- Having collected Americana for over 30 years, the day came when Robert Strauss and Steven Stout decided to pivot. They began searching for an English or Dutch brass curfew for keeping embers in the fireplace hot overnight, and a delft punch bowl strainer made of treen, a unique survivor used to rid the punch of seeds and sediment before drinking. Searching for these two gems took nearly a year to find. But while searching, their eyes were opened to the world of American and English Pilgrim furnishings and accessories. This new world invigorated them more than they ever thought it might. Over the past two years they found themselves searching to find survivors from the 16th, 17th, and early 18th centuries. They describe this new passion as the meeting of “early American colony” with that of “English Pilgrim “.
