I had a little oven like that, about 1958, you put small tablets under where the pan would be that my Dad would light for me & in my small frying pan I would cook bacon & I boiled water,we had no fear in the 50’s!
My mother also had that kind of oven - no fear in the danish 70s either... ;)
I had one too, it's possibly from Triang toys.
What about glueing a magnet on the tiny tins for the fridge? You find the coolest things!
I think the oven is from the 40's or 50's
I had one too around 1968
The fellow on the horse is Paul Revere. When we moved to the US in the 60s, manufacturers gave all sorts of things away in boxes of laundry detergent and cereals, and other foodstuffs. We thought it was great fun to collect the teaspoons and drinking glasses and, yes, dinnerware. It took a while, but we eventually accumulated an entire service for four of the blue and white china (dinner plates, bowls, tea cups and saucers), and that design was on the cups. Other heroes of the American Revolution (like Betsy Ross) were on other pieces.
I was saying,it’s Paul Revere. I remember my mom getting dishes, etc in laundry detergent boxes.
I was thinking Paul Revere, but with it saying England on the bottom it might have been Dick Turpin.
There is a poem we studied with Year 6 children , when I worked in Education about a horseback man. I can’t quite remember what it was called. I will try and find out.x
Pumpkin and mittens will love scratching the bunny if they’re anything like my two..😂
I have three of those cups and the saucers. Printed on the bottom of the saucer is, LIBERTY BLUE, HISTORIC COLONIAL SCENES, OLD NORTH CHURCH. These dishes are from 1976 and were 'freebees in grocery stores. My guess is that the man on the horse is Paul Revere of "the british are coming the british are coming" fame.
Yes, that is Paul Revere on the cup!
Those lights reminded me of my childhood. Those Christmases of multicoloured lights, tinsel, shiny streamers hung about the ceiling. Those were the days 🥰
Oh mr c what memories you bought back to me with the little oven i was the youngest of three and dad converted the old garden shed to a play house mum made certains and a little wooden table and two chairs and that little oven i will be 70 this april ha ha imr c love the saying memories are golden❤❤loved this vlog mr c much love❤
So lovely to see this and re-value what others discard I loved the little cooker memories of the 40/50s toys I grew up with, thank you im so pleased to know there are people like you in the world, you make it a better place ❤️
All I can think of is: CANDLE. The mug would make such a pretty candle! And the oven... just imagine making tiny metal toy saucepans/pots into small candles, placing them on the hobs and having them in the kitchen. How sweet would that be - and you wouldn`t destroy the oven.
or succulent holder
Vintage things, you can make a box up to donate to a local residential homes or dementia clubs, as they have to raise money for the activities to keep their memories
Reminiscence therapy, really works. Great idea!
That little oven made me want a Mr. Carrington makes a dollhouse series 😄 You have the diy skills and imagination for it!
Evening Mr C the little oven is a wonderful find it's a little tin cooker toy from the 50's tinplate Fuchs kitchen range cooker, I can't wait to see it all cleaned up, I absolutely love vintage toys! A fab find :)
Definitely love the rabbit!
Mr Carrington, that blue and white saucer features the American patriot Paul Revere who rode out of Boston to warn the outer towns of Concord and Lexington that the British were coming! The patter know as Liberty Blue was sold around 1976 to commemorate the American Bicentennial. Each piece is decorated with a different historical image. I’ve been collecting them since 1975 and a huge collection. Brings me joy to know that you now have a cup in our home.
I think those Christmas lights will have a fuse bulb that is not working and needs replaced the fuse bulb is the very first bulb well used to be and was white. We may have a fuse bulb, we still have sets o Christmas lights over the past 50 years. Hubby could look for you if you want?
I was going to suggest the same thing (don’t have a spare bulb though).
The Jerusalem cookbook is my go to cookbook. So many delicious recipes in it. Have fun trying them all.
The Cadbury buttons tin can’t be super old because the weight is in grams rather than ounces.
I had a little cooker similar to that in the 1960s 🌸🌸
The small strip of paper looks like wallpaper border, when I was very young the border was either pasted on top of the wallpaper usually at the top between the wall and the ceiling to finish it off or half way up the wall like todays dado rail, I remember helping my dad to wallpaper !!
in my road neighbours have started leaving stuff on the wall outside….i’ve picked up some books & photo frames & wooden hangers…..my hubby put loads of garden pots & bamboo we had cut….i went inside to write a sign & by the time i came back they were all gone…..i love it lovely way to turn trash to treasure……
Same in my part of London. Renters leave really good stuff behind on the pavement when they leave. You could furnish a whole house. I've got a brand new iron, a vintage wicker chair I resprayed etc. And there are many v large families who put stuff they no longer want out too. 8-9 children is v common here so they're always decluttering 😂
@@sarahholland2600Thats so good I love a treasure
@@jackydavis3719 London Facebook Marketplace is great for people going back abroad after their secondment in London & selling practically new stuff off for pennies.
Those Christmas lights, if they’re the same as my parents had if one is missing or one bulb has blown the whole lot don’t work. Maybe get some spare bulbs and try that 😊
They alway had a white fuse bulb in the ones we had, you used to get spare ones with the set.
@@chrisroylance3109 oooh yes now you say I remember the white one! Anyhow fingers crossed all that will help somehow
One of the cutters is doughnut cutter, the scalloped little trays are for petitfours and other delicate small tarts 😊 the lenght of material is woven trim, you can actually make 3 book marks by sewing both ends and adding pretty silk tassels
I had the exact same oven.
You put little white paraffin cubes in the holes and lit them.
I remember boiling potatoes in little pans.
Heath and safety would have a field day now letting children play with fire and boiling water.
It must have been about 1964 xx
A friend who enjoys cooking? Hmm, who could that be? I like the random haul 💰🙂
I had one of those ovens when i was small so early 1960's the hobs had an red/orange plastic piece under the top and they flickered when you turned the tiny knobs Chad Valley comes to mind as the make It had tiny pans and a dish with a plastic roast chicken and I think I had a sink that went with it
Yes! Mine had the plastic roast chicken! Don't remember a sink.
What a lot of lovely freebie finds! Love the cookery books! I would love to find a little stove like that, shabby and vintage looking. I'd keep it as is, just give it a clean, and put it for display in the kitchen, with other vintage kitchenalia. And the little cup could be hung in the garden with some wild bird seed mixed with solid fat, squished into it. The birds will love it! Thanks, Iwan!
Those tiny metal plates could be used to place a tea spoon after stirring your tea. The flower Xmas lights used to plug into the ceiling light, they were a pain because if a bulb went out you would have to literally go through the whole string to find out which it was, as they would all go out together, also the wiring may now be broken inside due to folding/unfolding etc. I would personally just use them for pretty decoration as they will drive you crazy and could be a fire hazard, but they are so pretty and vintage, I would keep them.
Ah Iwan what lovely things you found. The lights remind me of the 70's and 80's when I was growing up, although I've never seen them in the pastel shades. It was my job to fix the lights when they wouldn't work (I was about 7 or 8). On one of the bulbs there will be a painted white tip, this would be the fuse that I would change. We always had a little bag of spare fuse bulbs. My husband banned me a few years ago from using my old fairy lights, I still have some in the loft. Nothing beats the look and glow of old fairy lights...such wonderful memories ❤🎄x
When you held up the little metal cherub thingy I thought they were floating through the air holding onto a dandelion seed. It would look lovely in a garden or on a roof terrace
We had the same fairy lights when we married in 1979. Probably needs a new bulb, if one bulb goes none will work so you have to try each bulb with a little bulb tester. You can put a 3 pin plug on it as well. You would put them away working and the following Xmas a bulb would have gone! The child’s oven looks late 50s early 60s could be chad valley and the little tins could have been inside it to use to cook with.
Yep! 'Testing' the Christmas lights was an annual saga. Usually the spare bulb/fuse would be nowhere to be found and the lights would start off in a hideous tangle. Happy days! 😂
@@olbird7647ha sums up my childhood in the 60’s😂
Hello yes I had an oven very similar I love the old fashioned toys they always had lots of detail my favourite was my dolls house when I was little. I liked all the items you bought.😊👍♥️
Tea cups look lovely with moss and a candle
I would use the oven to hold battery tea lights. An air plant if you want to use it as 12:15 plant pot would also work. Both fir display in the kitchen.
I had a cooker very similar one about 1958, loved it. Don’t remember the make. My grandad made me a Welsh dresser to go with it. 🐞
Sometimes the most random things are the most wonderful.
If you don’t find any use for the tins why not make a type of sun catcher for the garden? Maybe add a few bells 🔔 too? Just need some sort of protective layer to stop the rust coming back again. A little cute diy. 🎉🎉
The cup was most likely made in Staffordshire and you could put some airplants in it.
A tip if you havent got a trolley token or a £1 coin - put two 20ps together - I was taught this by a 90 year old woman.
the blue and white cup would make a fab candle and the toy stove could have a couple of plants in two top holes for your balcony x
Ps. You could use the little metal tins in your little oven! Or display them on top.
The cup I’d attach with strong glue on the side to an odd saucer /plate & make it into a bird feeder add a little chain to the handle
The Santa plate looks like the Santa I have on a Cath kidston tray maybe ask Kate
You get some really interesting items 😊x
It is a Fuchs German toy stove/range
Buy a succulent and put it in that cup you showed, I use cups for succulents and they look nice on my plant rack.
I think you're right Mr Carrington, you can put tea lights in that little oven, there's a channel on here called little kitchen i think, quite cool. And those old Christmas petal lights, take me back pretty sure they are from the late 80s early 90s. Great video Mr Carrington. 👍
I had an oven in the 60's it didn't look like that one but it used a light bulb to cook. It was called an easy bake oven. My brother's always wanted me to make them cakes. LoL. My favorite item is the rabbit.
The wee blue cup is perfect for a spring bulb display, maybe a hyacyinth or wee daffodils. Plant it up in the cup, finish off with some moss on the top, it will look fab. Once the bulb has finished flowering just plant it in a pot and place it in your roof garden ❤
Lovely calm vlog. I would put a bulb, crocus or dwarf daffodil in the blue n white tea cup.
The oven is cute being a 60s child in sure one of my friends had one?.maybe you could use it on the roof garden plant it up!😊.what fun finds
Mr carrington love your show .I am retired and have now lost both my two cat within two years it's been hard not have them to tell me what to do is a marvel I didn't know that my life was run by the cats so am looking to you for support!!
I had a similar oven in the 60’s and we also had the Christmas lights too
Those small, oval, fluted tins are barquette tins for small tarts or canapes, I think. The Ottolenghi Jerusalem book is a great find, I am keeping an eye out for that one, delicious recipes, well done
Hi Iwan great haul u picked up some gems there ur friend is gonna love the cookery books I know he loves cookery & trying out new recipes, have a lovely weekend take care lots of love 💞💞💞
Iwan, in those lights, there should be a bulb, that will have white inside it, if they are old, that bulb is a fuse bulb. You will have to try and get some new ones. 😊
Hi Mr c Cook books are realy nice and are expensive too ..some good finds rabbit is lovley I will be going to get one of those ... was a good blog as usual jo❤
Fantastic on the books! Last time in London I picked up a signed watercolour of swans nicely framed from the skip which mother loves!
Hi..
Maybe u could melt old candles or left over bits of them and create your own candle in the cup x
Fab "random" finds!! Too good to leave behind! So many perfect little rusty-crusty decor pieces for a kitchen shelf. I must confess - I gasped when you pulled out the little stove - "omg, I'd kill for that!" Lol
The little oven is gorgeous!!!❤
Hi, I remember the christmas lights on our tree each year, I was born in 1965. I'm sure though they were not lit by a lamp, I think they plugged into the wall.
What fun finds, great to see you always!
I had an oven early 60’s and those small tins were pastry bases for tarts - my Nan used them 😊
Paul Revere on the cup. I had that toy oven. It was from the 40s. Lucky finds.
Succulent in the tea cup 👍❤️
Oh Mr C what great random finds!! I love them all but the Father Christmas plates and the Vintage Fairy lights are my favourites!!! Even if the lights don't work I would still use them for display, I also love the fact that you pick items up because you don't think they should end up in the bin, I wholeheartedly agree with you, thanks again for another great video xx
Horse cup my favourite how about putting mini Chocolate eggs in it and some florist paper the see through type around it and tying with a blue ribbon .Perfect Easter present 🎁👌🦄
Wow! what a lots of random stuff in this Vlog! Loved it, be careful with the fairy lights they are probably from the 50's or 60's I would guess judging by the plug on them, people would plug them into the ceiling light or a lamp, as not many homes had lots of sockets to use. It would be safer if you had them checked by an electrician as the wire may be faulty after all this time. If you do get them working, you probably need replacement bulbs and you can usually get them on places like e-bay. I think they would be nice purely as decoration out in the roof garden draped on something like a plant pot or on the trellis. The cup, either put a tea light in it, or better still fill it with wax and a wick and make it into a candle? Thanks for this, I enjoyed it a lot x
I bought the white metal lazy Susan u showed purchased from Amazon. Two actually for our bathroom counters. They r great!! So thank you!! Love all u do!!
Hi Mr C. Yes I had a toy oven similar to that and we had to get some white tablets from a camping shop for some reason to light it. All I can remember trying to cook is a sliced up apple! Not a big success as I remember.
Could you collect some dumpster dive crockery and create a mosaic for the roof garden. 😊
I have Jerusalem. Fabulous cookbook visually and to read, though I have not yet cooked from it. Thank you for the video! I used to dream of turning a full sized stove like that into a planter but these days I do not have the space.
I live in a large apartment building and we leave unwanted treasures in our laundry room for others to take and enjoy. We also have a large bookshelf full of books and DVDs - take them, read them and bring them back for someone else to enjoy.
Hi iwan, really enjoyed this vlog. You could use the cup for little bulbs or faux plant that fits. Lovely books. Anything to use on the roof garden. Really looking forward to seeing that. Hope you can use the fairy lights round a bar are maybe. Good luck. X
Love dumpster diving
Hi Mr C, once you cleaned the toy cooker I am sure the Toy musuem will love it . I wonder what other items was part of this range. Did they have fridges and washing machines etc? Maybe one of your viewers will know. Very good finds, those pieces look very interesting and fun😊
I had a little kitchen sink unit set in enamel in the late 1950s when I was a toddler. You could fill a little tank with water and turn on the taps to fill the sink! Also had a little enamel washing machine which worked when you turned a handle. It could be filled with water to wash your dolls clothes. Great find!
The teacup was from.Liberty Blue Historic Colonial Scenes Tea Cup England.
The little cooker was by fuchs because it was metal it is pretty 1960
I have got some really Awesome things from dumpsters! Best find was an old coin collection. I mean who can walk by a dumpster without giving it a sneaky peek? One man’s trash is another’s treasure for sure! I even got some stunning French doors one time that we are about to install after years of storing them in our cellar. Love that old oven toy! And the decs too. But I adore anything old! 👍👍👍👍💗😀
love love love the lights i’m sure u will be able to get them working
Check the bulbs on the lights as one may have gone then replace the bulb and they may work could take a while to check them all until they light up
The cookery books are in excellent condition and fairly recent. I have a set of coloured lights which are from the 70s. Mine have a plug and still work. However if one of the bulbs go they need to be replaced otherwise they will not work. Try putting a plug on them. The cup looks like a scene from a French toile design but I think it is more likely to be from a British origin maybe a highwayman? Dick Turpin? It could also be Paul Revere. The oven looks lethal!! Never find any treasures around where I live!
The blue and white cup could have a candle in or plant some crocus bulbs or grape hyacinth bulbs in it or a very small potted plant.
Plain, white, and simple storage sounds like the men I date 🤣🤣😍
Tĥe santa plates, i think are from tesco last year. I rem them Christmas tree lights from the 80's 😊
I have dinner plates and side plates in that blue design x
the porcelain cup and small tins I would use to make candles!
Loved this haul... you found some real treasures ❤
They definatley were random bits, loved the little oven, love to kitties xx
I agree. I thought you could make a soy wax candle in the teacup. The fairy lights are stunning. I would get those fixed and hang them up.
All curious, fun, happy finds. I love them all. 🌺🌸🐰
I had that little oven when I was little about 1960 s maybe
Love the back of the hair cowlick going on. Yo know, the flick of hair that doesn't obey. Cute!
Love the Matisse boxes!!!
I love the toy oven!!
I had a medal play stove in the 50’s like that one not like yours in NJ USA. I don’t remember them being open for a tea light. I think our moms would never allow it. Those black small plates could be from tea set. Those tin things were not cookies you made chocolate candy in them not the round ones. I hope that helps you. Really good finds. I found working TV once on the street used it for years lol!
My favourite was the Bunny so cute I think my Cat is going to like it too.
Plastic bags in Ireland are between €1 and €1.50c. But all shops apart from grocery give you free paper bags
Hi, just had a trip back to the 60's, the lights would be plugged into the ceiling light and draped over to the tree, the paper strip was an wallpaper boarder, i used to get all the spare bits and use them in my wooden dolls house my dad build for me when i was about 4, the front opened like a big door. My mum used to find odd bits of carpet, made little curtains and she painting a. roof and, climbing roses. Was my best ever Christmas present. Also made my brother a wooden fort, Such happy memories thank you
Great finds with the cookery books. I read them rather than cook from them
The oven is a Fuchs MFZ made in Germany 1960s. I had one. It came with lots of accessories like a kettle, pans and things to hang at the back. Great find!
Loved this! The blue and white teacup made me think of Paul Revere! And what a great haul of miscellaneous and the cook books are wonderful! 😮😊
Love the vintage stuff!!
The metal "basket" type are to make a wonderful Italian cookie. The base is a sweet dough and then you fill them with a plum jam or any other type of filling. Very yummy
Oven 1950’s. So cute.
That Yotam Ottolenghi cookbook is a real find. He has delis in various parts of London and a 'proper' restaurant in Spitalfields (not cheap!) and specialises in what could be loosely termed middle-eastern cooking , as he was born in Jerusalem of Italian and German Jewish descent. The great thing is that the co-author of 'Jerusalem' is a Palestinian chef from Jerusalem (who also works in London). If I remember correctly they opened the first deli together (not sure if they're still work partners).😉
