I also examined my resentment and came to realize that it wasn't the other person or family member, but myself I was angry with. I discovered my anger and resentment had to do with me letting myself be treated the way I was treated, allowing it to continue for many years. I once held the belief that forgiveness meant reconciliation with that person or persons. At 66, I'm alone with my wife. We cherish each other deeply. The friends I once had are a distant memory. Even my immediate and extended family members no longer exist in my life, and I'm happy and content. Thank you for this.

Living with the understanding that we can get past experiences that cause us pain and anxiety in moving forward with our lives and using the hurts to learn from and to put our energies into the process of learning from the experience and understanding that the actions that have contributed to this frustration, difficulty, disappointment and pain are not about how I choose to be and that I am stronger in my life as I learn to be more confident and balanced in my own life from the experience. To bless the power of love in my heart to be able to know that the truth is that I am free to be joyous in my own energies. It is that person's life and learning that is not up to me to endure or solve. It's a life that you have the power to create where you put your time into and bless their moving forward with out losing your own path and being present in love and joy. Release them from your mind and get on with your own life and learn from the experience. Staying in the attitude towards removing yourself from whatever is not kindness and understanding..
Peace and compassion for all people. Realize that we all make mistakes and discern what you think about the situation at hand. No resentment and just seeing what you want to be around and expose yourself to. Move on and don't give it energy. Be love and respect your truth.

When I am angry about another person then I am actually angry about myself because I cared insufficiently for my own.

Really really powerful and insightful & 100% accurate about the inner process of forgiving. It's even life saving thank you, thank you🙏...I know I need to forgive others & myself but am struggling with myself & what I allowed myself to be manipulated into doing & being. Out of my neediness, naivete & vulnerability.
I feel that the person/ identity that I felt I was, was taken so much advantage of which has created resentment & a lot of suffering. The worst is my anger at myself for not being strong enough to walk away from 'being used' sooner....looking back though I see my family of origin has no real sense of self worth its all ego and bullying & status with pecking orders...ugly ugly stuff...so it's easy to see why I was easy prey to a 'taker'....& why it was hard to gain the necessary insight into what was done to me & what I did to myself
The understanding is crucial...you're so right...no one that I've listened to for help with the need to forgive explains it as well as you have...👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Do put this in a book as another person suggests if you feel so inclined...I reckon it's a direly needed message...all blessings & love to you &thanks for your recovery & shares 🙏❤🧡

I think a lot of my resentment about my family stems from not being able to see them as they really are and it taking so long to piece everything together. I so wanted them to be good people that i turned a blind eye to all the red flags until they were coming so thick and fast i couldn't ignore the toxicity anymore.

This is a huge issue in the spiritual journey. If you are not on that journey, you cannot understand. This is real explanation of ‘karma’. Changing blue prints, patterns, taught behaviors. Figuring this out for years now,and still couldn’t grab the last piece of it.
Years ago I did a lot of deep forgiving, but it shows we still need to work on it because it comes back all the time. The triggers of the ego come by when situations arise. Pretty tricky, because you see it,you know it. I realized, because of this process I was blaming myself probably. You forgive others, but the most important part is to forgive yourself. If you don’t,forgiving others can create an inside lack of boundaries. I even didn’t want to cause pain on people who deliberately hurt me. Also knowing these people show up because of you learning your lessons. Now I finally know it works both ways,if they choose not to forgive you (thus not themselves) it’s their part. Its their wound, but you have to work on yours. Thank you so much for this ✨🕊

I prefer to be alone many times over being the subject of 'love bombing' and other toxic manipulative behavior. I leave and it's okay with me to be with myself.

It always causes trouble and destress. Especially amongst women. On the upside, it won't last for ever.

To tell them 'its okay' basically lets them off the hook so they can go on, absolved and care free. Why would you do that? Even if you do come to some level of forgiveness, why give them the benefit of that release, especially as all the effort and grief has been on your side. Letting go of your resentment to benefit your own well being is the best thing you can do. But see toxic people for what they are and stay well clear is the sensible thing to do. If they've craped on you once, they'll do it again and in the long run they'll end up lonely as others figure them out, and perhaps being alone is what they need to be evolve.
I think its important to realise that the only person you are responsible for is yourself. All the time you feel you have to be responsible for the evolution of others and telling them 'its okay' to help them feel better, you are harming yourself and not helping them. Give then nothing. Do not acknowledge forgiveness or anger that they can see. Go grey rock. No emotion. No nothing. That's how you deal with toxic people...

Perennial. The words are so small and common, to forgive. But here in my little world is the answer to your question, "what is enlightenment?". We begrudgingly condescend to tolerate a mistake but do we let it go? But what of ourselves and our absent God. To forgive is to let go the blocks to love. What of our self fear? What of our sense that life is unfair and God is evil or perhaps there is no such Being, no safety no free lunch. Can we say that to forgive is the same as surrendering or awakening? I am looking for a love so big it can forgive all the evil in the world.

I was verbally abused by a rude racist woman ( someone I dont know thankfully!) but the anger I feel is really hurting me. It’s really hurting me...

I am having the hardest time forgiving my youngest, for selling my land that was suppose to stay in our family. The topper was coming 500 miles to take back the car she gave me. I raised her youngest but he now lives with her. Im done with her. I do want to run far far away from her. I fall into her trap everytime. Why she wants to hurt me so bad is a mystery to me but Im so done with her.

@@WVSCROUNGER thanks. I feel relieved. I was doing a exercise that wanted me to bring all that was borhering me to surface. This was a result of that. Its not until I let go of it, that I can move forward. I feel today, I can forgive and move forward.
