That's how I put chains on for the most part, but then I use 3 bungees, too, per chain. They help a lot.

Welp, i wish i would've practiced chaining. I threw my back out trying to lift my chains to chain just now.

Tightening camlocks...start at the bottom. Duh.

I would prefer having chains on the front axles :). Nice packing technique, handy for the next time when needed. 👍

It all depends on your specific situation and equipment.
If I only have a single trailer I do the rear axel because it is easier to install and the diff is cheaper should it brake.
With super Bs I do both axels and a steer (unless I am in a straight road with hills. If there are tight turns I will chain one steer if I have to do both drive axels).
The reason I avoid chaining the front axel is because of the extra shock in the drivetrain and the front axel is more expensive to fix, and also because it is harder to turn tight curves and corners - and we chain-up when roads are slick.
Aniway - the final decision is done based on the equipment, road and weather conditions and customer requirements. I've had to chain-up two drives and a steer in perfect road conditions due to customer policy.

Why do trainers choose to be lazy on instructional videos? Throw a set of triples since you Are in a nice warm shop. Imho
Ive shown highway haulers how the hooks work. Should have zoomed in on that part.
    Camlocks not turnbuckles.

It's easy to do this in a warm shop, let's see them do this outside on a snowy grade like Kootenay Pass. A lot different

@@CanadiantubemasterI won't watch. If they are doing singles they don' know what they are doing.
I've wasted too much time watching those "tutorials". The drivers that know what they are doing don't waste their time doing videos - they simply chain-up and go produce!

Didn't even do the right axle. And should pull forward when possible

    Don't chain....easy

Heyl company policy does not require drivers to chain up unless the state they are running through has a chain law in effect. Drivers at some other companies however aren't that lucky and are required to chain up no matter what!

back up on a tapered block on the inner tire....that way you can position the chain on the tire better....ive got 2 custom 4x4 blocks just for that.....
