentially the last of its kind! Historical mid-engined like the succesful 30's Typ 22/ P Rennwagen (P for Porsche race car) and manual aaaaall the way! This is a pinnacle of auto engineering history. My absolute favorit car. And I couldn't agree more with the point that it is not overly powered - but that is simply not whatthis is about. But the engagement, the feel of control! I simply get goosebumps. Everything in a car with more than 500hp is controlled by a computer anyway - what the fun in that? You could just use your PS5 then ;-) And sure, the higher the red line the more madness you get! But com'on :-D
Hey Tedward. Do you know why is it that Porsche doesn't need to add rev hang to their Manual models, but almost every other manufacturer adds rev hang to their cars, citing emissions regulations? Rev hang is the first thing I watch out for in your manual POV drives, and I'm always happy to see the Porsches since the RPM falls fast and smoothly
Thanks! I'm trying to get my hands on a GTS to compare, but lots of people I trust love it. I'm sure theres some feeling lost due to the differences in suspension but for a road car its likely fine. The question comes down to cost of ownership for me. I believe the GT4, although more expensive, will depreciate less.
wtf are those gears though? 6000rpm in second gear at 100kph/60mph. This is clearly not intended for road use. In most countries you would get one redline pull in 1st legally.
9:00 funny you say that seeing as how Porsche dropped the GT4 RS basically today with precisely that. Not even detuned 493 hp only down 10 hp due to longer exhaust. It’s 24 seconds a lap faster at the nordschleife than the car you’re driving which is insane!!
This is one of my dream cars, it's probably unrealistic for me, but i hope i will be able to buy at least a normal boxter or cayman. Tedward, can you tell us if there is a big difference between a GT4 and a normal one?
The standard car is a fine chassis and the 4cyl Turbo is potent, but the engine really lacks the character you expect. It never feels whole for that reason.
What's your choice? Manual GT4 or the GT4RS with PDK only?
Manual all day
I would say both if i have the money
Would have to stay with the manual. The rs may be a little better all round but for a car like this you gotta be attached to it
This is the toughest choice ever, very long-geared GT4 or 9k rpm madness RS
GT4 RS with PDK . 9000rpm is sweeter
I’m in class but my boy Teddy matters a bit more than exponential models
Back to school kid!
Not gonna drive one if you watch someone else drive one in class bruh
@@anthonymancuso3675 who says that
@@anthonymancuso3675 just because you watch something on CZcams does not mean you cannot drive one
As long as they keep the manual option the 4.0 is definitely enough
Very nicely timed with the announcement of the GT4 RS
I had a different video ready to go but when they announced I figured I should put this one up ASAP. Late night
@@TedwardDrives Good stuff as always man, thanks for the awesome content!

As a SoCal driver, 11:51 would be the highpoint of my day.
Ahaha my thought exactly but you know no one in CA would leave that lane open lol
This car has more "oldschool" 911 vibes than the curent 911 has!
This is actually pretty factual haha
@@TedwardDrives I'm just happy Porsche choose to make such a car, now that the 911 became more about luxury!
911 now is more of a luxury touring car. It's nice, but the old school 911 was like a go kart
When you accelerated for the first time the captions said [Music] and I couldn’t agree more. Gt4 is pure awesomeness.
Even CZcams knows what's up! 😝😂
can't wait for you to try the GT4RS
Me too. This GT3 engine is going to sound INSANE in a mid engine car

Wow. 81mph redline in 2nd gear. Having some closer-spaced ratios would allow you to enjoy the shift a bit more on public roads.
My literal dream car, I'd have to opt for the GT4 6 speed as I'm an enthusiast and there's nothing like rowing through 8k RPM.
Awesome piece Tedward! Binaural audio is clearly doing a very good job at allowing me to hear how this engine actually sounds, has much more of the flat 6 howl to it than I originally thought.
I was fortunate to get my GT4 Manual in Sept 2021. I absolutely love the car. Very special every time I drive her. Great review!!!

I agree
The GT4 and GT4RS are the best new Porsches out rn imo.
Wow that 3 cylinder fuel saving trick is really neat. Especially considering the current fuel prices. You can save some fuel if you just need to commute through boring part of town, or highway. Then enable the other 3 cylinders when you hit the twisty roads.
Nice strategic blur of the speed there ;) I love these things. What a great piece of engineering! Great video, as always!
This car is so absolutely beautiful
The engine note is just 👌
After driving one, i agree with everything in this video. There is no other car like it, the feeling of it is phenomenal

This car is still crazy fast
Im not worried about the steel brakes now! Thanks again for the GT4 review. 👍🏾
This car is a true gem. You can tell how special it is to drive just by looking at the pov and how it turns. Its just a piece of art.
I'm a simple man. I see a Porsche, I click like.

What a stunning car. Great sound and amazing looks, and a manual as well. Great video as always.
Felt like garbage this morning thanks to seasonal sickness, but after watching this, it seems to have lifted
🍻
Bruh I was in school in the morning
The manual with the 4.0 is the perfect street car in my opinion. Not too powerful, but performance is still jaw dropping. And that sound!!!

That car is sick. Love driving on the 2 in my Cayman 718
@Tedward -- Do you plan to review the '22 or '23 Porsche 718 Cayman GTS 4.0 anytime soon?
Wow. This seems like a dream track car. Drive to the track on your 250 TW tires, romp it all day, go home.

It better be at the same price for a two seater lol
Man, I want to be able to comfortably afford a good Porsche
6:29 I get you're excited Teddy, but yikes!
The sound difference between 6:12 and 6:14 (when the sport exhaust is activated), that alone should be a selling point.
