- An Oakland County sheriff’s deputy, a 9-year veteran named Reckling, was fatally shot while tracking a stolen car in Detroit in what authorities described as an ambush. Two of the suspects believed to be involved were previously free on bond, having been charged in March with fleeing and eluding and carrying a concealed weapon.
