Other comments forgotten to mention that Benjamin Orr is the singer of this classic not Rick Ocasek. Ben died in 2000 of pancreatic cancer at the age of 53. This video from 1984's concert brings memories to me when I was 20 years old.

Hey guys. I saw them play in Toronto in the inaugural tour for their first album. The whole album is dope. I suggest you listen to the whole thing. I think you will really like it.
As a Gen X'er (I'm 49), I grew up listening to The Cars and have always been a fan. This song was also in the movie "Fast Times At ridgemont High", and in that movie, it was playing in a particular scene that I will never forget. You might want to do a reaction video to that movie, it's a classic. Hello from northeast Ohio.
A little FYI about the girl in the bikini taking off her top. It comes from a classic scene in the 1982 movie Fast Times at Ridgemont High where the girl is emerging from a pool in a dream sequence wearing a bikini and she removes her top as she approaches the camera. That scene launched this song into the stratosphere overnight.

My mom ran into The Cars eating lunch in a famous Chinese restaurant Joyce Chen here in Cambridge, MA; thought they looked cool/might be famous, ended asking Elliot Easton for his autograph for my brother lol

When I was a kid in the 80s, we all knew this song because that's what was playing when Phoebe Cates took her top off in Fast Times At Ridgemont High.

They were so good rock radio wasn’t sure how to promote them because they were not hard rock they were not pop/alt so boom New Wave was born. Shows what a sham the rock hall of fame is considering these guys didn’t make it in until 2018. 18 years after Ben had passed and 1 year before Otcasek passed. I would get in arguments with my coworkers when we discussed rock hall of fame because I thought it was absolutely criminal they didn’t get inducted until so late.
