  • During winters the attic roof space is much hotter than the house. Here is an idea how to get use of this free heat, that normally would be lost anyway.
I used materials that I had lying around and it cost me only time.
If you want to do something similar I would suggest to start with getting the right fan. If you can find something that is quiet yet powerful and does not consume too much electricity it would be a great start. It is also important to have insulation on the ceiling otherwise your heat will get lost back through the ceiling.

    Great Idea!
Does it bring dirt, dust, insulation debris, bugs and bats into the house? That would be my concern. We already have a house fan, it would be nice to reverse it in the winter.

So far not any issues. Good idea would be to put a fine mesh at the top to prevent bats… and the filter I have at the exit prevents bugs and dust . It is a piece of plastic insulation that is hairy that I can wash from timd to time.
