Honestly the screwdriver thing is the best thing I have ever used. I love the top that spins and I like that it doesn’t turn into bayblade when my fingers fly off of it
@@Sunstepa 1. That's a you thing, not anyone else problem. 2, the comment was from 2 years ago. Please stop necroposting, lets see how you like it. 3. Why are you saying that it isn't the "best" review they had seen? How do you know what they saw. (personally, I think the volume is perfect)
I just received my Pro Tech kit from iFixit yesterday and am now seeing this video today (without searching it out) on my recommended viewing list. Thanks for the nice review. I'm looking forward to putting this kit through its paces.
I have the old driver set (the one with the clear plastic lid). What I wish they'd kept is the hole in the handle so you can stick a bar through and really be able to torque a screw loose. This is the main reason I still have the handle and short extension from the old set, it turns your hex bits into ersatz T wrenches. It may not be a great replacement for proper T wrenches, but I was able to free a couple of stubborn M5 bolts using it.
just look at customer reviews for different brands. You can find certain cheap toolkits that will work just as good..I would get a driver that is electric or powered by battery. Much faster.
There are actually two "versions" of the second generation Pro Tech Toolkit. The main difference is that the second "version" contains the iPhone Standoff bit. The first "version" didn't come with the Standoff bit but was instead the "Square" bit. I noticed mines didn't have the Standoff bit so I had to purchase another one lol
3:03 my co workers do try to steal from me as well so what i do is mark engrave them with my initials when one goes missing i ask to see their tool kits a voila its there lol. also bits stealing is a big issue so ive just started keeping my kit in my backpack lol
It's there any cheaper alternative because I'm out of the us I want something for my switch joycons/ other devices/ how dose there life time warranty work if I'm going to get one can I use it and is it better to buy it in black Friday?
Giving 9 out of 10 on a case made of ABS (look at 02:52) is way too generous. I understand most people won't be tossing it around, yet polycarbonate/fibre reinforced would be proper 9. Also I'd have liked to see a test on the metal with a file (for hardness)
@@RealWorldReview ABS is pretty much the cheapest hard plastic and easiest to mold. For instance check luggage case made of ABS vs polycarbonate (and esp. the glass fiber reinforced ones). Overall if you see ABS cases, the tool is cheap, it can have really fancy details too as it's cheap&easy to mold.
Honestly, I love the iFixit Toolkit, but the only gripe I have, is that I can't open up Wii Nunchucks, Nintendo Switch Pro Controllers, and possibly, not even Virtual Boys. But those are niche to open up, now aren't they?
@@RealWorldReview Huh. When I tried, the bits completely get shrouded in the deep holes of the Nunchuck, as for the Pro Controller, the screwdriver just doesn't seem to reach all the way to those battery compartment screws. I wound up having to use pliers and just the bit to open it up.
"sure they do break..." - completely neglects to mention every tool in the kit is covered with the lifetime warranty. ifixit will replace any broken tool for the length of time you own it.
interesting part is the score percentage and cost input. however, review? more like overview and/or comparison. with a title like "real world review" i expected a review of your uses with it. gave you my thumb up though.
Thanks for the feedback! I am trying to structure the product reviews to be more of reviews rather than being an overview of the product. I didn't want to make the video too long, but I realize now that that would be a better idea. As for the score and cost, that is based on my person opinion (obviously) and the uses for the kit. Personally I value the bits more than the extra tools, that's why I like the Universal Bit kit better, but that one does not come with the extra tools and costs $40 more. All depends on your setup and what types of repairs you're doing. I would say that this kit is geared more towards people that need to do repairs on the go, rather than at a desk.

I’m teaching myself how to repair phones & I’m excited to get started! Just ordered the pro tech toolkit. Thanks for the review!
How’s it been going for you?
Honestly the screwdriver thing is the best thing I have ever used. I love the top that spins and I like that it doesn’t turn into bayblade when my fingers fly off of it
Yes! The top spinning is such a small thing that is so important!
Thanks for the disclaimer. I appreciate the honesty and it makes me trust your reviews more.
Best review of this product I've ever seen.
Thank you! I am hoping to make more product reviews soon!
No it's not. The volume level of this video is too low, but rest is very good.

I got this kit for Christmas, and I like it so far.
That's awesome!
Who doesn't like free stuff :D
You mention there being better kits. What are they?
out of respect for ifixit, i dont think he will mention it. its a nice review tho. thumbs up
exactly what i was gonna ask
@@scafT he said "nicer," not "better," yes there is a difference
@@fakename287 no there isnt
@@richk1445 yes there is
Nicer: higher quality, substantial weight
Better: more bits, best bang for your buck, gets the job done, etc
Great review but what are the nicer kits?

1:42 That's a Nexus 5. Best smartphone that ever existed ♥️
agreed!
Thanks for the awesome review!
Yes! Thanks for the kit! I hope to have more iFixit reviews up in the coming months!
That’s how you do reviews! Proper one. Thank you.
Mate I struggle with getting it closed neatly too! Drives me mad because I swear it arrived perfectly closed!
It is crazy. Even the old one seems to be the same way.
Good video, to the point and no BS. Perfect
Finally I got one for myself just yesterday ;)
"I cut myself 2 and i dont even use it" lol..

3:51 i wouldn't be surprised if knives tend to be more dangerous outside of use, although maybe that one shouldn't be all that sharp
Are the bits magnetic to lift screws?
Yep! I think it's in the driver though
Almost all kits like this are magnetic...Even twenty dollar ones.

Can you use this on Your table as well? I mean I need it for my pc and phone as well,. but still I am getting a New table, thanks for answering :D
Depends on what you need, but I think so! I tightened a chair with a similar kit yesterday lol
I tightened my stool with one of the hex bits, worked like a charm.

Never heard of this guy, him first minute of the video "trust me"... haha.
Thanks bro. I need to know what to spend money on. I want to repair my overheating phone. iPhone 6
Sounds like it's the battery

I was under the impression that ABS is more durable for dropping when compared to polycarbonate.

Not sure about the virtual boy but I’ve used this kit to open those other 2 examples. Just used the Y00 on the Nunchuck

Yes there is

ifixit didn't send me any tool kit.
Lame
Good day! I have a question about this set. Can I open a PS4 pro with this toolkit? OR do I need the repair business set? Thanks!
It looks like you should be able to use this kit. iFixit has a repair guide for it on their website
the biggest downside of this kit compared to the old one is the lack of that hole in the screwdriver that allows you to apply more torque
Yes! I miss that feature! Well I never really used it, but I like that driver better than this one.
It has flatted areas on the grip section. Use a spanner to apply the extra torque.
Wera Kraftform has quality sets, but is a little more pricier.
Where is you universal kit review?
They are not for sale anymore 😔
how can i get such a toolkit in my country (kenya)
The only issue is price. You can find the same thing for $15

@AdamiXx I’ve had mine for 4 years. Literally the same thing with a different name. A lot of Amazon off brands are surprisingly good.
@AdamiXx the brand was called “womice”. I just looked on my purchase history on Amazon and it wasn’t available anymore.
It seems that Americans prefer this over Chinese tools for some reasons...
