    I have been working on a similar catalog for weeks, doing a few hours when I feel like it. I am almost done now. I store my stamps in clear pockets, with a white piece of paper behind them so I can read them. The magnet sheets are behind them with the dies. I make a copy of the stamps, and/or dies, right on my copy machine, and put them in the binder by manufacturer. I can put notations such as, "with dies." I have some colored circle stickers, and when the stamp is cataloged, I put the sticker on the envelope. For example, teal is Lawn Fawn because they come in teal packages. I also have a sentiments section in my binder, and stamp most needed sentiments, such as happy birthday, on those pages and note what stamp set it is in so I can find it quickly. This has been a ton of work, but I have found things that I have forgotten I had, and now I can find things easily. It is nice to be able to sit in my recliner and flip thru my catalog, when a birthday is coming up, and decide what stamps I want to use. I like having my stuff organized by manufacturer, but I keep "basic shapes," such as circles, squares, and rectangles, together, for quick choices. Now I am getting a few foiling pieces, and slimline dies, so I need more categories. I store all this in the office/craft room in the closet in bins. My husband cuts sheets of plexiglass into dividers for me when I need them, and I use a labeler to label every envelope. I put large labels on the front of the bins so I can grab the bin I need easily. It was getting hard to find what I needed so I think this will be worth the effort. Thanks so much for the ideas and instructions you have given! I hope this info helps someone else!

    I have a couple of small sets of tiny stamps for using in a planner/calendar.
    I rarely used them because we all know what a pain those acetate sheets are and the cellophane sleeves that split down the side.🤷🏻‍♀️
    But I did want to start using them, so about a month ago, I came up with (what I thought was) a brilliant idea!💡
    CD cases! What a genius I am. Seriously, I felt like I had invented sliced bread.🍞😄
    And I was so happy when I saw that I could put stamps on both sides of the case.
    Two CD cases, kept next to my planner along with a few colors of stamp pads. Done!
    I'm still happy that I came with the solution on my own, and I'm happy that others have been using it for YEARS!😁👍🏻

    I used to track my stamps and dies this way until I started to get rid of stamps and dies I no longer wanted. I plan to go back to this method now that there are stamps and dies I plan to keep forever. It is definitely a time saver to go through notebook instead of flipping through products. This is exactly how I store my stamps and dies but I use a different container. I found a place that sells the plastic containers like Stampin’ Up! uses and I purchased like 600 of them. Because I have over 3000. Because I have so many I will store more than one stamp set in each container. I also have the pictures them in binders but I have about nine binders and I am finding it hard to find what I’m looking for. think maybe I just need to organize them a little better in my binders. I’m gonna go over to your blog to see what titles you have. Thank you so much for this. I’m hoping it will help.

    I just found this video as I was looking for a better way to catalog my stamps. It takes me forever to find a specific stamp (like a sentiment), and then I sometimes miss out on using a better one. What's frustrating is the variety in each stamp set that could go into multiple categories. For now, I just use the current SU catalog to find what I need, but I have tons of retired sets and other company's stamps that need a better system. Thanks for sharing your system!

    Very organized I keep my dies and stamps sets together in flowers, holidays,Christmas and butterflies to name a few. My dies I cut out each set so I see what the die does. Then I have a folder to put that set of dies in so if I need a for example shape I have a book that I have all my shapes in find what I want to use then go to my shape folder and get the die. This has been the best for me and I love reinventing the wheel so I have had a lot of different was to store things.

    Your storage technique is very similar to how I have stored many of my products.. when I started stamping in 1990 I stamped off all my stamps on card stock and created a catalogue.. I have ceased to do that however you have stirred my interest in revisiting that . I like your colour code idea very much. I already have my stampin up dies in with my stamps but what drives me crazy is sentiments are so difficult to organize. I don’t want to separate my sets but perhaps you have ideas to organize/ catalogue/ categorize them. Thanks for your input on this. 😄

    • @sharondipity152
      @sharondipity152 Před 2 lety

      Hi Wanda. For an easy search of sentiments you could create a spreadsheet in Excel. Make one column for the sentiments (either spelled all the way out, like "happy birthday" or shortened to "birthday") and one column for the name of the set it came with. Or, there's a software program called Evernote you might like. If you search Evernote stamps here on CZcams there are a handful of really good videos to guide you. I hope that helps, and good luck on your organizing journey!

    QUESTIONS, INKY FINGERS … at o.d. 4:27 you showed us that you removed the COVER ACETATE from your stamp packets, and I see they’re definitely larger than a CD case, sooo … does that mean you totally split up the “SETS”? Or just repackaged them in whatever number of cases were needed to store them? ALSO, have you ever had an issue - after removing “A CLEAR STAMP” from its acetate top sheet - where it absolutely refused to adhere to a stamping block or stamperatus? I have been absolutely loath to pull them off those sheets, because I HAVE had that issue (with a couple of “silicone” stamps 😱😫😫🤬) and am now inclined to leave them attached, cut around them for use, and use repositionable double-sided tape runner to get me through the stamping process. Should you see this and respond, I thank you in advance. Be well!

    • @_MyInkieFingers
      @_MyInkieFingers  Před 6 měsíci +3

      Hello @kkrolf2782 The stamp inserts are certainly larger than the CD Case. However, for clear stamps they go on the inside of the cover, and also where the CD would have lived. I removed all the hardware for the CD Housing, so essentially I had a 'larger surface' to place all my stamps. In answer to your second question about trouble removing clear stamps from the acetate or the CD case, YES!! This is because they are cheap quality stamps. Arcylic or silicone stamps. I steer clear of them today (AliExpress, Wish, & Temu - if you see clear stamps on those sites, they are cheap! Buy at your own risk) In order to solve the issue I paint on a thin layer of Aleene's Tack It Over & Over on the back of the stamp (once I've won the war and got it off of the surface it seems to have become one with). Let that dry COMPLETELY (it will appear invisible) not you have created a tacky surface that will allow you to use the stamp. It will eventually peel off of acrylic or silicone, but works wonders to re-stick the foam layer on Red Rubber. Phew, that was a mouthful. I hope this helps! If it helps anyone else give it a thumbs up. If it's gets enough thumbs up I'll do a video about it.

However, do you know of a way to put a the individual stamps in multiple places (i.e. birthday sentiment with birthday and celebration).Curious how you would approach that to find a sentiment. I am so frustrated to go thru all my cases to find the sentiment that I want. Thank you for your suggestion.

    • @_MyInkieFingers
      @_MyInkieFingers  Před rokem +1

      I find most sets are themed. Therefore Birthday sentiments would be in the Birthday themed set which I would out under birthday. For sentiment sets that are assorted I out them in the 'sentiments' section. I hope this helps. 😊💗

    So it appears u store stamps/dies without regard for the “set” they may come in? Historically I stored all sets intact BUT now I have growing problem searching, for example, all options I may have for “Happy Birthday” dies, stamps because so many sets include that. In other words, thinking about disregard for sets that could be donated or sold intact down the road, and instead removing all “Happy Birthday” options into a “Happy Birthday” container/notebook. Obviously a big job for all sentiments, leaves, plants, animals, and on and on…but in the end worth it? Your thoughts?

    I have a problem with a lot of my non stamping up stamps. I typically store in the photo storage cases and sometimes my stamps are either melted or dried out and hard?? Why is this do you think it is the cases that I am storing them in, it seems to happen particularly to stamps that come free with a magazine purchase and I have had it happen once to a crafters companion stamp however I have never had a problem with stamp in up stamps and obviously red rubber.

      It could be a variety of issues. The way the were cared for and cleaned. Proper cleaner is needed to prolong the life of your stamps. Environment. Do not store is hot areas. Near registers or furnace outlets. The quality of the stamps... there are a lot of factors. The case is not the issue. 😉
