    Honestly the screwdriver thing is the best thing I have ever used. I love the top that spins and I like that it doesn’t turn into bayblade when my fingers fly off of it

    I just received my Pro Tech kit from iFixit yesterday and am now seeing this video today (without searching it out) on my recommended viewing list. Thanks for the nice review. I'm looking forward to putting this kit through its paces.

    I have the old driver set (the one with the clear plastic lid). What I wish they'd kept is the hole in the handle so you can stick a bar through and really be able to torque a screw loose. This is the main reason I still have the handle and short extension from the old set, it turns your hex bits into ersatz T wrenches. It may not be a great replacement for proper T wrenches, but I was able to free a couple of stubborn M5 bolts using it.

      just look at customer reviews for different brands. You can find certain cheap toolkits that will work just as good..I would get a driver that is electric or powered by battery. Much faster.

    There are actually two "versions" of the second generation Pro Tech Toolkit. The main difference is that the second "version" contains the iPhone Standoff bit. The first "version" didn't come with the Standoff bit but was instead the "Square" bit. I noticed mines didn't have the Standoff bit so I had to purchase another one lol

    Giving 9 out of 10 on a case made of ABS (look at 02:52) is way too generous. I understand most people won't be tossing it around, yet polycarbonate/fibre reinforced would be proper 9. Also I'd have liked to see a test on the metal with a file (for hardness)

    • @RealWorldReview
      @RealWorldReview  Před 4 lety

      I was under the impression that ABS is more durable for dropping when compared to polycarbonate.

    • @stanimir4197
      @stanimir4197 Před 4 lety

      @@RealWorldReview ABS is pretty much the cheapest hard plastic and easiest to mold. For instance check luggage case made of ABS vs polycarbonate (and esp. the glass fiber reinforced ones). Overall if you see ABS cases, the tool is cheap, it can have really fancy details too as it's cheap&easy to mold.

    Honestly, I love the iFixit Toolkit, but the only gripe I have, is that I can't open up Wii Nunchucks, Nintendo Switch Pro Controllers, and possibly, not even Virtual Boys. But those are niche to open up, now aren't they?

    • @RealWorldReview
      @RealWorldReview  Před 4 lety

      Not sure about the virtual boy but I’ve used this kit to open those other 2 examples. Just used the Y00 on the Nunchuck

    • @MetalPopka
      @MetalPopka Před 4 lety

      @@RealWorldReview Huh. When I tried, the bits completely get shrouded in the deep holes of the Nunchuck, as for the Pro Controller, the screwdriver just doesn't seem to reach all the way to those battery compartment screws. I wound up having to use pliers and just the bit to open it up.

    interesting part is the score percentage and cost input. however, review? more like overview and/or comparison. with a title like "real world review" i expected a review of your uses with it. gave you my thumb up though.

    • @RealWorldReview
      @RealWorldReview  Před 6 lety +2

      Thanks for the feedback! I am trying to structure the product reviews to be more of reviews rather than being an overview of the product. I didn't want to make the video too long, but I realize now that that would be a better idea. As for the score and cost, that is based on my person opinion (obviously) and the uses for the kit. Personally I value the bits more than the extra tools, that's why I like the Universal Bit kit better, but that one does not come with the extra tools and costs $40 more. All depends on your setup and what types of repairs you're doing. I would say that this kit is geared more towards people that need to do repairs on the go, rather than at a desk.
