    Great explanation!!
I'm still working on it, merging flaka and ponch (Throwing the mast to much into the water!!!!)
So your explanation with trying upwind 360 but with a start in downwind position is a great idea!!!
Also, i think it's important to say that you have to extent your front leg, in order to put the rail in water (And not the nose...)
I often "sink" the nose with a big crash in the sail...

Don't we have to be good at the 360 upwind with our feet in the footstraps before trying the flaka?

      thanks for the message
Up wind 360s in the straps is a good skill to learn for this. however, Personally I think learning up wind 360 out the straps is more important to learn about the rig control. It will foce the rider to be more precise.
I know many riders who can 360 in the straps but can not do it consistently out of the straps. This is because they are relying on the footstrap to hold on and attach th to the board. Rather than learning the correct control and timing needed for doing them strapless.
In the best case you should learn to be consistent with both methods.
Strapless will teach you sail control and timing.
With Straps will help you learn balance through using mast pressure while you are in unusual positions on the back of the board.

Thanks for the video. The Flaka is causing me a headache. Not sure why but this move is really really hard for me. I have no problems with Upwind 360's and the occasional Taka in small waves when it is side-onshore. But I feel like my board is "glued" to the water and does not want jump when trying a Flaka in flat water. If I get it to jump it is not enough and I just break my fins loose and end up with a sloooow sliding upwind 360.

The flaka can be a tricky move to learn. If you are having trouble jumping the board it could be a few reasons. Make sure you have lots of speed otherwise the board will not want to take off. Just before take off make sure the board is flat on the water and not on the rail/edge.
I hope this helps but it is hard to identify what you need to do with out seeing you try.
      Keep trying and good luck.
P.s. Maybe join us on a coaching week in 2016 to work on this flaka.
      :)

Gave it a few good tries today.
I was indeed subconsciously slowing down before the jump. We'll call that commitment issues. Never thought of the Flaka as a "full commitment move". I was wrong!
I also paid close attention to the "step-over" (over and around as you call it in the video) once the board was in the air. Thinking of it as a step over (over and around) is a big help. No other tutorials I've seen call it that. But that really is what is going on and made me bring my back leg further up.
      Brilliant!!! Thanks a ton!
