  • In this video, we take on a tough rescue mission-a rusted-out 1967 Lincoln Continental convertible with a destroyed top and almost no usable parts left. We picked up this Lincoln as a parts car for one crucial piece: its rare C6 transmission with a unique slanted bellhousing, perfect for restoring our 1969 Lincoln Continental.
The catch? All four drum brakes on this car are seized, making it impossible to roll. After some failed attempts to free them, we resort to dragging the car back to our shop with our F350, creating a symphony of screeches along the way. Join us as we tackle this rust bucket to salvage the transmission we need!

What do you all think of our new Continental? Should it stay a parts car or should we do something else with it after we donate the powertrain to our '69 Continental?

I am sure that by now you have discovered the 460 and 462 have different bellhousing bolt patterns.

I may be mistaken, so don't take my word for it, but the early 460 motors are supposed to have the holes for both the 460 and 462 bolt patterns.

There are only a handful of people in the country who work on those tops because they are super complicated

That's what we've heard. I'm all for a challenge, but we didn't even try tampering with the top. We did, however, have success jumping the relay to get the trunk lid open, which surprisingly still worked! We recently traded this Lincoln to someone who had more use for the convertible parts. We ended up trading for a 1970 Lincoln Mark III with a 460. A much better donor engine to revive our '69 Continental.
