- Today I did a hot and humid threshold session, it was pretty hard going! The session was 7*1 mile off a turn around time of 6m30s, so for example if you complete the mile in 5m15 you get 75s recovery.
After the session I went into the NAS recovery suite to help recover for the next session.
Massive thanks to Sherif Sami for putting the video together. Find more of his work @ www.flickr.com/photos/9768838....
Awesome brownies from the end by 'Explore the Palate', check them out if you're in Dubai: / explorethepalate - Sport
I was hoping the T shirt came off anyway, looking shredded AF!
Cheers Joe. Just making notes on how I can copy the recovery at home. So that’s dry ice in the bedroom, Pan steam in the kitchen... got this.
Keep them coming! Awesome video!
Awesome training + recovery. Thanks to share 👍
Great vid! Awesome facilities. Awesome workout.
Great inside view of the facilities. Thank you for the footage.
Looking strong Joe, awesome facilities there
What a place to be training! Looking strong Joe can’t wait to see you racing
Thanks guys
instablaster...
What an awesome gym to be training at. That recovery routine is awesome. Can’t wait to see you at IMTX.
It's quite a nice official start and finish line! Great notes thanks for sharing all of that. That magnesium bath is incredible!
Awesome Joe. Those facilities 😍
You look fit dude 😎
Great videos and content Joe! Good luck in Texas tomorrow!
You can't imagine how motivating it is just to watch you run and tick off those miles. Made my own intervals later in the day easier, but also harder because I was able to push myself having watched you push yourself. Thank you!
Some of the best facilities on the planet and Sheik Hamdan had personal input into the set up at NAS. Glad you're enjoying Dubai Joe !!
Perfect training, amazing facilities, super video!!! GO GO GOOO Joe!!! Giuseppe
Thanks mate.
Great stuff Joe .. spent a lot of time in the UAE and the facilities are second to none..
Quality Joe. Great content
Thanks mate.
Looking strong Joe!
Awesome, love your Videos 💪🏽
Thanks
Great videos Joe - especially like how you are going in depth on what you're doing in the sessions - strides in warm up, etc. Taking it into my own training. Cheers.
Nice one, hope it helps.
Great video 👍 good luck 🥇👌
What a fantastic facility, must be brilliant training out there, missing the British winter. Good luck for IM Texas
Great workout! The videographer is excellent...the track footage was well shot! Very nice!
Yeah he’s awesome. Sherif is his name and he’s based in Dubai as well.
Just subscribed. Really envy runners and endurance athletes now. Wasted my time watching pro sports. This is so much better
Awesome video mate, can't wait to train in a bit now.
Thanks mate and hope you had a good session.
recovery paradise.
Looking in fantastic form keep it up for kona dude and don't get injured
Doing a ace job Joe. Well done for sticking it out. The facilities look great but I'd have to hop on a plane for first hand research 😃. Your run sessions are an inspiration. Best job in the world 👍
You arn't missing anything here anyway. I heard your dogs agree. Fing excited for you
Facilities look absolutely awesome.and you only get out what you put in and it seems as though you are putting plenty in joe 👍
Thanks mate, definitely doing all I can to get myself in top shape for this year.
Great video 👍🏻
Inspirational as ever Joeboy. Looking forward to hopefully running 5k at the UEA track with you this summer. I'm working hard on my speed endurance right now, hoping to get 18mins.
Yeah definitely mate, if there’s a lack of races we will organise another track series so make sure you keep the training up!
Dubai and NAS look amazing! Maybe someday we will add it to our travel list. That cold chamber looks crazy but incredible at the same time. Would love to try that! You handled it like a champ. 😂
Awesome training video joe a bit different to those flood lit cold nights at Eaton park 😂
Looking 💪🏻 . Real 💪🏻
Thanks
Keep it up. Texas 70.3 now. I was looking at a job over there with McLaren.
When the sunglasses come off = Hammer Time 🔨
For sure mate! 👍💪👌
Mega video. I love the bit where you casually each into an iced cool box with a crate of chilled water likes its perfectly normal, whilst we trudge round Norfolk in the dark shivering 🤣🤣
Thanks mate, I’ve seen the weather back home in Norwich at the moment. 18c and sunny, basically the same as Dubai! 😊
@@joeskipper91 come to think of it, it does look very similar & my walk in freezer is like the first Cryo room too!
When the shirt came off 🤩😍🔥😍😍😍😍😍
That place is over the top. just awesome . Wish I had something like that in my neck of the woods. But I probably wouldn't be able to afford it. Great video though. Mmm brownies
Yeah it’s actually the Princes private gym, Some gym eh!
-110 degrees, holy crap! Respect for the work you put in, very admirable! Why exactly does that coldness help you sleep better? In any case looking forward for more content so that i can improve my own training as well!
Good job! Totally know the feeling of having to go harder because you're filming/being filmed hahaha - good motivation though!
Great video Joe. I’m a new subscriber to your channel and looking forward to following your progress through the season.
The facilities at NAS look incredible. An elite athletes dream.
I have a quick question. On your 7 x 1 mile session, how long do you recover between each rep.
Look forward to the next video. Keep up the great work. 👍
That chest wax you've had probably helped with those times too Joe! Where was that video 🤣? Awesome stuff bro.
LOL loved the prologue
Harry get that flight booked for next year 😂
He certainly should do!
Nice Joe....😎
its hot over here this year ... more than usual. but the humidity is always around lol. I wish we had the same facilities here in Abu Dhabi
I was really intrigued knowing it was Nad el Sheba - i played night golf there in 2001. I think inside a horse racing track. It seems to have evolved
All kinds of things in there, zoo, horse racing, camel racing. I didn’t actually know there was golf there but it doesn’t surprise me.
Great video, thanks for sharing. Recovery game is pretty strong there at NAS. Main question, what sun glasses are you wearing during the run?
The Hamburger Helper gloves are legit
Hi guys! Thanks.
Really enjoying your videos Joe. I'd be interested to know more about your nutrition and how you fuel for and recover from harder training days. For example do you follow a lower carb/higher fat approach?
I’m high carb mate, I don’t follow a nutrition plan but do try and eat a healthy well balanced diet. And anyone will tell you I’ll never turn a beer down on the weekend!
Just found and subbed.
Great workout man¡¡ what do you think about doing form drills as part of the warm up? I warm up just like you, easy running plus strides, cheers¡
They are a great idea. We did them all the time in Perth and if you can do them they are definitely worth it.
serious stuff here
So quiet there - does no-one else use this facility?? Great vid Joe
They keep it quiet on purpose mate. That’s all part of the exclusivity with it! I did see Will smith in the changing rooms after shooting this though.
@@joeskipper91 ha - that's pretty cool - did he ask for your autograph ;-)
@@FuerteBici he knew it’s not the right thing to do there.
Could you make a video on your stretching routine, if you have one?
I normally just to stretches before some sessions but there’s not a massive amount to it really. Just the basic ones.
Bloody hell, Joey big time has even bagged himself someone to hold the stopwatch these days!
Thought it would help him pass the time! 😊
@@joeskipper91 looks amazing. You probably end up going back in the future you think?
@@joeskipper91 always thinking of the help, such a kind soul ol’ Joe :-)
Awesome video! Why don't you use the Rocket X? Do you prefer the Carbon x2?
I use both mate and I’m not sure which I’ll use for an Ironman at the moment. I think rocket X is faster for shorter efforts but the X2 is good for threshold efforts and really cushions it so your legs don’t feel as beat up.
thanks joe.....
do you have same recovery plan but cheaper ?
giant cryo fridge are out of stock in my city.
Should title the video, "NAS is like"
Just train in England mate. You can sit outside for 5 minutes! 😊
Tips and workout for 1 mile in 5 minutes.
Please upload a video.
Thanks 🙏🙏❤️❤️
Check out tinman elite you tube channel, and the athlete special. Those guys are milers and 5k runners and you’ll get lots of tips and workouts from there videos.
@@joeskipper91 ok
Looks like you have the entire place to yourself Joe.
Joe for the win at Worlds in May, Lucy to win ladies.
Very nice video and awesome workout/recovery! (and tanlines of course)
Just a quick question for the recovery part: As far as I know, theres a study which shows, that treatments like ice baths after every hard /or most hard workouts will negatively affect the increase of the VO2max. Do you keep that in mind, like its only part of the race tappering and not an everyday training treatment?
i love the micky mouse gloves :-D
Ha ha I know. -110 you definitely need them.
Joe,
Are you ever concerned with being too lean early in the season? The advice I've read from some of the older triathletes like Mark Allen say you should make sure you're not getting too light early on to help avoid injury or burnout before your key races
Curious to hear your thoughts
Mate being two lean is never a problem I’ve had to worry about before! But yeah I would say if you are getting two light or lean then you are definitely at higher risk of getting an injury or Ill.
@@joeskipper91 haha thanks for the reply. Looking forward to watching you crush it this season!
this center is open to the public ?
How much does it cost for exclusive access to a multi-million dollar facility. You appear to be the only man there !!!
Half the world is in dubai currently
They were but since I’ve been out here they have gradually been flying back home! 😊
how fast could you run 2 miles in?? that's flying!
Not sure mate.
Hi Joe, may I know how much does it cost to do all that you did in NAS Centre.
They are actually free to use.
@@joeskipper91 is it free for all or pro runners only?
@@poshgurung2906 it’s free but you have to have permission to use it.
I can do the same times for a KM, I mean 05:15 min/km :)
Dude! Need more videos :) Are you alive?
Joe, Im currently training for a standard distance duathlon (10km run, 40km cycle, 5km run) Im a strong cyclist but a poor runner, however I am improving. currently Im alternating between long-ish runs (for me) between 7-10kms at about a mid 11kph and shorter runs between 3-6kms at a slightly higher pace, roughly mid 13kph. in your experience, what would you suggest to focus on more for a relative rookie like myself. TIA..
Is that an 8k camera?
Think it’s 4K camera. But I think he’s shooting in 2.7k.
@@joeskipper91 it looks awesome 👌
If you don’t mind me asking, roughly what percentage body fat do you have?
I'd say about 8%
Before or after a big weekend on the beers? 😂
@@joeskipper91 before😂😂
Don’t you stretch post workout?
Not really mate. The odd little one but nothing much. But probably could do with doing more.
Stop picking on our HP 😂😂
I love him really! 😊
@@joeskipper91 you’re only saying that because you don’t have any more friends out there, they’ve all left you and returned back to this cold and now windy country.....lol 😂😂
I wouldn’t get annoyed...I need a husband like Joe 😂
